Settle a debate - Is this one tattoo or two?

Lighthearted!!

Which person is right?

Person A is tattoo owner and says it’s one single tattoo as it’s of siblings names and was completed in one session.

Person B says they count as two separate small tattoos as there is too much of a gap to be counted as one.

YABU - Person A is correct, it’s one tattoo
YANBU - Person B is correct, it’s two tattoos

@Thegreatdebate1 apologies. I genuinely meant no offence. I have asked for my comment to be removed. I had a chuckle at my own interpretation of the name variation. On reflection, I was wrong to verbalise. I apologise.

pocketvenuss · 27/01/2023 07:39

@Thegreatdebate1 Summa is a variant of the feminine name Suma. Its exact meaning and origin are uncertain.
I'm glad you clarified. I thought it was some butchered version of 'summer'

Thegreatdebate1 · 27/01/2023 07:45

@pocketvenuss it is pronounced Summer, and I’ve known a couple of people with that name.

I don’t know why people find it so funny personally. It’s not half as funny as other names I’ve seen being mentioned on here.

@pocketvenuss On looking it up briefly the name Summa/Suma goes back a lot farther than "summer" as a name although pronounced the same. Its probably easier to not judge people so quickly :)

@Thegreatdebate1 why the debate? Does it matter if it's one or two? Surely the best person to know is the artist? If it's two artists, then definitely two tattoos. If one artist, ask them!!

It doesn’t really matter, it was a lighthearted debate between friends that got heated in a humorous way because I’m 100% confident it’s two tattoos and my friend who has them doesn’t agree and sees it as one.

I also think two tattoos as nothing specific linking them (and although they were done at the same time no one would know that).

SheWoreYellow · 27/01/2023 07:53

I am confused about how they were done on the same day - they are different sizes. I’d say two tattoos based on that. They don’t match.

Quite right OP, Summa is no worse than Persephone for example.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 27/01/2023 08:04

Top one say Harvey and I think the bottom one says Summa (poss trying to you neek)

In that case I'd say 2 as they don't line up perfectly suggesting they are separate ones done close together.

getreadyy · 27/01/2023 08:15

Nah. Anyone who uses MN would know the reaction to the name Summa spelt like that.

You knew exactly the way this would go before you posted. Pass agg or what? Take it your "friend" doesn't use MN and was unaware she was in for a pile on?

My friend asked me to post it to see what others thought. She reads MN but doesn’t post.

What pile on? A few nasty and sad people who spend their time bullying people online?

I will still pull them up on it though as it’s just needless.

Take your stupid judgement of strangers elsewhere.

OP Don't worry it's clear you were being lighthearted. If the names were Jayden and Hayden you probably wouldn't have got those comments 😂

LookItsMeAgain · 27/01/2023 08:33

So the deciding factor is actually when they were done (as in at the same time as each other or not) rather than the distance apart on the skin.

So if they were done on the same day, Person A is saying that they are the same tattoo, but if you got one done and then went back the next day to get the other one done, they would be separate tattoos in their mind, irrespective of where you got them done on your body??? That's a crazy way to see it.

If you got a rose on your left arm and a daisy on your right, at the same time, would Person A think that they were the same tattoo?? If Person A says no, they're clearly different, then they are talking out of their hat. Actually they are still talking out of their hat. A single tattoo list has something linking them either behind the text or like putting the names in a love heart or something. That isn't there.

By the way, I love the script style and it's very classy.

barneshome · 27/01/2023 08:35

Like all tattoos it is cheap and vile

Pinball2023 · 27/01/2023 08:36

@LookItsMeAgain Would song lyrics or a phrase be one tattoo in your opinion?

Pinball2023 · 27/01/2023 08:37

@barneshome That's insightful 😂

Tattoos aren't cheap and, based on your attitude, you don't really know the meaning of the word unless you're happy to be a hypocrite

I would class them as two tattoos.

But, does it matter?

Pinball2023 · 27/01/2023 08:49

OP I think I think you've caused a clash between people who are, or think they are a different class. Did you really mean this lighthearted? 😳 🤣

Totally! My friend asked me to post it as we can’t agree.

I should have known MN was going to be full of snobs 😂

2 really ugly tattoos

peaceandpotato · 27/01/2023 08:56

GoodChat · 27/01/2023 06:43

I'm going against the grain here. I'd say it's one tattoo based on the second picture - they looked further apart on the first.

People saying no ink links the tattoos don't make much sense as you can have a picture tattoo with separate elements.

Same
