I thought they'd check my stomach and made sure nothing blocked, blood pressure...the lump on head and check bloods inxSe I've suddenly become diabetes etc ..or a hundred other things I don't know!

I felt then like it was going to happen again and a and e would be best place to pass out for any number of issue's.

The absolute last place any sane person would want to choose to be is a stuffy germ ridden a and e ward.

If you think you're going to faint and you're somewhere safe, the floor is the best place to go. As I said, fainting is really uncommon, rarely serious and unlikely to bump you up the triage list, even if you faint in front of a doctor.

If your husband is with you, sit on the floor, with him propping you up from behind. It's always best to sit on the floor than on an actual chair - the fall from a chair to the ground is not nice.

If you can't get a GP appointment and it's not urgent... have you tried a pharmacist? People often overlook how highly trained they are. They can typically either help, or confirm for you that you need more help than they can give!

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 18:14

@Nocutenamesleft ..it's at base of head/skull but ok n my neck.
It could be entirely unrelated I'm just wondering all these little things over the last few days...maybe something bigger brewing.

@waterfallswillfindyou .. thank you.

😊

When it happened I was literally about to collect my pet at the vet! Shea has an operation and it happened just as she was telling me after care!

I was too jittery and scared to drive home and felt unwell so waiting for DH to get me.

I'm at home now.

Panic attack?
Low iron?
Blood pressure?
could be a number of different things. If you concerned your GP not Mumsnet is the best place for advice

I fainted in a&e waiting with someone else. They didn’t do anything. So I don’t think they’d help after it’s all over.

I did this and ended up on a trolley with a drip in the assessment unit Blush

Were you in a consultation room? If so I'd say definite panic attack. They're horrible rooms.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 26/01/2023 18:19

Why would a lump on your head suddenly cause you to be diabetic?

You sound massively over-anxious and I'm not sure the advice you'll get here will be the best. Stay tucked up in bed, have lots of fluids and stay warm. Have a sleep and see if you feel better in the morning.

And make an appointment with your GP (if you can!) or call 111.

This is not an A&E situation.

Bluestripeddress · 26/01/2023 18:19

And people wonder why there are such long waits at a and e!

You didn’t answer my questions about diabetes? What other symptoms of diabetes have you had recently? If you go back you’ll see my reply

purplecorkheart · 26/01/2023 18:22

I suggest that in the short-term (this evening or tomorrow morning) go to the pharmacy and get a blood sugar Monitor and also something for constipation. The blood sugar monitor would be good for bring the readings to your GP for the diabetes blood test (fasting first). This will not be done in A&E. The pharmacist will advise about the best times to take reading
The constipation tablets I suggest as you feel an stomach blockage and warm and feel like fainting. I have had that with constipation and it felt like something large was trapped in my stomach rather than bowel (Sorry probably tmi). The lump at the base of your head I cannot comment on.

ShippingForecastMeditator · 26/01/2023 18:23

I can sympathise OP. You sound like me in the years it took to be diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. It's horrible how the anxiety can escalate when you don't feel 'quite right' and don't feel as though anyone's listening.

Make an appointment with your GP (I know, easier said than done) and in the meantime write down everything that's bothering you so you can take it to your appointment. A lot of it might be anxiety but underneath that there could be something that needs to be treated. Don't let the GP fob you off. Mine hinted he thought I was a hypochondriac and my diagnosis only happened because I'm assertive and knew something wasn't right.

AnnieFarmer · 26/01/2023 18:24

I had a lump on my neck once that turned out to be a build up of lactic acid. My friend (a beauty therapist) diagnosed it and massaged it out. It was actually quite big so I had been worried. So don’t panic OP not all lumps and bumps are sinister.

Why do you think you may have 'suddenly become diabetic'?

They won't check bloods unless they suspect something is wrong and they are looking for something in particular.

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 18:27

What can be done for low blood pressure? What causes it?

It definitely felt more like years ago when I had. X section they say...you may feel unwell when we do blah that would be low blood pressure and tell us and we will adjust X.

Definitely felt more that sort of thing than room swaying dizzy

OP posts:
Princesspollyyy · 26/01/2023 18:29

But you haven't been diagnosed with low blood pressure, or anything!

Phone the GP tomorrow and just concentrate on resting. It sounds like a lot
of these symptoms are from panicking.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 26/01/2023 18:31

After your updates, it sounds like a panic attack.

Get some rest and make an appointment with your gp. Panic attacks are horrendous Flowers

CPL593H · 26/01/2023 18:31

You do sound as if you have a lot of anxiety OP. Diabetes will not cause some of the other things you're worried about. Get rest and get a GP appointment.

Princes

It's extremely hard trying to get into GP appointment.id already called today before this happened..

What had you called for, out of curiosity?

Princesspollyyy · 26/01/2023 18:33

So do an e-consult?

Do not think of going to A&E please! And try and stay away from Dr Google.

Mines low. So low I am refused gym membership. I inherited it. My son has it. I just know that I can faint (3 times in my life, I’m 50 now) and I know what to do if I feel faint. I think what you need is GP reassurance.

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 18:33

Why would a panic attack happen when I'm in. Pet shop perusing cat toys waiting for my cat to be given back though?

But wouldn't a e do blood what if it's something like diabetes? Scan or feel my stomach?

Think you can have all that stuff done in the doctor surgery make a gp appointment
could be anxiety? I have had similar from panic attacks and anxiety attacks

itswednesdayy · 26/01/2023 18:35

I’m so confused by OP’s posts. They don’t really make sense, though I appreciate you’re not well. Did you already go to A&E or not? If so, what happened?

Sorry but this possibly 'something bigger brewing' further makes me think of health anxiety.
