To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

I love them but prefer bubble bars

housemaus · 09/01/2023 14:15

I must have a vagina of steel because I've never got the thrush issue (luckily!). I could get a UTI by just thinking about being dehydrated though, so it evens out...

MaryShelley1818 · 09/01/2023 14:18

Never had thrush/cystitis in my life.

LOVE Bath Bombs!! And bubbles, and anything like that.

Floralnomad · 09/01/2023 14:19

I don’t mind a bath bomb as long as it has no glitter and no bits that don’t dissolve .

Can't use Bath bombs....they make an intimate area look like a pair of padded coat hangers so I steer well clear.

Snort laughed at this! Ouch!

ExtraJalapenos · 09/01/2023 22:10

There's a certain bath omb from lush that cleared my eczema up. I'm 35. Now I use lots of them.
I love the lush ones. They leave skin feeling buttery soft. Which is impossible for my scaly self usually lol

CandlelightGlow · 09/01/2023 22:13

I love them, the ones from Lush can smell great and they make the water all beautiful and sparkly. I don't care if that makes me childish I love it!

That being said, they are VERY strongly fragranced in LUSH and while the bath bomb was fine, the equivalent "bubble bar" was too strong and it irritated my vajayjay.

SunshineLoving · 09/01/2023 22:13

I like them.

I don't have many baths at all so don't tend to buy them but wouldn't mind receiving one as a present. They're fun.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 09/01/2023 22:17

🙄

CountZacular · 09/01/2023 22:23

I really like them, but only maybe once or twice a month. I like watching the colours unfold in some of the lush ones. I have stained my skin purple with once before though!

Not sure why they’d be just for children - what’s different to them than having any other product in your bath (essential oils/ bubble bath, etc)?

I’ve never had the thrush/ UTI thing from them either.

GlassBunion · 09/01/2023 22:52

Theyre basically the same as bath cubes in the 70s.
No one wanted them then.

sueelleker · 09/01/2023 09:48

You could have tied it up in something, like a bouquet garni?

Yes I could have. But it was the first one I'de ever seen so hadn't realised what would happen. First and last.

MaryMcCarthy · 10/01/2023 15:01

People obviously like them, judging by the crowds in LUSH.

xogossipgirlxo · 10/01/2023 15:05

Why wouldn't they? I think they're quite popular. I prefer bath salts, but PP is right, queues in Lush are ridiculous.

AnxiousPancreas · 10/01/2023 15:14

DH asked for one for Christmas because he said men are never bought them. I got him a dinosaur shaped one. Best day of his life I think.

Out of curiosity which one? The eczema on the back of my legs is flaring up and I don’t want to use steroid cream.

Rebel2023 · 10/01/2023 15:25

@sweetsintheair not the poster but big blue or butterball are both good (big blue is salt based, butterball has cocoa butter in it and is really moisturising)
If it's sore or itchy I would stick with butterball

Mariposista · 10/01/2023 15:46

I got some last year. I don't have a bath in my flat haha and I would probably be allergic to them. Thoughless present.

grumpycow1 · 10/01/2023 15:47

Also…. Yeast infection waiting to happen! 😂

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/01/2023 20:37

Lush invented the bath bomb, when they were Cosmetics To Go and the first one was a blackberry bomb, made to look like an actual weapon.. certainly not aimed at kids! Plus you had to buy from the catalogue...there were no actual shops and you had to send off a cheque or postal order. This was about late 80s and I must have been one of the first to buy one (I read about CTG in Just 17 and immediately sent for the first catalogue and promptly made an order)
I'm 51 now and occasionally have one as a treat.. Lush's Big Blues are amazing...I avoid glittery and oily bombs. Never had cystitis or thrush, in fact any issues at all in that department!

Needmorelego · 10/01/2023 20:39

@alltoomuchrightnow my sister was one of the early Cosmetics to Go customers. Always ordering loads of stuff. I remember they used to put little freebies in the boxes all the time like Creme Eggs.

Emmelina · 10/01/2023 21:02

I love a good bath bomb, but one bath and it’s over. I prefer the bubble bars where you break a bit off and crumble it in! One bar will do several baths.

WandaWonder · 10/01/2023 21:04

I love the idea of them but any bath products make me itch in areas I would rather not itch so don't have baths anymore

Thon · 10/01/2023 21:06

Agree they are absolutely rotten and mostly smell of sweets. Fastest way to a thrush infection outside of Stringfellows
