Mine is set that it comes on if it drops below 13.

What's yours set at?

Who are you to decide who needs heating on or not?!

It wouldn't be lovely for me to wear a jumper in bed, I would hate it. My thermostat is set at 17 overnight.

DeathMetalMum · 16/01/2023 21:07

Ours is switched off. We used to turn it down to 15 overnight but it would always click on when v cold. We got extra blankets for dc and a bedspread for our bed and we're toasty. Downstairs it drops to 10c overnight - well did on the recent cold snap.

WeWereInParis · 16/01/2023 21:07

Usually just off but this winter because we have DD2 (8 months) in a sleeping bag we have it on a bit more. Once she's old enough to be snuggled under a duvet we'll go back to having it off.

Devilou666 · 16/01/2023 21:08

16 but 2 of the 3 bedrooms has radiators off as it affects our chests.

ThePoshUns · 16/01/2023 21:08

Mine is off overnight

Hollyhead · 16/01/2023 21:09

@WaddleAway sorry like I said to someone else, my phone was badly phrased and too curt. I do recognise there are other reasons. I was hoping to give people confidence in not having it on to save a few ££ seeing as it’s not something I’ve ever done with no untoward effects.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/01/2023 21:09

Hollyhead · 16/01/2023 21:05

Ok, it was badly phrased @Hungrycaterpillarsmummy but I would consider a waste of money for a significant number of people to have heating coming on in the middle of the night. It’s not something that I’ve ever done or experienced!

If the house is below 18 degree I wake up with a runny nose and sore throat!
Our house just feels cold! Eduardian and loses a lot of heat

Curlygirl06 · 16/01/2023 21:09

Not on at all overnight here, turned off at 6.40pm when we've had our shower/ bath. Very rarely put on in the morning, might manually put it on if very cold for an hour.

fedupneighbours · 16/01/2023 21:09

From 7pm when DD goes to bed it drops to 5, it's never clicked on yet even when it was -10 the other week. We all have thick duvets, extra blankets if cold etc so I wouldn't put the heating on overnight generally.

spicylasagne · 16/01/2023 21:10

15 overnight.
I wake up if I’m too cold in the night, for no other reason than too cold. We do keep the house at 16-18 in the day too so don’t have it too warm, just don’t like to be chilly at night either when trying to get rest.

Hollyhead · 16/01/2023 21:11

@saveforthat give it a go - I was sceptical until I tried it! It’s like sleeping in a cloud.

watchfulwishes · 16/01/2023 21:11

Unless you have respiratory issues no one needs heating on overnight

This is not correct, being cold affects health for many people, especially the young and the old.

NewBootsAndRanty · 16/01/2023 21:11

18 overnight (I have COPD).

ColdHandsHotHead · 16/01/2023 21:12

Mine is at 16 all the time. It's fine.

Zanatdy · 16/01/2023 21:12

Off altogether from 7.45pm until 5am

WhereIsMumHiding3 · 16/01/2023 21:12

My heating is off over night and only on for 1-2 hours morning and teatime during the day. I can't imagine having heating in overnight...!

My house can easily get down to 6'C in the early hours when its freezing out
We have quilts and lots of blankets
It's an old house and we never had heating on overnight even when heating wasn't expensive before current COL and cost of gas crisis

Funnily enough I find most houses too stuffy and with little air GrinGrin

Snarf23 · 16/01/2023 21:13

12 so it never comes on. Although It did when it was minus 9 last month. Briefly. We are under duvets and asleep no need for heating.

We only heat to 17 ish a handful of hours a day anyway.

Hollyhead · 16/01/2023 21:13

Yeah and @watchfulwishes I’ve already apologised 2 times for my initial short tone.

SuchALiability · 16/01/2023 21:14

7 degrees

SchoolQuestionnaire · 16/01/2023 21:14

Our heating is set to 18 overnight in winter and I wouldn’t go any lower until it warms up. I hate being cold and really don’t understand this competitive under heating.

YukoandHiro · 16/01/2023 21:14

14 overnight which is about 16 in the bedrooms (thermostat is in the hall and it gets cool downstairs). I wouldn't have it on at all if it was just me but my daughter has asthma and being cold at night can set her off.

Nimbostratus100 · 16/01/2023 21:15

ours is set at "frost" overnight, so it would come on if there was a danger of pipes freezing

StillWantingADog · 16/01/2023 21:15

Off overnight from 10.30 until 6am
except when it is very very cold (as it was on early December) when we kept it on all night but set the thermostat to 12ish, not that we needed it but so that the whole system didn’t freeze over!

Passmeaplacard · 16/01/2023 21:15

19/20 but only because I have a toddler who doesn’t sleep well and is still in sleep sacks rather than a duvet
we wouldn’t have it on at night for just adults but it’s a new build. Used to have an electric blanket in an older property

Pixiedust1234 · 16/01/2023 21:16

AuntieMarys · 16/01/2023 21:04

Never on at night. Goes off 7.30pm and I put it on about 3-4pm

Same here. Only in exception circumstances will the heating go on during the day and never ever on at night.
