9 South east. So it has never come on obviously - it never drops below about 15 over night inside.

Rebel2023 · 27/01/2023 05:36

@MimiandFifi people on min wage are definitely struggling
I don't drink, eat out (have the odd takeaway coffee), go on holiday etc
Live alone and take home maybe £1400pm. I simply can't afford to have it on all the time because there's nothing to cut back on
Everything has gone up except my wage!
Mortgage, council tax, gas/electric, water, food, insurance and there isn't a lot left after that. I'm dreading when the energy rebate ends

lovemytribe · 27/01/2023 05:50

7 overnight so never comes on

CassandraColbyColshaw · 27/01/2023 05:59

Never have it on overnight under duvets, comes on for an hour in the morning

SophieJo · 27/01/2023 06:01

Have never had it on overnight.

Ginmonkeyagain · 27/01/2023 07:20

@MimiandFifi unless.you have health issues 22 degrees all the time inside seems insanely hot to me. Are you sitting around in 22 degree heat inside in wool jumpers? Or under winter weight duvets?

That would be insanely hot.

Even before energy costs rose we operated a suitable clothes for the weather first policy because wasting finite energy is pretty wrong IMO

Thatladdo · 27/01/2023 07:22

22.5 Degrees, 24 Hours a day.

Looking at others, im concerned i may be a lizard.

Ginmonkeyagain · 27/01/2023 07:29

Definitely a lizard!. I am eating breakfast here in cottonn tights, vest, corduroy shirt dress and the thermostat is currently showing 16 degrees (heating has just came on). I am perfectly comfortable.

I am going in to work though. If I was staying at home I would probably be wearing a thermal under layer (Uniqlo heat tech top) and a wool or cashmere jumper.

Snowpaw · 27/01/2023 07:30

The only time I remember keeping the heating on overnight was when Beast from the East hit. And I woke up feeling like my throat was raw and I had a really fretful nights sleep. I always turn it off overnight, and usually at least an hour before I go to bed to let the home cool down a bit, ready for sleep. I really struggle to fall asleep in a warm room. I wear warm Pjs, thick feather duvet and an extra blanket or two on top / socks on really cold nights and that's fine.

Lcb123 · 27/01/2023 07:30

Always off

It's finite.

Ginmonkeyagain · 27/01/2023 08:38

@MimiandFifi You won't wear a jumper inside in the winter and instead have the heating on 24/7 to the level of a mild summer day?

Good grief, no wonder the climate is fucked.

Totally agree.

I haven't put my heating on at all. Flat is 9-12 degrees. DS and I are happy in our Oodies and we're not spending hundreds on electricity.

Ginmonkeyagain · 27/01/2023 08:41

Posts like that are making me understand why some people have such huge energy bills.

Chanel05 · 27/01/2023 09:10

Mine is set to click on at 17 overnight. I have a newborn in the house and I don't want it too chilly.

Cleethorpes · 27/01/2023 09:24

Mine is on all day and night, set to 16 degrees. It works for us.

xogossipgirlxo · 27/01/2023 09:40

18 degrees. I could not go lower than this 😬In current weather it comes on maybe for an hour around 6AM, so at least towels aren't damp which I hate.

Ginmonkeyagain · 27/01/2023 09:46

Yeah we heat to 18 degrees morning and evening. We used to do 20 degrees but I cut it back due to energy prices at the mment. It doesn't seem to be that different tbh.

I wear a sweater or an oodie, cozy pants and often a blanket on the couch. my bed is covered in blankets. The heat is still set to 19 or 20 at night and 20-22 during the day.

Some of us are just colder. Im also in Canada. Its currently a high of -10 today. It takes forever for the heat to get to temp if we have a power outage and it turns off. Much better ot just leave it on all the time.

megletthesecond · 27/01/2023 14:14

I've just remembered when I had a newborn in the winter and a lower bedroom temperature for them, my lips went blue. My body can't cope with being still in cold air even if it's wrapped up.
