To think most people have *not* tried cocaine?

On another thread, a poster states that 'most people have at least tried cocaine'.

I haven't, and family haven't. However, on threads about drugs there always seems to be a clear divide - either people haven't taken them, or everyone they know has.

So, for a very unscientific survey:

YABU - I have tried cocaine
YANBU - I have not tried cocaine

No but I’ve never tried weed either. Neither has dh. Some friends have tried weed but I don’t know many who admit cocaine - best friend’s abusive ex husband did so not a great advert.

I haven't. Briefly dated a small-time dealer and his mates nicknamed me "straight-head", he snorted lines off my Disney kids mirror I'd taken to uniConfused all my mates are straight-heads too apart from the odd reprobate I let through, ha.
When I used to go clubbing the lads on coke were aggro af.

Pretty normal to have tried it in my experience, a few I know still use recreationally

I used to do it a lot in my late 20s, but I did love a party back then. A lot of my friends used to as well. Now, I don’t even drink and prefer a quiet lifestyle. I also don’t keep in touch with these party friends.

I know loads of people who do it recreationally.

I can't afford to.

But I used to pre kids.
It was enjoyable.

I have, many of my friends have though I'd say my city friends are more likely to have tried it over my friends from school / home village

I always wanted to try LSD but never came across it. Am still curious about hallucinogens, but wouldn't have a clue where to get it and now that I'm older, am far too worried I'd die or be trapped in a kaleidoscope universe forever 😅

I've never tried it despite trying many other drugs (and all of my friends trying it)... I do think more people than you expect have tried it though.

I have, and I have to say I quite liked it! My last line was in about 2003 though and I have absolutely no plans to do another.

Nope, never had any desire to try it. DH took it numerous times in his late teens/early 20s. I do know a fair few who have used it tbh, mostly when they were very young and messing around with drugs in general.

I've tried it, when I was in my twenties, it was all the rage for a bit . Didn't like it. It's all the rage in my naice middle class village amongst the forty something professionals. Can't understand wasting that sort of money when you have a family tbh, but then I'm not super rich.

I took it a few times when I was younger, haven't touched it or any drug apart from alcohol for well over 20 years

No never and I wouldn’t ever either. I have a really strong distain of being part of a drug chain that involves so much violence, corruption and evil (think Narcos etc).

I don't know about 'most' but it is definitely not uncommon below about age 35. At least several people do it recreationally in every friendship group I've ever known.
MN are obsessed with thinking everyone who has tried it is a raging druggie but the reality is they are usually well adjusted professionals, look respectable and have a decent income. Your accountant, lawyer, vet etc

I think this is a major point. Cocaine is EVERYWHERE now. I’m early 40s and it wasn’t readily available in my youth. From what I see and what others have told me it is possible to get Coke in every town in the country whenever you want now. There has been a massive change in availability and all ages are taking it from late teens to people in their 50s and 60s. You are completely right re the profile of users as well.

Never tried it. I don’t know anyone who has ever said they’ve tried it either. And I work in the media and live in London.

I haven't, neither has my h. Or my siblings, or my teenagers. One teen has seen someone doing a white powder though.
