dipping toast in tea?

My mum always dipped her toast into her tea and I grew up doing the same. I still do it today and it's a secret pleasure!
Thick white toasted bread, thickly spread with butter and a mug of hot tea with a little sugar.............bliss.
My daughter also does it as does my brother.
Are there any other secret toast dunkers out there?
If so where do you live, I'm in South West Wales.

Dipping toast in tea is one of life's under-rated pleasures.

BringOnFebBankHoliday · 04/02/2023 21:48

I do it too, 😋

MyFavouritePlace · 04/02/2023 21:49

I did it all the time as a child and still occasionally do it, it's great!

Bjarnum · 04/02/2023 21:51

One of my staff used to dunk her sardine sandwiches every lunchtime. Each to their own...

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 04/02/2023 21:52

Vile and gross IMO. The toast has butter on it surely??? You are dipping BUTTER in your tea. 😲 GRIM!

PremiumB · 04/02/2023 21:52

I’ve never come across this. Happy to try it!

Nasty. 😱

Ziggyzagg · 04/02/2023 21:53

That’s disgusting

CountZacular · 04/02/2023 21:53

I have not in some time, but it’s definitely a happy memory. Tea needs to be sweetened.

I also enjoy a dipped cheese sarnie too.

Humptydumptyfellapart · 04/02/2023 21:55

Oh hell yes
Not something the family did, picked it up in 6th form.

God no!! Never even heard of this as a thing til now. MN is an education.

ToastToastTea · 04/02/2023 21:57

Nice to know I'm not alone!
I think I'll pass on dunking a sardine sandwich .................(or even eating one)

Oh, yes, to the tea needing to be sweetened.

HelterSkelter224 · 04/02/2023 21:59

I'll never forget my uncle used to (probably still does) dip his toast in his breakfast cereal 🤢 I don't dip but it's not unheard of.

rabbithearted · 04/02/2023 22:03

I like dipping toast in soup/broth so I can kind of see it as like a sweet version of that? Never tried it!

CC4712 · 04/02/2023 22:04

I have tried it- but its a NO from me! Soggy, mushy bread and left with butter fat floating on your tea! Not again thanks- but each to their own 😝

OnTheBoardwalk · 04/02/2023 22:05

Wrong, just wrong

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 04/02/2023 22:06

If people want their tea sweetening, put a bit of sugar in, not a piece of buttered toast. Urgh! Confused

MaverickGooseGoose · 04/02/2023 22:07

Wrong, so very wrong.

Gawpygertie · 04/02/2023 22:09

I prefer to dip a thick cut slice of bread and jam in my tea.

My favourite though is bread dipped in the caramelised meat juices when basting a joint of beef, lamb or pork. Dd and ddog love it too.
Dh and ds think we’re heathens.

Devoutspoken · 04/02/2023 22:10

Surely it's no different to dipping a croissant in coffee which I have seen

Casilero · 04/02/2023 22:11

I think it sounds quite nice but you wouldn't actually drink the tea when you'd finished dunking would you? It would be quite greasy and full of crumbs wouldn't it?

Girlintheframe · 04/02/2023 22:11

No, no, no! Sorry op that's just wrong

Nope. Never done that either. Never would. Also gross.
