To ask how often you go out for dinner

Interested to see what is standard

We are on average incomes and go out 3 or 4 times a month I’d say. More than we ever used to!

We don’t go anywhere fancy unless it’s a really special occasion, so no set menus and usually just a main course occasionally a starter. We stick to Pizza Express, Wagamama, Nando’s, pub restaurants etc as we like these places and often find there’s a blue light deal to be had or can use Clubcard vouchers etc.

We went for a meal on Sunday evening and the waiter commented that it’s the busiest Sunday they have had since eat out to help out, and that this January is seeing much more trade than in other years which is strange given the cost of living crisis.

Rarely 3 times a year probably. We tend to spend more on favourite foods and meals we can cook at home at the weekend posher pizzas, joints of meat, nice puddings and then make a point of having family dinner

For the price of an average restaurant meal for two you can buy the most luxurious delicacies at M&S.....! And a great bottle of wine. It's just such bad value for money!

The exception would be a specialty restaurant cooking something amazing that I couldn't do at home. Or when abroad

We eat out for dinner very rarely, once a year if that. Lunch we'll do about 6 times a year. Finances aren't an issue, but we don't have reliable childcare and don't like to disrupt bedtime routines. And we'd rather take the dc somewhere to play than have them sit for ages eating a lunch (usually do a picnic lunch on days out).

It probably evens out at about once a month. We do it for birthdays and anniversaries and get togethers with family and friends. We have older teenagers and it's one of the few things they still like doing with us. Picking up and dropping off at uni usually involves a lunch out too. It's expensive but I've noticed still busy out there. Tried to book a restaurant in our town for my son's birthday on a week night in November and it was fully booked over a week beforehand. Had Sunday lunch out last week in a very bustling city centre pub.
