Why do people keep voting the tortes in again and again

Thomasina79 · 29/01/2023 18:34

Not wanting an argument, just wondering. Another Tory has been dismissed for dishonesty and day after day we hear of stories about people having to choose between heating and eating. Surely people realise we need a change of government? The NHS and other support services such as teachers are on strike. What next?

Mum1976Mum
we spend every penny we have on private school. If labour get in they will take away their charity status even though this will stop children like ours going who certainly aren’t rich and will stop all bursaries going forward

In the Sunday Telegraph/Times yesterday - apparently Starmer benefitted from a bursary in the sixth form although he "doesn't recall" how his sixth form place at private school was funded (possibly part-funded by his 'working class' family if he can't actually remember);

That reminds me of an old joke @Clavinova.

I only hate two things about the Tory party.
Their face.😆

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/01/2023 19:45

For any single issue voters out there, I hear the SDP are solidly and consistently WAW and TWAM.Smile

disclaimer: I am not in England so you might want to check them out yerself.

Labour MP Rosie Duffield Jan 2023

The Labour Party has a woman problem

The single issues being: Women's rights, single sex spaces, democracy, freedom of speech, regressive stereotyping of sex roles, freedom from faith-based party politics, biological reality, gender faith, safe-guarding in institutions, social progressivism and extreme conformity, the medicalisation of identity, the medicalisation of children, the policing of language in politics, the demonisation of political dissenters, the political capture of policing? That single issue?

Women's rights @FourTeaFallOut! Women's rights that this Tory government have systematically destroyed since 2010! And there's still 2 years to go.🤦‍♀️

Some Tories know what a woman is.
Some Tories think a man can be a woman.🤯
The Tory party don't give a shit about women either way.🤷‍♀️

FourTeaFallOut · 31/01/2023 20:28

There will be nothing but the shadow of women's rights remaining if we have a government that willingly gags those who speak about women as a discrete sex class. There will just be the wilderness of word salad.

FourTeaFallOut · 31/01/2023 20:36

Can you settle down with your emojis? I'm not patronising your opinion, I just disagree with it. Maybe you could do the same?

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/01/2023 20:53

Women's rights are already a shadow of what they were in 2010. Tory MP's have called the police on women for retweeting JKR. Word salad, www.spectator.co.uk/article/penny-mordaunt-is-wrong-to-repeat-the-trans-allies-mantra/ from this Tory government is responsible for the mess we're in now.🙄

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/01/2023 20:54

I ❤ my emojis.😊

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2023 20:57

How do people look at Scotland and see where the left can go with this and feel secure re Labour not doing the same?

I know posters can run with things as is their right but I’m glad the other threads are full of women just being straight on the issue.

Nat6999 · 31/01/2023 20:58

Keir Starmer & Labour are starting to sound more like a potential government than Labour have in the last 13 years. It will be interesting to see their manifesto when we get closer to the General Election.

verdantverdure · 31/01/2023 21:01

I'll vote tactically for whoever I think can kick my Tory MP out. The country can't afford another Tory government.

verdantverdure · 31/01/2023 21:02

Im not single issue because we're a whole country and I don't just vote for me.

LiquoriceAllsort2 · 31/01/2023 22:52

Abhannmor · 31/01/2023 14:20

All the selfish old fools who voted Tory and Brexit are worried Labour might get in . So they want to go abroad. But where ? Where ? All this red tape and new rules in the EU. It's an outrage.

I'm sure that ghastly Corbyn chap is behind it all.

The Algarve looks nice.. residence with an income of a mere 24000 euros.

Minimal tax implications, I know a couple of fellow business owners going.

radrado · 31/01/2023 22:55

@verdantverdure my voting for women’s and girls rights isn’t just voting for myself. In fact it’s the vulnerable women who will be/are being affected by all this craziness the most. The poor, ill, imprisoned, young, those who don’t have a voice. Listen to some stories of women’s traumatic experiences in jails with trans women. Young 16 year old girls having to undress and spray tan in front of a rapist, bring forced to call him “her” because he said he was a woman. Listen to Lia Thomas’s competitors who lost medals and had to get changed in front of a biological man. I’m not voting just for me.

radrado · 31/01/2023 22:56

Ps I’m in Scotland and it’s intense here but watch out, it’s coming your way if Labour get in.

Ssssssshhhhh · 31/01/2023 22:59

If the Tories did manage to miraculously win the next election then they will know that they will have virtually free reign to do what they like in the next parliament and I’m certain they will take full advantage of that.

After the recent turmoil though I can’t see it although if “loveable rogue” Johnson heads them up again then who knows !

Timewilltell519 · 31/01/2023 23:00

Never heard of such stupidity in a post ever! The racism is so obvious. It’s because of people like you voting for this pathetic government that the country is going down the drain. Bet you’re hoping Farage makes a come back. Next time you’re in a and e or when you get old eventually, let’s see if you turn down a ‘minority’ who is propping up this country’s nhs and care system.

Timewilltell519 · 31/01/2023 23:03

@barneshome that reply above was in response to your post!

Mezmer · 31/01/2023 23:11

What else is there to vote for when they are the ONLY party to have not given up their minds and souls to the grievance gerbils who peddle critical social justice extremism such as TWAW and queer theory poison. I would live a suitable alternative but I am not giving my vote to a bunch of flat earth supporters. So it’ll have to be the Tories.

Mydogatemypurse · 31/01/2023 23:17

Because people live in a self protected bubble where they actively turn a blind eye to reality as long as their life is good. They dont give a shit about others, want more money for themselves and not to see ugly homeless, old or disabled people and happy for them to die to put more in their own pot.

Entirely self funded eh? What does that even mean? That you've never received benefits or taken a loan/finance of any kind?

Well, that's great for you but unless you've never employed anyone, never subcontracted, never used a supplier for goods or materials, never taken a mortgage, never driven on a public road, never used electricity/gas from the grid, never bought food from a supermarket, never atteneded school/college/uni or sent your kids there, never needed a doctor or hospital, never had your bins collected, etc, etc, being "self-funded" isn't an achievement.

You have been able to plan and save for your retirement partly because you have "worked hard", partly because you found a niche you could exploit, and mostly because you are part of a functioning, educated, and healthy society (relatively speaking) that facilitated your business.

You have repeatedly voted for a party that has constantly picked at the seams of the fabric of society, to the point it is now starting to unravel. Yet, your response is not to take ownership and try to address the consequences of your actions but to threaten to "relocate overseas" if anyone else should try to do so. In my opinopn this county would be in a far better situation of people like you had relocated overseas a long time ago.

And, of course the massive increase in property value is entirely unearned and untaxed.
