I keep craving coke.

The drink, not the drug.
Has to be full fat, not caffeine free etc.
I wasn’t bothered about it before really, maybe had a nice cold coke a few times a year with a pizza takeaway or McDonald’s, but generally never drank fizzy drinks, if I did it was Sprite/7 up.
I drink one coffee a day and the rest is water, fizzy flavoured waters.
I keep buying it now and thinking about it 🤷🏻‍♀️I could just drink a cold coke now..so weird.
Definitely not pregnant, have been ill (flu/cough etc) since the New year-when it started really, is it this? What the hell

Also addicted to the full fat stuff, I call it my medicine because it makes my headaches and nausea so much better. I swear there's still a trace amount of cocaine in it Grin

@motherofawhirlwind Do you mind me asking what app that is? If anything is going to get me to stop, it's seeing how much money I'm wasting on it!

MenopausalMe · 19/01/2023 22:15

Craving coke was how one of my friends discovered they were diabetic, they hadn’t been craving any other sugar so worth getting another test if it’s been a few months since the last.

Lordofmyflies · 19/01/2023 21:46

I ration myself to one cock a day, otherwise my habit gets out of control.

Tomicca · 19/01/2023 22:18

It’s all the sugar it’s very addictive. I got addicted to red bull not for the caffeine kick but the sugar it’s all I could think about but I noticed if I had something sweet like piece of cake at lunch time I didn’t crave red bull as much.

Cailin66 · 19/01/2023 22:20

theswoot · 19/01/2023 20:26

It’s because it’s delicious

Nope, it’s because they have formulated it to be addictive. Sugar, caffeine or both.

You have to wean yourself off it. Slowly so you don’t get headaches or cravings.

VestaTilley · 19/01/2023 22:22

YANBU - it’s delicious. Ignore the cravings though, keep it as a treat!

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 19/01/2023 22:23

I crave sugary stuff when I am tired, or low in energy

easy to be low in energy in januari! It’s so bleak, not enough light, not enough vitamin d

Coyoacan · 19/01/2023 22:26

It's addictive, causes kidney stones and diabetes. Please be careful

SnowyOwl1 · 19/01/2023 22:26

@BakedTattie 🤣 totally understand why your husband gets worried.

Thesenderofthiscard · 19/01/2023 22:27

Coke is very addictive, sugar and caffeine.
if you want to get rid of the cravings ditch all coke, full or skinny.

moonwitchmum · 19/01/2023 22:27

I’m like this. I crave the feeling where it’s so fuzzy it sort of burns the back of my throat. I don’t know why

EmmaEmerald · 19/01/2023 22:28

Whatsssupppeurgh · 19/01/2023 20:35

@Bittercup I’m honestly thinking about it now, a really cold bottle of coke..already had one from the shop today. Picking up a few bits with Dd and felt thirsty, usually I’d grab us both a bottle of forest fruit water or lemon water, nope, big bottle of coke that I finished in the afternoon, just weird

You had a whole big bottle in the afternoon?

I've had a can open today and didn't finish it. So I'm wondering how big a bottle you had. Also wondering if you have blood sugar ups and downs?

limerentidiot · 19/01/2023 22:29

I love this thread so hard.

I’m supposed to be abstaining but I’ve already had one nice cold cock today and might go for another later.

chesirecat99 · 19/01/2023 22:31

The sugar and caffeine are incredibly addictive. I don't especially like it. If you offered me a coke now, I would probably say no. It's too sickly sweet. I can really take it or leave it.

However, I sometimes buy a crate for the (adult) DC when they are home from uni or for guests at Christmas. Usually I won't touch it BUT once in a while I might take one, say if there is nothing else cold in the fridge on a hot day, then BAM I suddenly start craving it. I'll want another one a few hours later, then another...

EmmaEmerald · 19/01/2023 22:32

Actually all this cock talk might put me off the next one!

I don't have cock everyday.

TheOriginalEmu · 19/01/2023 22:35

ThanksItHasPockets · 19/01/2023 21:26

If cock is rotting your insides and spiking your insulin then I am pretty sure you are doing
it wrong.

I’m babysitting my baby niece and I just woke her up howling laughing 😂

Justnot · 19/01/2023 22:36

Ever since I was pregnant I’ve loved coke but since I’ve been peri and now menopausal I get insane cravings - often before I have a hot flush - defo a guilty pleasure

TheOriginalEmu · 19/01/2023 22:38

Catonaroof2 · 19/01/2023 21:26

I had my first Covid infection last summer. I didn't lose taste and smell completely, but everything tasted and smelled of cheap, peachy perfume. Weirdly, I have never previously liked coke, but I'm totally on board with it now.

I was a fully fledged Diet Coke addict of many many years until I got the ‘vid in October 2021 and I’ve not touched it since because it tastes like soap now. I replaced my addiction with hot lemon water for a
while, but now it’s 7up 😂

Marmite17 · 19/01/2023 22:46

Itsokay2020 · 19/01/2023 22:13

This is weird! I gave up coke over 10 years ago and it’s never appealed to me since… until I came down with this awful cough and sore throat in late November! I literally craved it, the colder the better. Seven weeks on I am still unwell, but have gone cold Turkey on the coke as I know it’s so bad and the craving has stopped (thankfully).

Same here been ill since around mid December. Very ill, flu, for 2 weeks. Eventually got antibiotics. Ill again within days of stopping them. Most likely tonsillitis. Nauseous a lot of the time.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/01/2023 22:51

DuchessOfDisco · 19/01/2023 21:57

full Fat coke and salt and vinegar crisps are my go-to when I’m poorly and can’t taste properly (so colds/flu and was my entire diet during the 3 weeks I had covid the first time round).

i don’t particularly like either normally. I hope you feel better soon OP

I've had many a full sugar coke and bag of salt and vinegar crisps as a mid-run pick-me-up after mile 7. Instant energy, starch, salt replacement, fluids. Perfect. At that moment it's a divine combination.

I like my cock to have full energy 😁

Curlygirl06 · 19/01/2023 22:51

asblindasabat · 19/01/2023 20:33

I’m sorry @BakedTattie but your comment has made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣

Me too! As a typo, that's epic!

TeaAndTattoos · 19/01/2023 22:53

I use to be addicted to coke and Pepsi now I gave them all up last year I can’t drink any fizzy drinks anymore it gives me terrible trapped wind and it just wasn’t worth the discomfort anymore and having to lay in the fetal position and being able to feel my intestines swelling up and feeling it all moving about. Best thing I ever did was give up the fizzy drinks. I can now only drink anything none fizzy.

chesirecat99 · 19/01/2023 22:54

omnitea · 19/01/2023 21:49

I'm the same, I do not drink it everyday or even every week but I get so many headaches and the only thing that fixes it is coke so I will go a week with a headache everyday and then when I finally drink a can at the weekend my headache clears. I've tired matcha, strong coffee, other fizzy drinks, more water, going cold turkey for 6 weeks (yes that was 6 weeks with a constant headache). I see a neurologist for my headaches and he is baffled by it but he has other patients who say the same thing.

Interestingly coke was invented origionally as a headache cure:

www.linkedin.com/pulse/coca-cola-world-things-ronald-bartels-

Headaches can be caused by increased blood flow around the brain causing pressure. Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor that causes the blood vessels to narrow restricting the blood flow and alleviating the pain. You can buy painkillers with added caffeine. It's often in the branded painkillers that have "extra" or "plus" in their name.

Your neurologist ought to know that!

HaroldsWilly · 19/01/2023 21:31

It felt appropriate to crash this thread. I come with ice as standard.

Oh God I'm making funny noises, I'd like to say snorting but I think that wouldnt be in the spirit or something.

Anyway nice to meet you Harold's willy.

I drink coke rarely, I dont much like it, but a can and a massive burger and chips from maccyds or BK when hungover is the best thing. Kills me or cures me.

FamilyFunAdventure · 19/01/2023 22:59

Go cold turkey and give it up, it’s shite for your teeth and you.
