But wouldn't a e do blood what if it's something like diabetes? Scan or feel my stomach?

A GP is who you need to book in to see if you want a blood test and a referral for a scan, this isn't what A & E is for.

AlmondBake · 26/01/2023 17:09

I also discovered a lump under my skull and pressed it and it made me feel weird. All week I've felt very slightly wobbly.

Not sure how that's possible? You might be able to feel a lump under your scalp but not under your skull. A lump on your scalp is likely to be any number of harmless things.

Sounds like a trip to the dr to me. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

2023bebetter · 26/01/2023 17:09

I'm worried about diabetes or something trapped in stomach.

I'm on way to and and a but obviously don't really want to go

I'd I go home and it happens when what.

We have an oximeter and my heart and oxygeh is fine

@2023bebetter a and e wont check your blood for diabetes - that is a test that needs to be done via your GP. And as for scanning stomach, highly unlikely - if you went you're likely to be referred to your gp, who will do an outpatient referral.

I would make an appointment with your regular GP; as a pp has said - what you have described is as you would feel pre-faint, and likely to be viral.

I feel something on my left is blocked but no pain...eg something in digestion?

I also discovered a lump under my skull and pressed it and it made me feel weird. All week I've felt very slightly wobbly.

But fine. I don't want to go to a Ns e but I feel scared

Where on your left OP?

Arm, leg, chest?

How do you feel under your skull? Do you men just below? The neck/face area?

If you feel scared then you need to try your best into calming down. Just sit or lay down and concentrate on your breathing. Have a warm sugary drink and a glass of water to sip on.

Phone 111 if you’re concerned. And make a GP appointment as soon as you can to discuss your symptoms.

People on Mumsnet are not going to diagnose you.

Good luck waiting 12 hours in a&e. You’ve probably picked up a bug if you’ve got stomach pain and it caused you to nearly pass out. Plenty of fluids and bed rest and you’ll be fine.

HelloDaisy · 26/01/2023 17:13

Probably your best plan is to ring your gp and get an appt to see someone, or if you have a walk in centre near you go there and see what they think.

How old are you? I am perimenopausal and have had the same sort of thing have been told they are Adrenalin rushes. However it is best to get them checked to be sure…

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 26/01/2023 17:14

Are you suffering from anxiety?

I don't think you need to go to the hospital. Make an appointment with your gp - get your blood pressure checked, stay hydrated, eat regular meals and try to keep your stress levels down.

Skinnermarink · 26/01/2023 17:15

Really would be better to phone 111/GP and wait it out, to be honest. Look after yourself at home. Would be a bloody nightmare waiting in a&e when you could be in bed drinking lots of fluids.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 26/01/2023 17:15

Sounds like a possible stomach bug to me. You really would be better staying at home, if your heart and oxygen are ok then you won't really score on NEWS and will be way way down the list at a and e I'm afraid.

Plenty of fluids and a sleep will do the trick.

liveforsummer · 26/01/2023 17:17

As above. This is not for A&E and they won't test you there for diabetes as you aren't showing signs of an immediate crisis. Fainting is more likely to be caused by low blood sugar anyway, not the high that would be the case of you were diabetic. You can get an instant blood sugar test at a local pharmacy though so go and rule that out. If bloods are high or other symptoms continue then make a GP appointment

starsparkle08 · 26/01/2023 17:17

not even a job for the gp but if you must I’d see them . Don’t waste a and e time 🙄

FlissyPaps · 26/01/2023 17:18

I’m sorry OP but turn back now. Please don’t abuse the system. Your symptoms are not an accident or emergency. Please understand this.

This is partly why the NHS is on its knees. People are abusing the system. Instead of calling 111, or visiting pharmacies or GPs.

You will have a horrendously long wait, in an uncomfortable and cramped area.

Please go home, rest, drink water and phone 111 for advice. They will ask you questions and advise you on what action to take next.

Or visit a pharmacy, some pharmacists are more knowledgeable than doctors. They will be able to give you over the counter treatment to ease any of your present symptoms.

OopsAnotherOne · 26/01/2023 17:20

Also OP, as you're not going to be presenting at A&E with either an accident or an emergency, you'll be waiting for hours as they'll consider you "low priority" compared to other patients who require immediate or life-saving treatment.

You'd be much better off resting at home, having lots of fluids, getting some sleep and getting a GP appointment if you still feel you need one. You may end up speaking to a GP on the phone faster than you'll be seen by a doctor in A&E depending on the wait-times. This is not something that needs treating by an emergency department.

I think you might have a point!

mummabubs · 26/01/2023 17:21

I've passed out a few times before and it's a horrible sensation, so I completely understand why it was an unpleasant and scary experience for you.

Having said that... This sounds more like anxiety. Scary, but not appropriate for A&E. They won't automatically do bloods or scans as it's not an emergency (i.e imminently life-threatening), that's for a GP to refer you for. I mean this in a kind way, as I really do sympathise with how you're feeling, but this is absolutely not an A&E job and is (albeit not maliciously-intentioned) using their valuable resources inappropriately. You need to see a GP if you're worried for a routine assessment and referral if need be.

OopsAnotherOne · 26/01/2023 17:22

OP - would you consider your condition a Life threatening illness or accident which requires immediate, intensive treatment?" As that is the NHS's own definition of emergency.

I understand it's scary to feel like this when something isn't right, but if it's neither an accident nor an emergency, you shouldn't be taking up time in A&E when they are already completely overstretched as it is.

Vanillazebra · 26/01/2023 17:24

Sounds like an anaphylactic reaction, my friend’s kid has her reactions to peanuts like this. Super hot, has to strip off fainting. Did you eat something beforehand? Honestly it could be something else but that’s my thoughts

Swiftswatch · 26/01/2023 17:24

It sounds like you have some underlying health anxiety, you’re rambling about all sorts of things that don’t seem linked in any way it even new.
Nearly fainting isn’t really an accident or an emergency.

LaLoose · 26/01/2023 17:29

You have health anxiety and it is centred around worries about your weight (diabetes / digestion). You have possibly been reading up on diabetes type-2 symptoms, which have fed into your health anxiety. They can manifest through the power of your (very powerful) anxious mind.

Please don't go to A&E. Ask your GP for IAPT

MuckyPlucky · 26/01/2023 17:29

Why would a “blocked” feeling on your left side and a “lump under your skull” point to diabetes OP?? You seem frenzied with fears, out of all proportion.

This is why poor A&E staff are on their knees fighting back the tides.

If OP has been feeling like this for a week, I very much doubt it is anaphylaxis.
