I keep craving coke.

The drink, not the drug.
Has to be full fat, not caffeine free etc.
I wasn’t bothered about it before really, maybe had a nice cold coke a few times a year with a pizza takeaway or McDonald’s, but generally never drank fizzy drinks, if I did it was Sprite/7 up.
I drink one coffee a day and the rest is water, fizzy flavoured waters.
I keep buying it now and thinking about it 🤷🏻‍♀️I could just drink a cold coke now..so weird.
Definitely not pregnant, have been ill (flu/cough etc) since the New year-when it started really, is it this? What the hell

Do you need to wee a lot? Thirst can be a sign of diabetes.

Flamingogirl08 · 19/01/2023 20:22

Oh i was about to say when I was pregnant it was all I could think about!

BertieBotts · 19/01/2023 20:24

It's the combination of sugar and caffeine. You can get addicted to coke quite easily.

Gunpowder · 19/01/2023 20:24

I used to be obsessed by Diet Coke - I switched to the caffeine free one so it wasn’t a caffeine addiction. I used to think about it all the time in a similar way - I don’t have any other addictions, it was so weird. I went cold turkey in the end and switched it for fizzy water.

Anyway I read the cravings can be caused by magnesium and calcium deficiencies, maybe you are depleted after being poorly? Epsom salts baths are good for magnesium.

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:24

@GoTeamRocket I get kidney stones quite easily, so am often thirsty and drink a lot, but never crave coke. Been tested for diabetes in case in the past, all clear 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Flamingogirl08 😂Def not that, more peri menopausal if anything, I didn’t crave coke during my pregnancy with my Dd either

It’s because it’s delicious

BakedTattie · 19/01/2023 20:26

When I was pregnant I craved diet cock. I never ever drink fizzy juice. Now and then I’ll crave it again and the husband gets worried.

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:27

@BertieBotts I’ve had friends in the past who drank a lot, I never bothered with it, just don’t understand why I’m wanting it a lot now, don’t want it to be a regular thing

I started doing this during lockdown but then I switched to iced tea, and now I make my own which is healthier. Would swapping to another soft drink or fizzy water work, so you could eventually dial down the sugar/additives etc?

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:27

@Gunpowder I do have slightly low magnesium and take supplements, so that’s interesting

I had this virus at the beginning of November. All I could and wanted to drink was bucket loads of coke. Got through three crates of it. I’m not the only one. Got chatting with a fellow addict during the virus in a supermarket. Now I’m better I can leave it - not bothered.

Diet cock. No wonder your husband gets worried 😆

wakeysleepy · 19/01/2023 20:29

Same @Flamingogirl08

I only normally have a fizzy can once a week with takeaway, but during pregnancy I could have inhaled coke 24/7.

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:30

@takealettermsjones I think I’ll have to, I mean even 7 up is probably better, I always feel bleurgh after it though. I just loved flavoured fizzy water before, v boring but at least healthy

Bigweekend · 19/01/2023 20:30

I don't drink any fizzy drinks as a rule but always fancy a Coke when I'm going down with something.

The drink, to clarify.

Inhaled was an interesting choice of words 😂

Bittercup · 19/01/2023 20:30

YANBU. We call it liquid crack in this house and rarely buy it because the whole lot gets guzzled in one night.

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:31

@BakedTattie 😅Diet cock

OP posts:
Mol1628 · 19/01/2023 20:32

It’s very easy to get addicted to. I would stop having it now before it becomes an issue.

It sounds ridiculous as it’s just a fizzy drink but I have real addiction problems with it and I’m better off cold Turkey with it 🤣

takealettermsjones · 19/01/2023 20:32

Nobody wants a diet cock do they. Full fat cock all the way. 🤭

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:33

@baffledcoconut God, how odd, this is the only thing that’s changed recently, been ill since New Year’s Eve on and off and it started then. I assumed I needed a sugar boost or something, but I’m still wanting it on occasions, but a lot
What was the virus/the symptoms?

I’m sorry @BakedTattie but your comment has made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣

I’m craving coke just having read your thread. I was ‘addicted’ to it in my early 20s, but haven’t been for many years now. However, I’ve just come from from a country where there weren’t many drink options and I was drinking the local version every day. Seems to have reactivated my old passion! I agree with a pp that it’s too addictive.
