Lighthearted!!

Which person is right?

Person A is tattoo owner and says it’s one single tattoo as it’s of siblings names and was completed in one session.

Person B says they count as two separate small tattoos as there is too much of a gap to be counted as one.

YABU - Person A is correct, it’s one tattoo
YANBU - Person B is correct, it’s two tattoos

Is person B the tattooist wanting to charge per tattoo?

Disappointingbiscuit · 27/01/2023 09:01

Two objects in a painting don't have to be connected to be in the same painting. This is the same, it is one tattoo in my opinion

No, I’m person B, her friend. The tattoo/s are 11 years old.

They look like two separate tattoos. But if your friend whose wrist they are on and whose children’s names they are, thinks of it as one tattoo, why not? It is a shame they’re not linked by ink, but if she’s thinking of it as a list maybe she’s just hedging her bets in case of more future babies…

merryhouse · 27/01/2023 09:03

I think it's one.

Imagine the entire arm, probably free of other tattoos? Then just approaching the wrist you have these two lines. Aesthetically it's part of the same structure.

A painting or other artwork usually has a defined area (like the frame or canvas). If these tattoos had a frame, that would make them one.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 27/01/2023 09:13

I read this and thought they were the names of person A's siblings and I wondered why the hell anyone would get their siblings names tattooed on them!

I now realise that the two people named are siblings and are probably person A's kids.

I'm an idiot.

SunshineAndFizz · 27/01/2023 09:14

I'd say two. They look like they were done separately, nothing tying them together (i.e. a border, a background design). Or if it had "&" in between it would look like one.

Summa is a variant of the feminine name Suma. Its exact meaning and origin are uncertain. In Latin, Summa means ‘summary’. The name may have come from Italy where it has been used as a locational surname, given to a person from Somma. It may have later then been used as a feminine forename.

Unfortunate it comes across as an icky spelling of Summer. Itself a fairly 🤮 name.

I'd say her wrist is the frame. Or maybe OP could get a square tattooed around them 😁

"Take your stupid judgement of strangers elsewhere."

Only person I'm judging is the person who posted this. Obvious what your intention was.

stripedsox · 27/01/2023 09:31

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, Mn is no different. Those tattoos are not to my taste but if the wearer is happy with them, it doesn't matter what randoms thing. If I was the wearer I wouldn't engage with negative comments, my body my choice.

SHE ASKED ME TO POST IT!!! She wanted to see what other people thought as we couldn’t agree!

I haven’t done anything ‘’pass agg’’ at all, to me her daughter’s name isn’t funny or up for ridicule because that’s just her name that she got from a late relative and I’m used to it. I’ve known my friend for 15 years, since before her daughter was even born.

You’re talking through your backside.

@Thegreatdebate1 you made a mistake thinking you could post a "lighthearted" in aibu. Unless you are in a relationship mess, have financial ruin, or a CF parking on your drive.. your going to get nasty people 😂

I agree. I'd say that's one tattoo compromising of two names.

I love the fact of somebody saying that the name summa was based on Latin. Is Younique a Latin word, too?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/01/2023 16:55

Two and not very good ones at that

lovelilies · 27/01/2023 17:21

If it said Ariadne and Octavia the haters would be quieter 😅

I love the fact that other people have such sad and miserable lives that they feel the need to bring other people down when it’s completely uncalled for.

It makes me feel a whole lot better safe in the knowledge that I don’t need to resort to that kind of petty arseholery in order to feel fulfilled and reminds me that my own life isn’t too bad.

I'm confused why it matters?

Is it to do with cost or what??

It doesn’t matter. It was a light hearted debate between friends. Why does everything have to be so serious these days? 😂

Tattooist here!
I’d be counting that as two separate tattoos.
(They would both need their own stencil due to the gap)

BarnacleNora · 27/01/2023 21:16

@Pinball2023 honestly if you'd had my first birth you'd have been skipping to the elective the second time round! It was a horror show 😂

Pinball2023 · 28/01/2023 20:36

@BarnacleNora My first birth I threatened suicide to the midwives in desperation I get it. It was a pathetic threat because I threatened to jump out of a ground floor window haha. A C section birth scares me, but I think knowing the date and being "not in pain" prior to the surgery would terrify me

Soubriquet · 28/01/2023 20:39

Well now you’ve made me think.

See I’ve got two tattoos but now maybe I haven’t maybe I have more.

Like, would you count this as 1 or 3?
