Flowers is amazing? I keep watching the video and thinking she's fabulous. I've never liked her before but this is wonderful!

My fave song of hers is " see you again"

It's an early one from 2007 but it's when I first heard that amazing, voice of hers.

This song is awesome and was actually my fav song of 200&!

lornmower · 05/02/2023 08:03

Sorry 2008 !!!

BakedTattie · 05/02/2023 08:08

I used to hate her. I was really annoyed that I loved the song wrecking ball but she ballsed it up (literally!) with the video.

now, I like her. She’s eccentric. The recent Jolene/I will always love you with dolly was incredible.

Honestly I can’t stand her. Just another nepo baby!

Apart from the whole having actual buckets of talent thing you mean?!

badgergirly · 05/02/2023 08:32

@lornmower it's fab, isn't it?

Her talent far surpasses BRC though

AuntieMarys · 05/02/2023 09:02

I love her. And I'm mid 60s

I think she's talented and love the song, very clever as a response to the song Liam sang at their wedding.

But I don't think it's empowering to be thinking and singing about your ex several years after the separation. It doesn't scream 'I'm over him' to me.

I'm still a little sad about my divorce, back in 1999.

I feel this is a self love song rather than a breakup song, plus we all assume it's about Liam, it could equally be a recent boyfriend.

drpet49 · 05/02/2023 09:11

Nope, shit voice and shit songs.

I apologise if this has already been posted, her Glastonbury main stage set about 4 years ago was absolutely outstanding....total brilliance xxx

I was just about to post to say that. She was head and shoulders miles better than anyone else, with The Cure coming a close second. She blew me away. She made it look so effortless as well.

donttellmehesalive · 05/02/2023 09:33

"I feel this is a self love song rather than a breakup song, plus we all assume it's about Liam, it could equally be a recent boyfriend."

Of course it's about Liam. She references their house burning down. It's a direct response to the Bruno Mars song he sang on their wedding day.

I dunno. I just think the best way to show that you're over something is to say nothing at all.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/02/2023 09:41

TBH I do like the song but all this ‘getting back at Liam’ crap really gets on my nerves.

Why must celebrities air their dirty laundry in public? Why must they make subtle digs through their ‘art’ at someone? And more importantly - why do people even listen?

All this “go Miley” “poor Miley” nonsense - she is an overprivileged extremely wealthy nepo baby, born into wealth and fame and was always destined to have a music career. Of which she has spent half of it prattling about on stage with her tongue out and generally being quite annoying. I’m perplexed that people are championing her as some sort of girl power feminist because she wrote a song sneering at her ex.

We have no idea what happened in their marriage and it’s a shame an otherwise very good song is being peppered with self indulgent moaning, and even more of a shame is every day women think it’s powerful and relatable.

Ponoka7 · 05/02/2023 09:42

Song writers get their inspiration from their lived lives. So there's going to be songs about relationship breakups. As well as being a singer, actress, she's a song writer as well. I've known her from HM days, she's only a bit older than two of my girls. It's easy to forget how young she was during her 'crazy stage'. This could be exceptionally good marketing, which her sister Brandi, hints at in an interview. Miley has got were she is because of talent, she is far from a nepo baby.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/02/2023 09:44

postitpatty · 04/02/2023 22:09

I've admired her talent for a while but this is another level, its excellent!

Rumour is the suit she's dancing around in is the one he was wearing when he told her to behave on the red carpet, and the gold dress is a nod to what Jenifer Lawrence wore on red carpet with with him, allegedly he cheated on Miley with Jen

He didn’t tell her to behave.

Im slightly hard of hearing and can lip read - it’s a ridiculous rumour that he said ‘behave’. And TBH, she pretended to lick him up and down I’d be fucking embarrassed and be thinking ‘you’re an adult, behave yourself’.

Blagdoon · 05/02/2023 06:17

Nah, Miley has got where she is by working hard and being extremely talented. Not because of who she is.

I love that she is finally starting to get the recognition she deserves.

Karwomannghia · 05/02/2023 10:13

It’s catchy but not something I’ll be listening to on repeat. Also the underwear exercise segment I would normally put down to some exec saying right now time for some underwear shots but I think that was probably her idea. I don’t get the whole stripping off obsession for many female singers (particularly from US).

Arrrrrrragghhh · 05/02/2023 10:16

He said "could you behave for once", which wasn't as bad as made out.

He absolutely told her to behave. It’s not like she’s ever hidden who she is, is it? She’s never really behaved and he absolutely knew that when he got together with her, proposed to her and married her. You don’t speak to someone you love like he did in that moment and it is great to see her push him away and do her own thing.

That she is dancing like a mad woman in Flowers wearing that suit is absolutely not behaving. Bloody well done, Miley. None of us need that shit in our lives. We should all strive to be whoever it is we are and not worry about what others think. World would be a mentally healthier place for it.

If a female actress, who's looks are talked about more than their acting, objected to their partner pretend to lick her all over, when posing for pictures on the red carpet, everyone would say that she has the right to shut it down. Another version is that he said "you're going to pay for that", then he tickles her and she poses for pictures. He is mid interview later and walks away because she's twerking on him. It looked like he just wanted to give an interview without her tongue or ass getting in the way. Previous to this all the interviews were treating him and Scarlett as just the eye candy of the film. Although as I said I like MC.

Love the song, love her voice but the thrusting around in her bra and pants and then having a shower just looks rather desperate. You would think she'd grow out of that phase by now.

I’m going to get a lot of hate for this comment but here I go.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one feeling this. People get weirdly defensive of miley but I don’t understand it. The pose at the end… Normally I think on any other celebrity would have looked good but there was a strange vibe… like a 12 year old desperately trying to feel and look like an adult? Not sure if she’s trying to convince herself or others but it’s really clear (at least it’s clear to me) that she’s very very emotionally immature and I think she’s self aware of it but doesn’t know what to do about it.

I mean the constant obsession of her fans defending wrecking ball as a necessary move to shake off her childhood. Like so many celebrities come from child stardom and they shake it off just fine without offending entire nations! So why on earth was miley different? I think it was just an excuse. lol

The weird and unusual levels of obsession with drugs, sex and unnecessary crude levels of nudity. I think I could understand in her early to mid twenties because it’s normal to a certain degree. But now it just feels like she’s the celebrity version of a loser stuck in their parents basement.

I am not a prude by any means. In fact I’m not usually put off at all by revealing outfits. I’m actually an artist who draws nude portraits quite often! But with miley it’s not tasteful. It’s very crude almost as if the intent is simply nudity for nudity’s sake.

Usually with other artists if they choose to be nude or partially nude there is an artistic message behind it such as the feeling of being vulnerable, exposed, or to express being comfortable in ones own skin or to describe intimacy with an partner. I don’t think miley is intelligent enough or even creative enough to go far enough to think that deeply about it.

A pp said she’s simply eccentric and doesn’t care about fame. I disagree. I think that has been all she’s cared about and she’s failed pretty epically the past few years and only stayed afloat because of her previous fame which she’s merely been costing off of until recently. I think she just realized that what she was doing wasn’t working so she’s changed her game finally or let someone in the background take over.

Many of my friends that listen to her have admitted that they follow her on social media to laugh at her and make fun of her. She’s done a fantastic job of embarrassing herself.

Her idea of adulthood is pretty sad. Drugs and sex are not the defining features of an adult but a bumbling child that only has a shallow surface level understanding of adulthood.

Sure, some people understand that early, others take more time to realise.

She probably wanted to shock at the time, given that she was fresh out of a Disney contract that was highly controlling as to her image. I imagine it feels highly liberating to do all the things that a conservative environment tells you not to do because ‘good girls don’t’. She was a Disney star at the same time they were pushing ‘purity culture’, having their teen stars wearing the purity rings and shit.

She took control as a new adult in the way she wanted to, and while she went a stereotypical way, it’s stereotypical for a reason, because it feels adult for someone who at the point doesn’t know what it is to be adult.

Yeah I get that to an extent but it’s been ten years now. She’s an adult congratulations! Does she want an award or something? She’s still acting like a young teen that just learned about the birds and the bees. No other celebrity gets this level of excuses and free passes that miley does. It’s really interesting.

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/02/2023 14:34

Yeah but she's 30 now and Wrecking Ball was almost 10 years ago.

Like I said, comes across as a bit desperate. Look at my fit body Liam, look what you let go ner ner ner nerr nerr.
