To be so embarrassed?

ToTheMax0 · 19/01/2023 19:00

Was facebook stalking a new male colleague. No reason really, just wanted to find out more about him.
Not sure how on earth I managed it but I ended up sharing his profile photo on my own page. Been up for at least an hour and sure people from work have seen.
Literally dying of embarrassment

OP posts:
PumpkinDart · 19/01/2023 19:02

I'm really sorry OP I have nothing comforting to say but other than resign with immediate effect I think you'll have to brazen it out. Did make me laugh though, which is a feat after the week I've had.

AgentProvocateur · 19/01/2023 19:03

I’m sorry, but this has made me laugh. But if I’d done this, I’d also be dying of embarrassment. Just style it out tomorrow and deny all knowledge. Say you were out and you didn’t even have your phone with you.

Member869894 · 19/01/2023 19:03

Same here. Very funny😀

Grapewrath · 19/01/2023 19:04

Hahaha I’d blame my kids and say they were fucking about with my phone

Blowyourowntrumpet · 19/01/2023 19:05

Oh no. I have no advice but it did make me laugh. Maybe it'll be the start of a beautiful friendship

SunshineClouds1 · 19/01/2023 19:06

😂😂😂

Can you wfh for the foreseeable?!

CheesusWept · 19/01/2023 19:06

There’s nothing else for it. You have to quit your job and leave the country. Today.

PinkiOcelot · 19/01/2023 19:06

Get someone to send a message saying your FB has been hacked.

SirenSays · 19/01/2023 19:07

Oh noo I think I'd trash my profile and claim I'd been hacked 😅

Christmaspyjamas · 19/01/2023 19:07

Oh no that is embarrassing.

But in an hour probably that many people won't have seen it.

Could you share all your other colleagues profile pics too one at a time? It would still be odd but at least would be democratic.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 19/01/2023 19:07

Do you have kids? Definitely blame them. Or the dog grabbed the phone. Or the cat walked across the screen....

Nah, you're toast. Sorry Op Grin

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 19/01/2023 19:08

In cases of accidental fuckwittedness like this (and being a sausage fingered nosey bastard it has happened to me) I always, always, blame my 100lb dog for it.

”Oops, apologies, sodding dog climbed on my lap.”

Or…blame the cat 😉

AuuYSC · 19/01/2023 19:09

Blame a toddler mines always messing with my phone although never done this but it's kinda funny sorry op

daemonologie · 19/01/2023 19:09

Oh my god. This post should have a trigger warning! I have no advice just feel for you.

MarmaladeCrumpets · 19/01/2023 19:09

You have to post a series of weird posts to look like you've been hacked

IvanaB · 19/01/2023 19:09

😳 worst nightmare 🫣

Mummieslncorporated · 19/01/2023 19:09

I honestly can't see how the hacking/kids/dog story will work - considering he's a new colleague and presumably isn't on ops friend's list.... it's going to be completely obvious that op was facebook stalking him...

Thanks for the laugh op, but I am so glad it wasn't me!

Applesandcarrots · 19/01/2023 19:09

There is a numbr of steps to share someone's pics on own timeline

Hazey19 · 19/01/2023 19:09

oh no! A similar thing happened to my friend years ago. She typed in an ex girlfriend of her boyfriends name into what she thought was her search bar to stalk but it wasn’t, it was her status. So the name was just her status for ages before we noticed. So no advice but commiserations and thanks for making me laugh this evening xxx

FannyFifer · 19/01/2023 19:10

Oh my god i am cringing on your behalf.

Bingobangodrinkacanoftango · 19/01/2023 19:11

Cringing for you OP! Hope the FB algorithm was on your side and lots of people didn’t see/notice it 😳

I genuinely don’t know if he would have got a notification though!

This is one of those “wake up in a cold sweat remembering this” randomly for the next decade - but I bet no one else will notice or remember really.

Landseer · 19/01/2023 19:13

This is hilarious 😂

Someone sent me a pm containing one of my own Facebook photos once. She then denied sending me it which made me think she meant to send it to someone who would bitch about me with her. I didn’t put much thought into it.

Yours is a bit more embarrassing though I have to admit

Worried2222 · 19/01/2023 19:16

This really made me laugh as well.

Delete and deny all knowledge is my advice.

Cheesies · 19/01/2023 19:16

I was fb stalking an ex boyfriend some years ago and managed to accidentally tag myself in a photograph of him and his new gf! It took me weeks to notice. Thankfully I didn’t have to see him and we didn’t have very many mutual friends but I am blushing just thinking about it!

HappyAsASandboy · 19/01/2023 19:17

That is pretty embarrassing. I did similar last night though - Facebook stalking an ex and I managed to "Like" a recent post that his wife posted Blush

I noticed pretty quickly and unliked it, but I have no idea whether they will know what I did Blush
