The newspapers are reporting that she has been rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive at home and having suffered a possible heart attack.

This makes me feel so sad. She has had a tough life with the suicide of her son a few years ago!

I remember when her father died. How tragic for her mother and daughters, especially coming only two years after Ben died. Awful, awful news.

I read somewhere this morning that several members of the family, including Elvis, have died young of heart attacks and there may me a weakness due to inbreeding a few generations ago.

She is now. Such a shame and too young.

She definitely wasn’t at that time though, and I thought it was very off to assume that.

I agree, so young. But in a way, the pressure of being Elvis Presleys daughter is never going to be good for anyone. Such a tragic life with so many heartbreaks, so much money, such a shame. And now her twin daughters have the awful loss of a parent during childhood just like she did. I hope they can have some stability with their father.

I was shocked to read the news in the early hours and really hoped she would recover. It’s a tragedy for her mum, children and all her family & friends. She seemed a pleasant woman who was clearly heartbroken by the death of her son.
I hope Lisa Marie is at peace now with her beloved dad & her beloved Ben, and hope that her family find strength together.

Here is a link to an essay written by Lisa Marie Presley for National Grief Awareness Day a few months before she died. It is definitely worth reading for those of us experiencing grief, wanting to support those grieving or perhaps struggling to understand those like Prince Harry who lost someone long ago but are still very obviously grieving for them:

This was my first thought too but surely she would have had tests for genetic diseases?

Quite possibly but not sure theres much they can do about it if its a genetic issue with the heart muscle, short of a heart transplant. Plus, she has been in rehab several times so they may not have been able to treat it if she was struggling to stop taking substances. Elvis also had other inherited health issues which affected his lungs, liver and colon so it was multi system failure by the sounds of it. Elvis' mother, and all her brothers all died young from cardiac failure so its highly likely this was genetic (compounded by grief etc).

She looked absolutely dreadful on Tuesday at the GG, so poorly. I was shocked when I saw the pictures and couldn’t tell which one was the mother and which the daughter. Poor woman. RIP.

7eleven · 13/01/2023 16:17

Clearly, this was an unwell woman. Poor lady.

A heart attack is mostly what leads to cardiac arrest. She’ll almost certainly have had a heart attack. Believe me, it’s quick when it all happens.

TheVanguardSix · 13/01/2023 16:52

Sorry, I meant to reply to a quote from another poster regarding cardiac arrest not always being caused by heart attacks.

THIS!

SADS isn't a new thing. It's happened for years. You just don't bother to clearly research into things.

Yes, it can happen with epilepsy and asthma. Scary thought.

Viviennemary · 13/01/2023 18:13

I only just heard this on the news. What a shock. I did hear she had a heart scare but thought she would recover. How awful for her mother. Didnt know about her son either. What a tragedy.
