This is so alarming now - just how many children do we think are born in the wrong bodies?

Is this not now just science fiction?

YABU - Rainbows are magic

YANBU - It's brainwashing. No child is born in the wrong body and schools must be held to account.

The majority of women in the UK support trans rights

Seen as your here, I'll ask you a question no one has yet been able to answer despite years of us all asking.

What rights are you referring to?

Because trans people already have EXACTLY the same rights as everyone else of their sex class, with a few added protections under gender reassignment.

So what rights don't they have?
Which rights keep are the nasty feminists supposedly trying to take away?

What we want is for EXISTING laws and protections to be upheld.
You know, like those pesky female only spaces, services and sports, who are already legally allowed to be single SEX.
The trans lobby are trying to get the exemptions removed, which would actually be removing female legal protections. So who wants to remove who's rights?
Classic DARVO and emotional blackmail from TRA's

I honestly question the motives of anyone who thinks making all female spaces mixed sex is a good idea.

The right to self-identify. I have no problem with trans people in sports or single-sex spaces.

DevilinaCardigan · 18/01/2023 16:01

I may get deleted for this...

It's interesting to me that people who are gender critical are called Nazis, but we're the ones AGAINST sterilizing neurodivergent and gender nonconforming people.

Taking cross-sex hormones for any length of time will damage healthy reproductive organs. Usually, after about 4 years on testosterone, someone with a uterus will need a hysterectomy. I know taking estrogen will damage male reproductive organs, but I'm not sure the time scale that it takes. Of course, having surgery to remove reproductive organs will cause sterility and the ability to orgasm.

Verv · 18/01/2023 16:02

No, this ideology should not be taught in schools.

Humans cannot change sex.
You cannot be "born in the wrong body".
Discomfort at being a member of your own sex does not make you a member of the opposite sex.

As what?

What is Gender?

Why should Gender mean that my daughter has to compete against male bodied people in sport?

Why should Gender mean that women and girls should have to share spaces with male bodies?

Why should Gender mean that some children are encouraged to mutilate their bodies?

Nor I, if they are in the space or sports division appropriate to their sex and their cross-sex hormones don't break any competition rules.

I just asked my dd10 if someone can change from being a woman to a man and she said 'no because a woman has a uterus and a man has a penis. Its not scientifically possible'.

Very long intake a breath.

I really hope that this contagion ends soon and the next generation of (mostly) teenagers don't have to deal with all this confusion. I feel that as a parent I'm now more equipped than those before me with current teens to manage all this.

You don't think people should swear? Dear Lord. Am happy to tell a bigot to fuck off.

What is bigoted about not wanting kids sterilised and on strong untested drugs for the rest of their lives?

I genuinely don't care what adults do, as long as single sex spaces are retained. But everyone loses their minds and just screams 'Fuck off bigot' without actually talking like normal human beings about this.

It is pathetic.

congratulations, she has a lot more smarts than millions of adults. 👍

For under 18s the school should inform the parents/guardians what has been requested. Fine to go along with choice, but parents are the legal guardians and need to know. They're told of a playground cut or bruise, but not this?

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 16:18

I think the people so quick to level accusations of bigotry, really need to think about the meaning of that word and then think about who the bigots actually are.

Yes, it's curiously the most important thing in the world, so important that it is necessary to act immediately and also so trivial that it merits less consultation with home than a misplaced copy.

@HandScreen

"The right to self-identify. I have no problem with trans people in sports or single-sex spaces."

Trans people can do whatever sports they want to do. No one is making them stay at home.

Single sex spaces - now are you sure you want to open this particular changing room door? Because once we start posting examples of men who are appropriating gender identities in order to prey on the bodies of women and children it gets really inconvenient, really fast.

YABVU for posting here and not in the GC section and extra U for your wildly biased YABU = rainbows are magic. You blatantly don't think you are being U, you don't want to discuss or engage, you are not going to listen to anyone who disagrees with you, you just want to pontificate and those are always the most boring of AIBU posts.

"The right to self-identify. I have no problem with trans people in sports or single-sex spaces."

Nice for you.

You don't get to decide whether my teen daughter has to share bathrooms with 50 year old men with a sexual fetish for wearing women's clothing.

There's a word for people who think this is ok.

Out of interest, do you understand the argument is not 'banning' trans people from sport? Do you understand that no trans person is 'banned' from playing sport unless they are taking performance enhancing drugs? Which is testosterone for females, of course.

If you are fully supportive of males playing in the category based on sex that is what the female sports categories are, what other categories in sport are you happy for people to be able access when they are not eligible?

Age? Are you happy for a 25 year old to compete against under 12 year olds? What about that 25 year old competing against an 85 year old in the masters category? Happy with that?

Ability? Are you happy for someone who has no disability to compete in a category set up for a specific group with specific needs? Such as someone with full vision to compete in a group for visually impaired people? Happy with that?

What about for a person who is a professional in that sport to compete in the novice category for that sport? Happy with that?

What about a person who is not from a country or region to take the place of a person from that country or region? Happy with that?

What about allowing a cyclist with an electric engine to compete in the Tour de France? Happy with that?

What other categories do you want to get rid of ?

Because it is getting rid of the category set up for females to allow any male person to compete in that category. Just because that male is 'weakened' in some way doesn't mean they should be eligible to compete in a category that was set up to protect the competitive needs of females.

Should all weakened males get to compete in the female category?

Or is this just because some people have taken a special label for themselves. And because some sports have been referred to in the past as 'women's' categories rather than the 'female' category.

Why do you want to hide posts about child safeguarding in dark corners where minimal people will see them? 🤔

Who held a gun to your head and made you read it?

What are your thoughts on schools socially transitioning children and keeping it a secret from their parents?
Or did you just come here to whine about people finding out about this sort of stuff when it manages to escape from the naughty corner?

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 16:28

Attractive as they are, rainbows aren't magic.

RichardBarrister · 18/01/2023 16:28

In the recent census, there were equal numbers of trans men and trans women, which seems at odds with your assertation that 'adult transitioners are mostly male'.

In the recent census it didn’t show the age distribution. There are far more older male transitioners than female

Make some points then?
Why do you think it's ok to socially transition kids at school.
I'll listen.
But I will reply and it may not agree with you.
For a start you think this post should be hidden away. Why is that?

Yes

For anyone lurking, take a long look at this and see what kind of person is trying to advise your kids.

You have to pretend to believe people can change sex or your transphobic.

You can't tell your child they're perfect as they are or you're transphobic.

At this point, everything is transphobic and you'll never get it right without complete capitulation to the mob.

Keep an eye on who your kids are taking to, it could be a person like this that will try and turn them against you. The sort that would whisper in their ear that if your parents don't go along with what you want, they are a hateful bigot.

Helleofabore · 18/01/2023 16:33

IcakethereforeIam · 18/01/2023 16:18

I think the people so quick to level accusations of bigotry, really need to think about the meaning of that word and then think about who the bigots actually are.

Indeed cake. It is just like a poster recently who declared that males screaming slurs and abuse at women who are speaking words in a public space and sometimes those male go further and assault those women, often spitting is also involved these days, is practising 'democracy'. Or to deplatform them. Or to drown out their words so people cannot hear them.

When in reality it is totalitarian to attempt to silence someone you disagree with in this way. Democracy would be to debate and put forth points that show the errors and the faults in the arguments. And then let everyone make their own choices. Just because protesting is legal, using it to silence women's voices in this way does not make it 'democratic' as such. It just means it is not illegal.

And sometimes it is the posters who will try to shame others posting here with name calling and other tactics who declare themselves the most tolerant in society, are actually the most intolerant of all.

Because all they have is emotional manipulation.

All they have is the name calling and pointing that glorious finger of shame.
