To Feel Sad About Lisa Marie Presley?

JustForABitofFun · 13/01/2023 00:48

The newspapers are reporting that she has been rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive at home and having suffered a possible heart attack.

This makes me feel so sad. She has had a tough life with the suicide of her son a few years ago!

THIS!

What’s this Sudden Adult Death Syndrome?!

I agree with you, horrible to read.

The moderation on this site leaves a lot to be desired imo.

Agree wholeheartedly with both

The fact that some people think AIBU has become a byword for downright horrible behaviour is exactly the problem @Coffeecreme

DeFacto · 13/01/2023 09:07

I think the posters referencing 'Sudden adult death syndrome' are erroneously connecting it to vaccinations. Lisa Marie Presley had a well-publicised struggle with addiction, that was no doubt exacerbated by the recent death of her son, so stop with your anti-vax craziness.

Thighlengthboots · 13/01/2023 09:08

Elvis had a strong mutation on chromosome 11 which causes hypertophic cardiomyopathy - a heart muscle disease. His own mother died at age 46. They now think even if Elvis had not touched drugs he would likely have passed in his 40s. I suspect Lisa may have inherited this weakness. Very sad.

MavisCruet2023 · 13/01/2023 09:08

She was the epitome of poor little rich girl.
I feel sorry for her and all her family.
She seemed a bit out of it at the Golden Globes and she did not look well.
54 is no age.

THIS!

SADS isn't a new thing. It's happened for years. You just don't bother to clearly research into things.

Badger1970 · 13/01/2023 09:12

I feel sorry for kids born to famous parents. Most end up with unfulfilling lifes and serious addictions - like Lisa Marie.

Her poor Mum, she's had a hard life.

Thighlengthboots · 13/01/2023 09:13

SADS is a thing but usually the cause is unknown/unspecified. They said Lisa had a cardiac arrest which makes sense considering both her father and paternal grandmother died of heart problems in their 40s.

containsnuts · 13/01/2023 09:18

It's sad that the pressures and privileges of fame have lead to the untimely deaths of 3 members of the same family. It must have been quite a burden for her always having to be Elvis's daughter and never herself. Perhapse the film and all that involved was just too much for her especially around the time of her son's death. It must have raised some deep issues for her and her family. I can't imagine the emotional torment then having put on a smile and entertain the world.

GyozaGuiting · 13/01/2023 09:21

It's sad she's died, she has had such a tumultuous life.

She has openly talked about drug struggles, including cocaine, which is terrible for the heart. I think her drug taking got worse when she was with Michael.

Spidey66 · 13/01/2023 09:26

I do feel sad for her, especially after her son's death. (He looked so much like Elvis.)

If she had an underlying heart condition, her addiction issues wouldn't have helped. Cocaine in particular can cause cardiac problems.

RIP Lisa Marie Presley.

This was my first thought too but surely she would have had tests for genetic diseases?

And her lifestyle

I think the SADS reference is the theory that covid vaccines are killing lots of people.

I've felt sorry for her for years, watching her grow up in the shadow of her late father. As Elvis' only child every decision and/or mistake she made growing up was fodder for the US tabs with 'What would Elvis think' or 'Elvis' daughter does this or that'. "The little girl who had everything" had everything except peace and privacy.

RIP Lisa

Exactly, the little girl who had the world on her shoulder looking at her.

RIP Lisa Marie

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 13/01/2023 09:32

This was my first thought too but surely she would have had tests for genetic diseases?

Who said she didn't? She could well have had the tests and been aware of the results, even if the news wasn't good. She would have been unlikely to tell the world!

Aphrathestorm · 13/01/2023 09:52

I'm sure she would have been tested for any heart problems.

She probably shouldn't have been left alone. I wonder if they kept a defibrillator at home?

I'd never heard of her until she married MJ. That was such a huge news story.

But it made me think she was complicit in covering up for him. The marriage was clearly a sham to resurrect his image. It's hard to respect someone who does that.

But she did have an awfully sad and tragic life. I wouldn't swap.

Her son shooting himself is the worst possible thing for a mother to experience. Since she previously had addiction difficulties this could well have triggered a relapse. 50+ add coke and trauma and a heart condition, it's only a matter of time.

lljkk · 13/01/2023 03:02

I feel sad reading about suicide of her son. That is heart-breaking.
LMP... she had a full life. Cut short, terrible for her loved ones, but not a tragic loss imho.

Sometimes it's best to keep those worst thoughts in your head rather than type them out.

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 09:53

It is very sad, and shocking to anybody who is only a couple of years younger. For years we all get used to celebrities dying and thinking ''oh way too young'' but the age gap is still wide enough for us to to think nothing to do with me really.

Lisa Marie had been under a lot of pressure from the scientologists. First of all to persuade ''Jane Doe 1'' not to go to the police and when the first trial was deadlocked and there was a retrial scheduled. Lisa Marie apparently regretted having dissuaded Jane Doe 1 from going to the police initially and so Scientologists were putting a lot of pressure on her currently.

JustForABitofFun · 13/01/2023 01:52

I would have thought that losing your dad as a child and then your son to suicide is tough.

In my mind money doesn't make up for any of that.

However, if you feel that's not tough, then we just have to agree to disagree!

I suppose because my DH died when mine were 8 and 10 , while it's a massive loss, it doesn't equate a hard life, necessarily. Her Son had spoken about how her running off and marrying Michael Jackson without warning and later Scientology (inflicted by her) messed him up. Watching her addiction couldn't have been easy. It's lives like their's which make me not envy wealth. Addiction and mental illness is sad, especially when those who have them could achieve exceptional things.

TheProblemIsMe · 13/01/2023 10:07

You can't fight what's written into your genes though @PenelopeTitsDrop3121, no matter how much money you have.

Rip.

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 10:09

Oh no, just seen the video of her grabbing somebody's arm for support at the GGs on Tuesday. That does indicate that she wasn't in the fullness of health.

gettingthere17 · 13/01/2023 10:29

She had a massive drug problem that rules her life even having children didn't stop her from taking them - it's sad for her mother and children but she was a very selfish woman

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 10:31

well, that would suggest that it's easy to stop taking drugs. I think she had trauma for sure. A lot of it.

Velvetween · 13/01/2023 10:33

XelaM · 13/01/2023 01:37

This.

Sole as the sole heiress to Elvis Presley's estate, she's had about as tough a life as Prince Harry... 🤨

There is a degree of sympathy to be had though for some kids born into hugely wealthy families and especially those with the added legacy of someone very famous. They are often raised by staff/sycophants and grow up without boundaries and in very dysfunctional environments, and the money gives them access to as much of the bad as the good stuff.
