To Feel Sad About Lisa Marie Presley?

JustForABitofFun · 13/01/2023 00:48

The newspapers are reporting that she has been rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive at home and having suffered a possible heart attack.

This makes me feel so sad. She has had a tough life with the suicide of her son a few years ago!

I don’t know much about her tbh, other than she’s the daughter of Elvis. One thing I do know though, is that money doesn’t make people happy. It’s quite sad how many people think that people with money shouldn’t ever be depressed. Most of us live our lives thinking that once we have more money, that career, that house, that car etc etc we will be more happy. Imagine having all that and more and finding you still feel unfulfilled. Where do you go next?

This. Absolutely this.
Lisa marie, PH, the Monaco kids, me ...
We ALL lost parents very young & it has affected us hugely.
Are they are 'privileged' compared to me - yes, VERY.
But we all share that grief which can affect a whole life & £ cannot heal that.
Very sad for her daughter, who lost her brother to suicide & now her mother too.

It never surprised me that she and MJ. were...choosing my words carefully... friends. They were probably the only people who understood the other, who understood what it was to have as far from a normal childhood as its possible to get.

There is a reason that many "child stars" dont make it to full adulthood and those that do are FUBAR.

She never stood a chance.

Bit more than friends - they were married. She persuaded him to settle with his victims out of court. Sorry for her death - she leaves three daughters behind. She made some very questionable life choices and had some terrible things happen to her. 54 is too young to die.

What a nasty post.

If you had experienced suicide in your family you would know that you never get over it.

Some people are so thick. They don't have the imagination to realise that money isn't the only thing that helps you in life and having money doesn't necessarily protect you from life's tragedies or problems.

Either that or they're just nasty as you say!

Turmerictolly · 13/01/2023 10:41

Very sad, she looked really unwell at the Golden Globes

Snowglobules · 13/01/2023 10:45

I think there are genetic issues in the Presley family. His mother died in her 40s from heart issues and her three brothers also died in their 40s as did Elvis and now Lisa Marie. His maternal grandparents were first cousins apparently, which isn’t uncommon especially back then but in some cases may hand compounded the risk of rare genetic disorders. There is a book about the family that goes into this even suggesting the substance abuse that goes back to Elvis’s mother may have been triggered by long term pain and health issues as an attempt to self medicate for poor health not understood at the time. It’s absolutely tragic and I hope all of Lisa’s remaining children get themselves top tier medical care.

God it’s so sad. The loss of her son was a killer. I can’t help but believe that you can truly die from a broken heart.
My ears perk up when I hear cardiac arrest because I collapsed and went into cardiac arrest two and a half plus years ago. I’d been feeling properly faint and dodgy for about two months beforehand. A couple of months before my cardiac arrest, I was at a NYE party and fainted after feeling terrible most of the night. I wasn’t well. I’m sure everyone assumed I was drunk or on something but I’ve never been a drinker, hadn’t been drinking at all that night, and in fact, I’ve have been teetotal for years (ironically because I knew I had long QTs and arrhythmia which alcohol worsened. Didn’t really touch drugs apart from mary J in my 20s. I’m 50 now). Anyway, I am turning this into SUCH a me thing but I was so so so sad to read that Lisa P didn’t pull through. And I wondered if she’d been symptomatic over a period of time and then finally, it all came down on her at once. In my case, my artery was weakening and the day it finally tore was the day I collapsed. Menopausal women are at risk of SCAD heart attacks. Please be informed! It’s definitely related to hormonal shifts and stress. RIP Lisa Marie. 😥

TheVanguardSix · 13/01/2023 10:58

“It’s definitely related to hormonal shifts and stress”- let me clarify this: SCAD heart attacks are definitely related to this, not Lisa Marie’s heart attack (though I wonder if she experienced something similar to a SCAD).

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 13/01/2023 11:07

Very sad to hear. I'm sure I read a few years ago that when she lived in a village in the UK she was a regular in the local pub and she was absolutely lovely.

So awful for her family, 54 is so young.

My sympathies to.her family and loved ones. As someone who.lost a parent young and is being battered by bereavement due to the suicide of a much loved partner I can honestly.say it is a solute torture and I can have my privacy. Poor thing.

@BCBird
My heartfelt sympathy 💐💐

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 11:10

@TheVanguardSix Yeh, I understand that she may have had the gene for SCAD but I agree with you. After a certain age, not having an enthusiasm to live healthily and not being optimistic about the future, or still being mired in grief, that gets in the way of the determination to stay checked in with doctors, to interpret the advice and act on it. So it can be both imo, the genetic thing and the decades of overcoming one tragedy after another.

Another victim of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome? I'm sure it's just a coincidence - because everything is, these days.

You don’t think it’s more likely to be a combination of utter heartbreak from the loss of her son and 14 years of drug addiction that 5 rehab stints couldn’t cure? No, of course it was the Covid jab 🙄

The poor woman deserves better than to be treated as fodder for your conspiracy theories.

hamstersarse · 13/01/2023 11:16

It is horrendously sad.

It really brings up a rl situation for me. I have a friend who lost her son to suicide and I worry daily that she will literally just die from the overwhelming, all-consuming, relentless grief she has to carry.

Pottyaboutplants · 13/01/2023 02:23

She spoke about her drug addiction in the past and how she overcame it. Cocaine after the age of 50 is a killer.

At the Golden Globes this week she struggled a bit.

How do you think she was struggling at the Golden Globes? I’ve seen nothing but footage of her looking fit and well - she was also at Elvis’s birthday celebration with her daughter, Austin B and Baz L and I thought she looked well and happy. I haven’t read anything other than she was well - have I missed something?

I saw a clip online. She seemed disorientated. The voiceover of the clip said ‘she was struggling at the GG earlier this week’.

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 11:24

Her speech didn't seem incoherent to me, maybe it was just her high heels that had her grab that man's arm.

thewinterwitch · 13/01/2023 11:26

She was grey faced, and unsteady on her feet, needed to hold her colleague's arm for support at one point, and seemed to my eyes to be both ill and on pills.

I would say losing your mum as a child is very very hard. Probably the worst thing anyone can experience, except the loss of a child. Changes you irrevocably. So I think maybe Harry and Lisa Marie have both had very hard lives. Money doesn't make the pain of these things any less.

She didn’t lose her Mum, her Mum is still alive.

I haven’t seen this - so terribly sad. What flashed through my mind when I heard the news of her death is that the Presley Family seem to have a similar line of tragic events as The Kennedys. So sad to see so many young and tragic deaths blight a single family. I can’t imagine Priscilla’s pain.

Spidey66 · 13/01/2023 11:35

The reports suggest a cardiac arrest, not a heart attack. They're not the same thing. A cardiac arrest is when the heart stops. A heart attack is when there's a blockage to the heart.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/01/2023 11:36

She has young twin daughters doesn’t she ? About 13 ? How utterly tragic for them even more so after losing their brother too. What a huge weight of grief for children.

Agreed. It’s sad how many people think money is the be all and end all. They’d probably sell their own grandmothers if the price was right.

Are they nasty or just thick? Both I think.

xogossipgirlxo · 13/01/2023 11:43

I didn't even know Elvis Presley had a daughter 🤐

Swissmountains · 13/01/2023 12:05

I hope she is now at peace, and I send my prayers to her family.

Swissmountains · 13/01/2023 12:06

There are lots of reasons why younger people have cardiac arrests, it is probably best not to speculate. The loss of a child can be unbearable.
