I have a chicken Kyiv that I was planning to eat tonight for dinner, however, just noticed the date on it is 20th of January. Is this still okay to eat or should I bin?

>Like Kolkata for example, yes it’s still an anglicised version of the Bengali name but there has been an official change from Calcutta and it’s easy to respect that.

I have a friend who was born there, has an Indian passport, speaks Bengali and Hindi and while in the UK will always use the C version with me and wince if I try to use the K one. There's no knowing with people what's the 'right' approach and one just uses tact.

Most of my relatives in Ukraine are in a city I'll call Dnipro. In full there's both a Ukrainian and a Russian spelling. When chatting online (more often in English because their English is better than my Russian - and most speak Russian rather than Ukrainian at home) they flip between Lvov/Lviv, Kiev/Kyiv etc. knowing that my preference is for Ukrainian style. That's apart from Odessa/Odesa where I prefer the former because when thinking and speaking in English I prefer a double 'ess'.

Call garlicky stuffed chicken what you like in 99% of conceivable situations.

I’d better start singing songs from Miss Hoh Chi Min City and drinking Mumbai Sapphire with my tonic then.

🤣 Mumbai Sapphire would be a great Lidl dupe gin!
