Dh disapproves of coffee in bed?

Yesterdaywasntreal · 10/01/2023 11:40

Please help settle a disagreement. Early mornings with dcs are proving challenging atm, therefore I have suggested bringing our Dulce Gusto pod machine up to the bedroom. This will mean i can enjoy a quick coffee before the chaos starts, rather than during or not at all. Dh thinks it should stay in the kitchen "where it belongs." He says coffee in bed is lazy. AIBU or should I be a rebel?

Yanbu.
I haven’t got one in my room because I’m always up ridiculously early for work and weekends I like to make a decent pot of tea rather than coffee but the eldest child has one in his room and my husband has one in his hobby room.

girlfriend44 · 10/01/2023 16:16

Was the norm to have a teasmaid years ago.

It's not lazy at all

Jellybean23 · 10/01/2023 16:18

@Yesterdaywasntreal No, it was in her usual bedroom. Imagine the grease up the wall.

I eat in my living room but I’m yet to move in the oven! 😂

If you have an oven that you just pop in a pod and your dinner comes out, I'm sure we'd all love to know where to get one.....

Yesterdaywasntreal · 10/01/2023 16:23

@Jellybean23 I'm imagining an indoor tent complete with camping stove!

Why? If you're going to drink coffee in bed, whats the difference whether you make it there or not?

What! Why on earth not? What else do you use underneath the coffee table for? 🤣

My coffee machine!

Yesterdaywasntreal · 10/01/2023 16:26

@fromdownwest perfect use of space there😂

@Yesterdaywasntreal, maybe check out the noise levels of the coffee machines before buying. Not much good if the kids hear it.

I can't imagine eating a fry up in bed, let alone cooking one beside it.

Choconut · 10/01/2023 16:30

It's not lazy, it's convenient. Your OH sounds like a misery.

Yesterdaywasntreal · 10/01/2023 16:58

@Jellybean23 cooking it in there is a whole new level, but if it made your colleague happy that is main thing. I just want to do the coffee!
I already have the machine downstairs, it is 7 years old and still going strong! I got it as a birthday present and dh at the time said it would be a nother unused gadget ending up in back of cupboard. He ate humble pie with that one as it is our most well used kitchen item! It is relatively quiet, I'm more noisy going downstairs in a tired state, flay footed and creaky floorboards. Kitchen is below dc's rooms too which doesn't help matters.

Exactly @Choconutand convenience can be imperative at times. If dh doesn't like it I'll tell him he can take himself off downstairs, and sit at kitchen table to start work!

Id tell him that you disapprove of work being done in bed its totally inappropriate, you disapprove of phones pinging all night and they must be kept downstairs as it's waking you up....and if he doesn't wake him up every ping saying your phone....you disapprove of father's playing absent in the morning so like you he needs to shower in the evening and help....and stop making him a coffee....FFS you can't even drink yours why make him one? Then get a travel cup set clocks 10 mins earlier get everyone ready and sit down and drink your coffee even if it's in the car.

My phone sends an automatic text to DH when my alarm goes off in the morning…’good morning, I’m ready for my coffee’.

And then when I’ve had my first one I send him a selfie with a sad face and the empty mug…and he brings me another one.

Aim high.

I stand with fleece
😁

What a fantastic Idea for the weekend, inspired. 💐

JudgeRudy · 10/01/2023 18:25

My thoughts exactly.

LordSugarTits · 10/01/2023 18:31

My coffee is delivered to me but how about making it the night before? My Sho flask keeps it hot for long enough

Yesterdaywasntreal · 10/01/2023 18:38

'My coffee is delivered to me but how about making it the night before? My Sho flask keeps it hot for long enough'

Good idea, I'd need a decent flask though, and I'd probably make a mess pouring it into cups in a tired state.

I'm not a fan of food or hot drinks in the bedroom. Plenty of scope for accidents & mess. So I'm on DH's side.

I've heard it all now

Haha @ChiefWiggumsBoy I'm liking the idea of saying it is decadent. I'm going to tell dh he is narrow minded by not understanding the importance of decadence in the bedroom 😂

Get yourself a goddamn tray table and some sticky buns n'all!

SpanishSalsaing · 10/01/2023 19:05

I thought that maybe I'd slept like a baby,
Alas it was just a dream.
Then in popped my lover, pulled back the covers
Coz I like my coffee with cream.

Then I felt a stirring deep inside. (you stir me up inside)
Fill my cup (fill my cup) till it's flowing down the side.................

QueSyrahSyrah · 10/01/2023 19:06

I have a coffee in bed every morning, but in my case earlier-rising DH brings it to me. I'm willing to rent him out for a daily fee if that'll help?

EL0ISE · 10/01/2023 19:09

All of you who don’t allow eating or drinking in the bedroom because it’s smelly / messy / unhygienic - I bet you have sex on a special mat / puppy pad placed carefully on the bed so it doesn’t make a mess and wear disposable gloves throughout. Then leap up to have a shower then moment your partner is “ finished “ in case any body fluids touch your pristine sheets Hmm Grin

Smoky1107 · 10/01/2023 19:18

We have a machine in our room. It's my little bit of bliss every day

No. I don't have food or drink in the bedroom because I'm autistic and have complex PTSD which is the worst combination in this situation. My nose is extra sensitive to smells and unfortunately if there is anything 'not quite right' I am on edge and unable to settle. Having different smells in the one place where I need to be able to be clam and relaxed is actually disastrous.

But you keep looking down your nose at me.
