Can't get any job

I'm so upset with everything please go easy on me.
My dp has been in the county 12 years with no work permission and has recently obtained his leave to remain so now as the right to work we have been together 6 years and I have been struggling along to support us both and I have also been using a inheritance to get by as well but now money has run out and we have nothing. I'm not in the best health either and we dont have enough money to cover house expenses currently we haven't a penny until the 30th of this month when I get paid low income by the way.
Since dp got his right to work he has applied for job after job only to suffer rejection after rejection this is most likely due to no work trail here in the uk so massive gap in cv which is impossible to produce. He didn't really have any skill back in his home country either. He can't get references nothing so we are stuck.
We are both in deep depression with no money I have left messages with training providers and nobody ever responds and we don't have money to pay for training he has signed on with agencies and they are not forthcoming with anything I'm not sure what to do but has anybody got any suggestions because we are heading into poverty.

He could apply for some volunteering roles to get something on his CV and UK references.

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:40

I did think about that bib

Has he looked at temping in office jobs?
Do you have any options to earn more in your current job or can you apply for some others?

Nevermind31 · 17/01/2023 09:42

What has he been doing the past 12 years?
what did he live off before he met you?
what kind of roles is he going for?

GotAnyGrapez · 17/01/2023 09:43

What did he live off before he met you? Has he not done any volunteering in the past 12 years? What has he been doing?

ilovepuppies2019 · 17/01/2023 09:44

What did he do previously? Can be work as an uber driver, take Air tasker roles or sign up for casuao caring (like Mable) to get by. In the meantime I would look at volunteering to build up some connections and sign on with a job agency. Is there any free training that he can do?

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:44

Nevermind he was on asylum support and he has been applying for no experience training provided roles.

He doesn't drive as he wasn't able to apply for a license. He has his provisional now and is practicing his theory.

How is his English? Sorry, don't want to sound rude by asking, but could his CV or written English be improved for applications? Does he get to interview stage or not that far? There are many factory/care roles that are desperate so if he is not getting interviews I would look at the application he is sending and try to improve there.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/01/2023 09:46

What about hospitality? It's not always the best sector to work in, but with so many of them crying out for staff I'd have thought there'd be something?

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:46

I can't really increase my hours as I have some health issues I'm also getting on

His spoken English is good but he is very slow with writing.

Aposterhasnoname · 17/01/2023 09:48

Where about safe to OP?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/01/2023 09:48

Is he in the same age bracket as yourself, OP?

GiltEdges · 17/01/2023 09:48

As PP suggested, volunteering opportunities are probably his best bet to get some experience/work skills and a reference before applying again for paid roles.

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:48

He has managed one interview so far but not heard back.

Aposterhasnoname · 17/01/2023 09:49

Where abouts are you, that should say

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:49

Puzzledandpissedoff he is 6 years younger than me

Does he have any basic qualifications, from his home country or UK? He may be eligible for maths and English level 2 if not and could apply for apprenticeships?

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:50

We are west midlands

OP posts:
Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:50

No qualifications at all

Shivermytimber · 17/01/2023 09:51

What kind of jobs is he applying for?
It might be best to just apply for everything at this stage even if it’s not his cup of tea as always easier to find another job when you are already in employment.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/01/2023 09:52

Okay, so as mentioned what about hospitality jobs?

Desperatetime · 17/01/2023 09:52

He started work in a sewing factory from age 14 in his home country he doesn't even have any grades from school and sometimes it's an impossible task filling in application forms.
