Mine is set that it comes on if it drops below 13.

What's yours set at?

15

OttilieKnackered · 16/01/2023 21:29

14 overnight so it never comes on.

18 from 6:30-8 and then 6-10. But I keep meaning to change it to 6-9. I work from home a lot and that’s enough that it doesn’t get too chilly during the day, although I wear a dressing gown outside of meeting times!

We live in a leaky but terraced Edwardian house.

bluesky45 · 16/01/2023 21:29

Our heating is off entirely from 7pm until 11:30am earliest. It gets down to 14ish if it's really cold. In the really cold spell in December it got down to 11 degrees in the mornings. I did put it on earlier then though!

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 16/01/2023 21:29

Off overnight from 9pm til 7:30am unless it’s well below freezing

Happygirl79 · 16/01/2023 21:29

Nimbostratus100 · 16/01/2023 21:15

ours is set at "frost" overnight, so it would come on if there was a danger of pipes freezing

Same here. Government recommends minimum 18° as I am 70 years old but I cannot afford that as on a limited income and live alone

Intransigentcat · 16/01/2023 21:29

Off overnight, I would be really restless in a hot room and wake up with a headache and groggy.

It does come on for half an hour in the morning though so it's warm to get dressed for work.

kitcat15 · 16/01/2023 21:30

Never ever on overnight ……we haven’t had the heating on for the last week ….as in radiators…..just the log burner in family room ( we get free wood)…..but it’s currently snowing outside so it may well go on tomorrow evening

whoruntheworldgirls · 16/01/2023 21:32

It'll kick in if it gets to 15. Kitchen under floor heating will kick in if it gets to 16.

saleorbouy · 16/01/2023 21:32

No central heating, the stove gets a few scoops of fuel and hot water bottles and a blanket over the duvet are sufficient to stay snug.
Personally as long as I'm cosy in bed I'm not bothered about the room temp. I hate hot bedrooms.

Bowbellsx · 16/01/2023 21:22

Off through the night I’m not lord sugar 😂

How much do you think it actually costs?

specialk9 · 16/01/2023 21:33

Ours is set to 18 but it never comes on. Luckily we have a warm house , mid terrace new build.

crosspusscrossstitcher · 16/01/2023 21:34

18 overnight, 20 during the day.

Boiler less than a year old and our DD has dropped, British Gas are giving us a refund too!🤯

Mum2jenny · 16/01/2023 21:35

Off overnight

Fleabigg · 16/01/2023 21:37

I think the thermostat is 10 but it never gets that low so doesn’t come on. Nothing worse than sleeping with the heating on, so uncomfortable.

saveforthat · 16/01/2023 21:37

Hollyhead · 16/01/2023 21:11

@saveforthat give it a go - I was sceptical until I tried it! It’s like sleeping in a cloud.

I've always slept naked so I definitely won't be wearing a jumper. A duvet is fine for me thanks.

diamondpony80 · 16/01/2023 21:39

We never have heating on at night. Even on the coldest nights where it’s been -5 outside the indoor temperature hasn’t dropped below 14.

QuietYou · 16/01/2023 21:41

I think the UFH downstairs has a frost setting but it's never come on. Apart from that it's off at night and we have the windows open upstairs all year round unless it's really windy. DS1 has turned the radiator completely off in his room.

Whynowwhynow · 16/01/2023 21:42

Off. Doesn’t matter how cold it gets the heating is switched off.

MaryShelley1818 · 16/01/2023 21:42

15 degrees but very rarely gets below there.

defi · 16/01/2023 21:42

Off have a heat pad in bed if it gets cold.

Hunkydory99 · 16/01/2023 21:49

16 upstairs and 14 downstairs. Any colder it takes the house and boiler hours to warm it up again, likely costing a lot more in gas.

Hankunamatata · 16/01/2023 21:51

Don't have the heating on overnight. Usually goes off about 11/12 then bakc on around 8 ish. We turn it on when get up as it makes noise when first comes on and wakes me up.

Purpleavocado · 16/01/2023 21:52

Ours is off at night, the sound of the boiler wakes me up

Pootle40 · 16/01/2023 21:53

Not on at all. When we had the cold spell mid December where we live got down to -10c at night and the lowest Hive recorded before the heating kicked in was 14.5c when the 19c heating went off the night before at 930pm.

LovePoppy · 16/01/2023 21:55

18/19 over night, 22 during the day. It costs so much more to get the house up to temp if you're constantly turning it off and on.

I also refuse to be cold.
