Flowers is amazing? I keep watching the video and thinking she's fabulous. I've never liked her before but this is wonderful!

Her version of Nothing Else Matters is amazing, my Metallica loving husband has had it on repeat this last week since we discovered it!

Nothing Else Matters is one of my favourite songs ever and I think the version with her with Metallica is dare I say it, better than the original.

Have you seen the clip of her singing Say Hello to Heaven at the Chris Cornell tribute. Also incredible. Apparently the crowd was booing when she came on stage and were totally blown away by the end.

Because of her beginnings and some of her 'antics' people underestimate her songwriting as well as her singing. Wrecking ball is a great song & lyrics, the video distracted from that I feel. She's so versatile as a singer, her covers show that as well as her own songs. I too went down a YouTube rabbit hold once and found so many great performances and interesting interviews. The BBC Live Lounge with her is well worth a watch as well as the Backyard Sessions

Has anyone heard Miley and Ariana's cover of Don't dream it's over by Crowded House?

It's fantastic and on YouTube.

I'm still hoping they put this on Spotify!

Miley is one of the best female vocalists out there. Her live version of like a prayer puts Madonna to shame and I say that as a lifelong Madge fan.

Agreed!

This mash-up of the two is amazing

Disabrie22 · 04/02/2023 23:54

She’s very talented but I always think will burn out with drugs - she just has those over thin arms.
I also never believe these ex break up songs as a lot of these couples are swingers anyway.

Soapnutty · 04/02/2023 23:57

I started to really notice her when she released Nothing Breaks Likes a Heart with Mark Ronson. Thought was a good song, loved Midnight Sky released 2 years ago and Flowers is such a catchy tune with a positive self love message. She has matured and I like her a lot.

TheCraicDealer · 05/02/2023 00:09

I’ve been a Miley fan since her Wrecking Ball days, even when I was a bit “wtf” at her carrying on back then. She was desperately trying to shake off her child star mantle at that stage so I forgive her.

Her voice is incredible and her back catalogue is packed full of absolute bops. I’ve been saying for years she’s really underrated, glad to see this song do so well.

I like the song and her but I think it’s a little pathetic that’s it’s aimed at her ex 😬

all those ‘fuck my ex’ songs make me cringeeeeeee

I’ve always hated miley ever since wrecking ball, but I don’t get the hatred for songs about exes. I find them to always be the most powerful as a big break up can be a hugely emotional and transformative part of a person’s life making for perfect artistic inspiration. It can be the making or the destruction of a person. I always find that interesting to witness. Then again I’m an artist at heart so maybe that’s just me. You are of course totally entitled to your feelings! That’s just my two cents. lol 😄

Now this I don’t understand. There are 100 other ways to shake off her childhood. lol. This was literally the most childish way to do it. 😂 Then again I discovered that I had an extreme hatred for what she regarded as “stylish”. I really did try to get passed it because I wanted to like her music but It looked to me like she literally handed a piece of paper and crayons to a bunch of three year olds and told them to design her next few music videos and performance outfits. Like literally not even trying? I don’t know. If there was any level of sophistication I couldn’t see or appreciate it.

SRS29 · 05/02/2023 00:40

I apologise if this has already been posted, her Glastonbury main stage set about 4 years ago was absolutely outstanding....total brilliance xxx

Allthelego · 05/02/2023 00:55

Nope. Like her voice and lyrics. The video though - she’s just another female jogging around in her undies.

mtld · 05/02/2023 00:59

She’s highly talented, with a unique, powerful voice. One of her songs really caught my attention recently when I heard it at a restaurant.

However - best to take celebrity gossip and rumours with a pinch of salt. There’s often a lot of PR and spin surrounding new releases and much of it is bollocks.

I believe she herself said the marriage didn’t end due to cheating. It wouldn’t surprise me if there had been some of that happening on both sides, or they had something like an open relationship. “Blurred lines” seem common in the music and movie industries.

ForestLilac · 05/02/2023 02:06

Agree that her version of Jolene is as good as the original.

Have you all heard the Dolly Parton slowed down version on YouTube? Phenomenal.

badgergirly · 05/02/2023 02:16

My fave song of hers is " see you again"

It's an early one from 2007 but it's when I first heard that amazing, voice of hers.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 05/02/2023 04:03

Her version of Jolene is fine but it doesn't have any of the raw vulnerability of Dolly's.

windyarse · 04/02/2023 23:05

You think a song about an ex is pathetic?

Have you a list of appropriate lyrics because there are thousands of songs out there about exes Confused

Adele has made a whole career on ex tunes

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/02/2023 05:01

Put the whole question in the thread title! What's with the click baiting??

OliviaFlaversham · 05/02/2023 06:14

I love it. I think she is brilliant.

Blagdoon · 05/02/2023 06:17

Honestly I can’t stand her. Just another nepo baby!

hay5689 · 05/02/2023 06:27

I must admit it's only been the past year that I've realised how good she actually is, especially live. When I saw her singing rebel yell with Billy Idol I thought she'd be out of her depth but she was awesome.

Covetthee · 05/02/2023 06:49

She is incredibly talented, and I love that she doesn’t try to be the pretty popstar all the time and i’m glad she didn’t allow Liam to dim her light!

she has definitely found her sound. Bigger things are to come for her.

You guys should also check out her sister Noah’s stuff, she also has a great voice, they have done a couple of songs together too and they sound so good together.

donttellmehesalive · 05/02/2023 07:04

I think she's talented and love the song, very clever as a response to the song Liam sang at their wedding.

But I don't think it's empowering to be thinking and singing about your ex several years after the separation. It doesn't scream 'I'm over him' to me.

lornmower · 05/02/2023 07:18

It's ok - but not my fav of hers by a mile! I love 'See You Again' and 'Midnight Sky'

MangosteenSoda · 05/02/2023 07:27

I’m not the Hannah Montana demographic and had never paid much attention to Miley, but every time I heard a song of hers I always had a pang of surprise at how good her voice sounded.

After Flowers, I eventually got around to a Spotify deep dive and agree with most pps. Incredible voice, good lyrics, really interesting artist. I mean, I never thought I’d develop a deep appreciation for a song called Golden G String, but there it is Grin

plumduck · 05/02/2023 07:32

She was great at Glasto

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 05/02/2023 08:00
