... the gift of schadenfreude that keeps on giving.

Don't know why I dislike her, I've only seen her speak for half a minute, but nonetheless I do

YANBU. I don't particularly like her even though there's no particular reason. I think it's a British thing, we generally like to see people get to the top through hard work, she just appeared from nowhere and won a big tennis tournament.

I think a lot of the people who say "YABU!" are probably hypocrites to some degree in that most people meet or see others who they instinctively like or dislike. Like nobody needed to tell me bad things about Piers Morgan for me to have a negative opinion of him.

You don’t think Emma has worked hard for years playing on the circuits? She just showed up and won a major tournament? Wow she’s good

!

In that full interview that, that title quote has been pulled from, she talked about how Gauff is an amazing player, a great opponent. Both were very nice about each other and the fact their both young and up and coming.
She's been injured, it's not unusual to talk in any sports about how that dappens your play, how you wish you could have rehabed longer, practiced longer etc etc it's common place in post match interviews of all sports.

How do you get to that conclusion?

Sport is irrelevant this post about schadenfreude.

At age 13 she was the youngest ever winner of an ITF under 18 tournament.

She reached the girls quarter finals of both Wimbledon and the US Open.

She has most definitely not come from nowhere.

Sport is irrelevant this post about schadenfreude.

Except it isn't irrelevant when your schadenfraude is aimed at a professional sportswoman… Play tennis is literally what she does all day, every day so it's impossible to claim that what she does with her life has no relevance. And you posted a headline which you think supports your point but you don't realise it does not because you don't understand professional sport.
