Have you checked out the promo picture? Has a large building on fire, which I think is Nev’s home. I wonder whether Nev gets his revenge?

Ooh yes. Haven't seen that promo picture (despite living in 'Happy' Valley myself) but they are holed up at Nev's, so that is a very good point.
On a side note, many businesses around here are getting right into the spirit and declaring themselves Tommy Lee Royce free zones, etc. The Piece Hall in Halifax had a very funny 'sighting' of TLR too. Look it up.

RenoDakota · 04/02/2023 10:04

Oh yes, I have seen the picture (below). Hadn't put two and two together.

lolaflores · 04/02/2023 10:14

Un the last episode I was certain the woman fixing the truck was planting a bomb. I was posed for the explosion. She could not have ooked more nervous than if she was juggling a pack of semtex by the bistro table and chairs

Theskyoutsideisblue · 04/02/2023 18:27

There seems an awful lot to do in one episode

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/02/2023 18:51

I do think TLR loves Ryan, as much as he can love anyone.
TLR will end up sacrificing himself to save Ryan

TheChosenTwo · 04/02/2023 19:44

Dead copper in series one (run over lady), dead copper in series two (bloke who murdered the woman and then chucked himself off the bridge), dead copper in series three? (Catherine or Anne? Maybe Catherine and that’s why there’s definitely no more series to come??)

SlaveToTheVibe · 03/02/2023 23:05

I thought Neil was TLRs dad? The connection being the drug issues that TLRs mum also suffered from?

I think you're right. He's a shifty bugger.

LongRoadtoNowhere · 06/02/2023 06:32

Sooooo what did we all think?

SKIPWAY · 06/02/2023 10:00

I called him killing himself but thought it would be a bit more public. Was OK tied everything up but felt a bit let's tie everything up at the end lol

I enjoyed last tango in Halifax apart from Sarah Lancashires awful accent.

Why was her accent awful?

SlaveToTheVibe · 06/02/2023 10:10

I was disappointed

I still think Neil is shifty
beardy storyline was wrapped up off screen
likes the confrontation

but
why weren’t the police guarding her house since he was on the run?

yeah it was a bit crap 💩

Survey99 · 06/02/2023 10:23

I was a bit disappointed at the time - I thinking there would be a huge twist of some sort , but on reflection that isn't what the series was about and don't think it would stayed true to itself and its characters if there was a sensationalist and unexpected twist.

but
why weren’t the police guarding her house since he was on the run?

It is the UK police force - lack of resources!

samsmum2 · 06/02/2023 13:46

I loved it. Loved the way they humanised TLR last week by tidying up his appearance, which definitely influenced the way I thought about him last night when he was suicidal (call me shallow). It felt like both characters got closure and Catherine got her apology but is still free of him, without having to finish him off herself.

Hillarious · 06/02/2023 14:33

It was a very clever ending, with the humour and even down to leaving things unanswered about the teacher and the pharmacist.

Teacher was arrested for being a paedophile and they are on to the Pharmacist - all in the last 2 mins.

But what you don't know is whether the knowledge about the pharmacist will be acted upon.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/02/2023 10:37

I'd never seen HV until this week, when I've been bed ridden with Covid - despite living in Huddersfield!

OMG I have just finished it. It was superb. I couldn’t see how they were going to tie up the teacher and pharmacist threads with 2 mins to go but they did. I suppose there could be another series off convicting the pharmacists but what would be the point without TLR and Catherine retired.

The whole basis of the plot is about how TLR is intertwined with Catherine's policing and her personal life. Ann has as much of a vendetta against him as Catherine, but there still no TLR.

MarshaBradyo · 10/02/2023 10:40

It was very good. I kind of hoped he’d live and back to prison but maybe too far fetched

And dying was more closure for her

Boulshired · 10/02/2023 12:08

I liked that the ending was not complete with the side characters as life isn’t like that but they didn’t completely (teacher & pharmacist) get away it.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 10/02/2023 12:10

I don't mind loose ends but the ending definitely felt rushed in a 'shit we've got 4 mins 37 secs to tie up all the other sub plots so let's have this CID guy explain it all really quickly.'

doublechocolatedigestives · 12/02/2023 02:19

Does anyone think there will be a 4th series seeing as the diazepam storyline didn't get completely concluded?

doublechocolatedigestives · 12/02/2023 02:19

How can there be? The principal story was Catherine/Tommy - the whole genius of the writing was that there was this unique personal vendetta going on mixed up with all the crime. Without Catherine and Tommy it's not Happy Valley. Even if Ann took up the Catherine role, and Darius took up the Tommy role, they don't have the complexities of loyalty to Becky and protecting Ryan.

And I think the diazepam story was wound up. Catherine told her boss everything he needed to know about Faisal and where to find him and I think they will have done. Faisal was far too hapless to outwit the police.

Alexandra2001 · 29/03/2023 13:46

I ve just last night finished watching.. so late to the party... what a series!!! and 100% agree can't have another unless Catherine came back as a copper (that does happen after all) and Ryan became a TLR type character... seeking revenge on her for killing his dad!!! which won't happen.

Agree Joanne's murder, Rob the teacher and the chemist was all a bit rushed as was the Darius stuff, too many loose ends, needed a 2 hour final episode.
