dipping toast in tea?

My mum always dipped her toast into her tea and I grew up doing the same. I still do it today and it's a secret pleasure!
Thick white toasted bread, thickly spread with butter and a mug of hot tea with a little sugar.............bliss.
My daughter also does it as does my brother.
Are there any other secret toast dunkers out there?
If so where do you live, I'm in South West Wales.

I don’t mind a quick biscuit dunk, but don’t fancy it with toast.

Me! My mum and brother do it too, also from Liverpool

I do this too. Salted butter, marmalade toast dipped in hot sweet tea. I’ve done it for years since I was 5.
Now ill try dipping most things - Incl cake..

3 of us so far from
liverpool!

Rummikub · 05/02/2023 00:23

4 from liverpool!

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/02/2023 00:26

That is truly appalling, shame on the lot of you.

I tried dipping a shredded wheat in tea last week, I didn’t expect a taste sensation, but it was vile, and even it didn’t have fecking butter on it.

RampantIvy · 05/02/2023 00:27

Why on earth would you ruin a perfectly good piece of toast and a lovely cup of tea by dunking your toast in it?

Soggy toast and crumby, buttery tea? Why?
There's nothing wrong with my teeth, and I prefer to chew my toast.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 05/02/2023 00:31

I'm a massive tea and toast fan, it's my breakfast in a morning and can't function without either!
Dunking the toast into my mug of tea though?!
Won't that get butter floaters?;
Bleeeeeeeee 🤢😁

Rummikub · 05/02/2023 00:36

Try a quick corner dip.

The tea tastes nicer after.

Nudity · 05/02/2023 00:47

I haven’t done this for years but the secret is you roll the buttered toast (like a Swiss roll) and dunk it bit by bit.

newtb · 05/02/2023 00:50

DD dipped toast with butter and marmite into hot chocolate. I blame French boarding school.

Tuppy2 · 05/02/2023 00:51

What a boring thread. Should put me to sleep nicely. Thanks.

macaronitoni · 05/02/2023 00:51

Yuck! Sorry. I can get behind a digestive biscuit but that’s where the line is drawn for me.

CallieQ · 05/02/2023 00:54

No way
Only biscuits in tea

TheFretfulPorpentine · 05/02/2023 01:06

Devoutspoken · 04/02/2023 23:12

It's not really different to dunking biscuits is it?

It's totally different. Biscuits don't leave a slick of butter on the surface of the tea.

oranga · 05/02/2023 01:31

I ate a chocolate croissant into a cappuccino tot breakfast this morning and it was absolutely delightful

oranga · 05/02/2023 01:31

Dipped in a cappuccino!

JauntyRedShoes · 05/02/2023 02:18

Never heard of this before. Don’t think I’ll try it. I love toast/sandwich/cake with a cup of tea. I’ll break up toast with butter and put in in soup and I’ll certainly dip any biscuit in tea. I’m curious about croissant dipped in tea now and may try that although I’m not sure about all the flaky pastry in my mug.

Aprilx · 05/02/2023 02:22

No no no. The horror. 😀

I hate all dunking of food.

HerbalTeaAndCake · 05/02/2023 16:37

Surely it's no different to dipping a croissant in coffee which I have seen

Completely different!

Rummikub · 05/02/2023 16:46

I enjoyed my breakfast of dipped marmalade buttery toast today.

Iwantabloodypizza · 05/02/2023 16:51

My dad always did that.

It made me gag as a small child.

Kingstonmumof1 · 05/02/2023 16:52

The french definitely do this with coffee! Can't bring myself to try it.

RosyDawn · 05/02/2023 17:26

Not only do I dunk my toast in my tea, I dunk my Marmite toast in it!!

Only started in the last year or so though. Had no idea others also do this.
