To be so embarrassed?

Was facebook stalking a new male colleague. No reason really, just wanted to find out more about him.
Not sure how on earth I managed it but I ended up sharing his profile photo on my own page. Been up for at least an hour and sure people from work have seen.
Literally dying of embarrassment

OP posts:
QueefQueen80s · 19/01/2023 19:59

This is the best thread in forever 😂😂

Climbles · 19/01/2023 19:59

Just friend request him. Make a joke about how terrible you are with tech and how when you tried to send him the friend request you ended up sharing the pic. Look at a new colleague’s public SM is hardly unusual.

Christmaspyjamas · 19/01/2023 19:07

Oh no that is embarrassing.

But in an hour probably that many people won't have seen it.

Could you share all your other colleagues profile pics too one at a time? It would still be odd but at least would be democratic.

I love this 😂 just ramp it up and share every colleagues photo one by one then a message saying ‘my lovely team.’ Then you’re the office weirdo but not a weirdo to one specific person.

Stop 🤣🤣 this thread is literally making me crease with laughter

Crybaby96 · 19/01/2023 20:03

Oh shit I didn't know that about LinkedIn. I'm cringing at the people who now know I have been stalking them and not in a business capacity at all 🙈

The colleague's address Sat nav story was amazing. I remember it well!

FlowersLucy · 19/01/2023 20:05

The linked in thing I found out through another thread like this - thank god for MN!

I literally have tears streaming down my face laughing

hatonacat · 19/01/2023 20:06

Op I have a huge house with a double garage and an attic in Scandinavia. It’s a bit cold at the moment, but you can come and stay with me if you like! I’ll turn off the wifi.

Pregnantandirrelevant · 19/01/2023 20:06

@FlowersLucy NOOOOOO

Tamarindtree · 19/01/2023 20:06

Start sharing other peoples profile photo at random times and then tomorrow announce you were hacked.

Emmamoo89 · 19/01/2023 20:07

You definitely have to leave the country 🤣🤣

Lilyyy · 19/01/2023 20:08

god this brought back memories of sheer panic.
This happened to me too. I was bored one night and was looking through a friend of a friend’s FB photos for no reason, and shared one of her photos from years ago to my page. I pretended my FB was hacked. She never said anything. The shame.

Wetblanket78 · 19/01/2023 20:09

Have you a baby or young toddler you could blame? We've all been there I accidentally sent my ex's, his ex before me a friend request. 🤣🤣🤣

This made me laugh

either do this or convince them you didn’t do it all- if they don’t talk about it to each other you might be able to convince them that they’re going a bit mad…

ReneBumsWombats · 19/01/2023 20:10

It's not as bad as the woman who accidentally got her phone to announce that it was now planning a route to the hot guy's address, as hot guy stood a few feet away.

@ToTheMax0

There was one a while ago by a poster who was working with a bloke she fancied when he took a phone call at work for an emergency plumber (or similar). He gave the plumber his home address unaware that the OP was sitting there with her ears flapping in the wind listening in.

She typed his home address into Google Maps or some such on her phone (as you do) to check out where he lived ...

... And then her phone's voice recognition software started reading aloud his address. Whilst he sat about two metres away from her.*

*I think that's the gist of the story. Can't find the post.

I remember that one, I believe she joined the Foreign Legion shortly afterwards, so it all worked out for the best.

butterpuffed · 19/01/2023 20:11

I was on a forum years ago and this man sent me a PM saying he liked me and could we meet up . I didn't fancy him at all and PM'd my friend to tell her that this man had been trying to chat me up and was creepy.

Instead of sending it to my friend I sent it to the man instead by mistake . Could have died on the spot !

I read a mumsnet post ages ago where a poster had been facebook stalking her ex, who had recently got married and had a baby. There was a picture on his profile of him, his wife, and their new infant daughter; and the poster somehow managed to tag herself as the baby.

hahahha omg this gave me a much needed laugh today

MullerCornerMorons · 19/01/2023 19:41

Christ alive @SomethingOriginal2 - guessing this ain’t your first rodeo

🤣🤣 did I take the assignment too seriously?

Nipsban · 19/01/2023 20:15

Actually just thinking op - just own it, we all stalk people. Own it, joke about it and laugh with them!

I definitely don’t do this and think anyone that does is very weird and obviously has nothing better to do in their lives.

Admitting you’re stalking the new colleague on SM is very weird and the replies would be much less light hearted if this was a middle aged male stalking a new younger female employee.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 19/01/2023 20:17

FlowersLucy · 19/01/2023 19:46

Crying at these posts 😂
We’ve all done similar OP.

I only recently realised that people with premium LinkedIn can still see if you have stalked them😭😭😭

Fuck off. Even if yours is set to off?!

EmilyGilmoresSass · 19/01/2023 20:20

DarkShade · 19/01/2023 19:34

Hahahaha that's fucking hilarious. Just imagine the horror you would feel upon realising!

I remember a thread on here last year where the OP overheard a new male colleague telling another colleague where he lived, and just out of idle curiosity typed the address into Google maps. Only her phone was set to navigation, and announced at top volume "starting journey to COLLEAGUE'S ADDRESS" or whatever, right across the room from that very colleague!

I remember that one. I was literally howling with laughter
