There's been criticism in the press over the sexualisation/borderline pornography on the video. I've just watched it. It just seems pretty misogynistic to me. He appears to smash a wine glass onto a woman's head and then it looks as though the women are being urinated upon (although it's not clear ...maybe it was meant to be champagne). What are other people's interpretation/views on it. I may well be mistaken.

I'm surprised it hasn't been given a rating - Duran Duran's Girls on Film was but I'm also surprised that other more recent stuff I've had the misfortune to see was also non rated so I suppose it's all fair.
I'm not watching "that" video as I can't stand it

I don’t have an issue with the theme or the champagne etc I’ve seen much worse in music videos, the problem is that it just doesn’t look good, it’s not stylish, it’s not artistic, it’s not sexy or cool, it’s just cringe. I’m a gay woman myself so it’s nothing to do with homophobia, it’s just not visually appealing to watch. He reminds me of Pat Butcher.

Directly they changed their pronouns i rolled my eyes and kind of switched off from their music. If I hear it on the radio I’ll listen but I’m not seeking it out.

I’m tired of 20 year olds saying that people who object to any of it are transphobic fatphobic old sad old boomers with vanilla sex lives who will regret their criticism of it in twenty years. No. I was living with a transvestite and two gay men at 20. Nothing really shocks me. I still think the video is pointlessly sexual shite. He’s clearly meant to be getting a mouthful of ‘piss’, so yes, that’s arguably too far for a commercial pop video. I think the nipple tassels and corset emphasise his male body in a way that just looks a bit silly and badly dressed, rather than erotic. Madonna’s Justify My Love video did gender bending in a way that was mesmerising.

Some of us 'old farts' ought to do a Memoirs thread called I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and I reckon I've seen things and experienced things that would make Rutger Hauer blush.

It’s the most boring, least edgy thing I’ve seen in quite some time. Far too ‘try hard’ but it’s kicked up some controversy so it’s done what it was meant to I guess. Still doesn’t make him any good though.

I don’t think people should be nasty about Sam Smiths weight. SS shouldn’t be misogynistic - and I’m really not a fan- but taking the mick out of SS for being “chubby” and “fat” etc just downgrades peoples moral standpoint. If SS were a woman and people started having a go at their weight people would be the first to complain.
