I have a chicken Kyiv that I was planning to eat tonight for dinner, however, just noticed the date on it is 20th of January. Is this still okay to eat or should I bin?

I thought from the thread title this was going to be about Ukraine 🤣
Personally I'd eat if it was frozen and bin if it was fridge.

Isn’t it spelled Kiev?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 21/01/2023 13:57

It's one day. I'd eat it.

TeenagersAngst · 21/01/2023 13:57

Oh my god, it's one day 'out of date'. Just eat it!

EmpressOfTheSofa · 21/01/2023 13:57

We are NOT calling chicken kiev ‘chicken Kyiv’. That is wankery supreme. Stop.

not if you’re a virtue signaller

Some packaging has changed so it would seem we are

Mindymomo · 21/01/2023 13:59

One day out of date will be fine if it’s been in the fridge.

hadntbeen · 21/01/2023 14:00

So funny, I wrote on here a few weeks back about baked beans with chicken KIEV and spelt it KIEV and then people pulled me up for not spelling it KYIV. Can't win on Mumsnet honestly 😂

OP posts:
KnickerlessParsons · 21/01/2023 14:00

A) I'd eat it if it doesn't smell/have fur
B) Kiev is the Russian name for the city. Kyiv is the Ukrainian spelling.

Mamamia7962 · 21/01/2023 14:01

It will be fine. Eat it. I've eaten loads of stuff out of date and never been ill from it

SoupDragon · 21/01/2023 14:01

not if you’re a virtue signaller

Or simply a Sainsbury's shopper.

Depends where you get them from. In M&S they are Kyiv's.

Eat it. Only 1 day

ofwarren · 21/01/2023 14:02

I'd eat it one day out of date

EmpressOfTheSofa · 21/01/2023 14:03

I’d better start singing songs from Miss Hoh Chi Min City and drinking Mumbai Sapphire with my tonic then.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 21/01/2023 14:05

I'd eat it op. If it smelt ok

EmpressOfTheSofa · 21/01/2023 14:05

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 21/01/2023 14:04

Where have you been?

TBF I haven’t had a chicken kiev since the 80s so I may be out of touch.

It does feel achingly virtue signally though.

Only whilst partaking of a Chicken Chennai.....

Hawkins001 · 21/01/2023 14:07

From personal experience, they are good to eat if kept in the fridge,

Flapjackquack · 21/01/2023 14:07

WTF, not using the Russian version is not wankery or virtue signalling given the current situation.

The chicken kyiv will be fine just smell it first. There is a bit of leeway built into use by dates as the chicken doesn’t know it’s meant to go off at midnight.
