I came over incredibly hot and head felt strange and nearly passed out.

Do you suffer with health anxiety?

Ludo19 · 26/01/2023 17:35

@FlissyPaps fabulous name 🤣

JennieMassie · 26/01/2023 17:38

Even if it is something serious, I very much doubt A&E will do anything or take it seriously. More likely you'll end up waiting 20 hours and catch something while there only to be fobbed off. Agree with trying GP first.

declutteringmymind · 26/01/2023 17:40

Call 111 and see if you can get an out of hours GP appt. Likely to be quicker than A&E and you can rest while 111 arranges it.

NerrSnerr · 26/01/2023 17:40

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:10

I'd I go home and it happens when what.

We have an oximeter and my heart and oxygeh is fine

If you go home and you then pass out you either call 111 or go to a&e depending on what happens when you come around. I'm a bit of a fainter and do every couple of years. I have only needed a&e when I have bashed my head, the other times it was sorted by the GP (its usually when I'm a anaemic).

You'll be better off going to bed and getting an emergency go appointment in the morning.

Nocutenamesleft · 26/01/2023 17:42

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:06

But wouldn't a e do blood what if it's something like diabetes? Scan or feel my stomach?

No. These can be done at a GP surgery

HowcanIhelp123 · 26/01/2023 17:43

Depends on the context. Nearly fainting as a one off and recovering isn't something to be worried about. I remember nearly fainting in tesco one afternoon, I had two toddlers, was exhausted and had forgotten to eat all day being so busy running round after them. Did jolt me into paying more attention to my own health!

If its happening regularly or associated with other symptoms then I'd contact GP, you've not injured yourself, you're not in imminent danger. Obv if have chest pain etc then I would go, but due to chest pain not the nearly fainting.

A&E is if you did pass out and hit your head, fell down stairs etc or you had reason to think your life was in imminent danger such as one sided weakness, were seizing, happening multiple times in a short period.

Mumsnet can't tell you which of those you are.

Hellohellomrt · 26/01/2023 17:43

Sorry but this is why there are such long waits for a&e for people who genuinely need if!

See your GP and stop clogging up the system!

My partner has Epilepsy and even he doesn't go to A&E after a seizure, unless he's actually injured himself.

You really should educate yourself on the use of A&E!

Nocutenamesleft · 26/01/2023 17:43

So I work in endocrine. Do you have any immediate signs of diabetes?

Outfor150 · 26/01/2023 17:43

No, don’t go to A and E. Make a GP appointment.

Singleandproud · 26/01/2023 17:44

You haven't lost consciousness no need for A&E. You can't turn up because 'I've felt a bit weird a week'.

Ring your GP and turn back from the hospital. If you are of child bearing age perhaps try a pregnancy test, I've only ever been faint when I was pregnant.

TBOM · 26/01/2023 17:45

Jeez, this is why A&E is breaking. Call 111 or make a GP appointment. Absolutely ridiculous to go to A&E.

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:46

I'm back at home, DH thought that best as well and I feel better but in bed.

I've felt very mild strange all week culminating in this.
I've been an hour on the floor of a pet shop.

To those that give kind advice thank you. To those that post " please don't abuse the system" could I ask mnhw and yourself to think about what you are writing and how you are helping someone?

You don't know me or anything about me or what else could be going in.

MN has been amazing when people aren't well which is why I'm asking here.
I couldn't get seen earlier ironically I had just spoken to the GP reception when this happened telling me to couldn't see me today
I've fainted a years ago and room was spinning and I felt sick.
This was very different. A different feeling....which is what has scared me.

Thanks fo the support poster's I'm in bed waiting on 111 I'm just concerned about it happen again.

Can you book GP appointments online or consult with your GP online?

Do the 111 online assessment if you feel desperate.

Princesspollyyy · 26/01/2023 17:52

What do you mean, you've been an hour on the floor of a pet shop?

MichelleScarn · 26/01/2023 17:52

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:10

I'd I go home and it happens when what.

Echoing the health anxiety posters op, that's a whole host of things you think you have.
Why do you have an oximeter at home?

Princesspollyyy · 26/01/2023 17:52

You said in your opening post you didn't pass out?

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:52

@Nocutenamesleft

I don't know what the signs are. I had a salad lunch and then a Turkish delight!

I've got lots of very mild symptoms eg for fhe past few days I had a very mild throbbing in lower back. No pain but slight discomfort.

My left knee area felt weird.

Walking along I felt very occasionally sort of eyes strange this week like floor not even but nothing extreme...

Feel slightly heavy in stomach area on left but I e been the loo...

The. Finally I felt this lump between base of skull and neck and wonder of pressing that did anything?

I've felt however on spite of all this minor stuff very good today, lots of washing and I nearly did some exercise!

Then as I was in shop I felt too to toe burning hot....head heavy... immediately sat on floor, lady was talking and I thought I was going to go.

If you go to A&E when your situation is not an accident or an emergency then telling someone “don’t abuse the system” is factual and fair advice.

The NHS is at breaking point. People who need urgent and critical care can’t receive it adequately because the hospitals and emergency departments are dangerously understaffed.

Someone waltzing into A&E stating they’ve felt “off all week” and worried about “diabetes” is a pure slap in the face to patients suffering life threatening illnesses and injuries, as well as trauma victims. (Car crashes, accidents etc)

You don't know me or anything about me or what else could be going in.

Which is why you should phone 111 or visit a walk in centre/pharmacy.

I’m not saying this to be rude to you OP, but to educate you and give some perspective.

I work for the NHS. Please don’t abuse it.

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 26/01/2023 17:53

It sounds like a bad dose of health anxiety to me. When you say that we don't know anything about you or what else could be going on, do you mean that you haven't included some highly relevant medical information, or do you mean that you've had a bit of a shit time recently? If the latter, that is miserable but it's not life-threatening.

It's not even remotely clear what you mean when you say that you've been on the floor of a pet shop for an hour.

Hellohellomrt · 26/01/2023 17:53

Good choice to turn back and stay at home.

It sounds scary what you've experienced, I'm sure no one is doubting that but you surely have been watching the news/reading the papers etc- the NHS, particularly a&e departments are under massive strain and issues like this is not for them to deal with.

If you get no luck with 111 call your GP surgery tomorrow and see how they can help you, I'm sure if they feel you need to be seen urgently tomorrow they will see you.

Just take it easy for the rest of the evening, I hope you have some luck wkth your GP tomorrow.

MichelleScarn · 26/01/2023 17:54

How big was your 'salad' lunch?

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:54

@FlissyPaps

I don't need an. A and e lecture.... your talking to someone at home scared in bed wondering what's wrong with me.
I won't give you my private medical run down but please please go away

OP posts:
Princesspollyyy · 26/01/2023 17:54

Tbh it sounds like you've got health anxiety. All the symptoms you are listing sound like such random things that aren't connected, eg, your lower back has been painful, and your knee has felt weird.

Maybe see your GP about health anxiety.

Justmeandthedog1 · 26/01/2023 17:55

All your GP tomorrow.
I had some of your symptoms when I had low blood pressure.
And your strange stomach feeling when I had my first attack of diverticulitis and didn’t know what it was.
So really your symptoms could be anything.
Stay in bed, drink water, see your GP asap.
Im not a medic.
