To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

My DP absolutely loves them, which unfortunately means that twice a year for her birthday and Christmas, I'm forced to venture into Lush and fight my way through the fug of lavender and over eager sales assistants to buy some.

ShakespearesBlister · 08/01/2023 14:04

Two Christmases ago my neighbour bought me a candy cane bath bomb in a plain paper bag. I thought what an odd present. I had no idea what it was and bit a lump off thinking it was a sweet they'd bough me. It burned my throat and was disgusting 🤮

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 08/01/2023 14:05

I love baths! I love a bath bomb. I love Lush ones.

caringcarer · 08/01/2023 14:05

I would not use them but just give them away. I do know some adults who love them though.

gfy · 08/01/2023 14:05

I don't use them but I seem to get shit loads for Christmas

Lobstercat · 08/01/2023 14:06

I love a bath bomb, as does dh, its a little luxury we try and get every so often, a handful of lush bath bombs

Thesearmsofmine · 08/01/2023 14:07

I love them! Some of the cheaper ones are a bit rubbish but some of the Lush ones smell gorgeous and leave your skin feeling lovely too.

ZeilanBlueSky · 08/01/2023 14:07

I much prefer showers so hardly ever have a bath. And when I've previously tried a bath bomb, I've ended up with irritated skin, especially around the genitals.

caringcarer · 08/01/2023 14:07

I hate candles too. I know lots of people like them but I really hate them.

Cococomellon · 08/01/2023 14:08

I like bath bombs and I like the lush scents. Agree with PP about Twilight!

why would you assume no adults like them just because you don't?

durhamduck · 08/01/2023 14:08

The way they melt and fizz is delicious to see but I also feel like my money is melting and fizzing away as I watch

Fairislefandango · 08/01/2023 14:09

Also amused at the speech marks in the thread title. Are you trying to say they are so-called bath bombs but are actually supposed to be referred to as something else, OP?

HotDogJumpingFrogHaveACookie · 08/01/2023 14:10

Lush sell in the region of 40 million bath bombs globally every year, so lots of adults clearly like them.

Technically, anything you add to bath water is pointless, but that doesn't mean you can't add something to make your bath nicer.

JudgeRudy · 08/01/2023 14:11

I wouldn't want one but yeah, adults use them.

PriamFarrl · 08/01/2023 14:12

I hate the idea of ‘I don’t like this thing, therefore anyone else who does like it is stupid/childish’.

girlmom21 · 08/01/2023 14:13

They make me feel unclean - like I need a shower after a bath with one!

H2bow · 08/01/2023 14:15

I refer math milks now, but I used to love using bath bombs. Have to be careful which ones as some are really drying on the skin, but the decent ones smell lovely and feel good on your skin. I've never got cystitis or thrush from them either although someone always runs on these threads to say all bath bombs lead to this!

longtompot · 08/01/2023 14:18

My dd loves them and she is 23. We bought her some from Miss Patisserie for Christmas this year and I think they are even better than the ones from Lush.

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 08/01/2023 14:19

Hate the damned things - they leave such a mess in the bath and the least relaxing thing is to know you’re going to have to thoroughly scrub the bathtub when you’re finished to get the Effing petals and glitter and all that crap.

I do love a nice long bath with a book and a gin and tonic.

jackstini · 08/01/2023 14:20

I love them, especially the ones with essential oils that stay on your skin after

There are some I don't like the smell of but just ask for no lavender or rose

Re cost, I chop the big ones into 2 or even 4!

thunderstruckk · 08/01/2023 14:21

😂 I have about 40 lush ones upstairs, shower melts too - shimmery shower jellies as well, body scrubs etc. I must be a huge child!!

TheGoogleMum · 08/01/2023 14:25

In laws bought me some for Christmas. I always shower tbh so not sure when they'll get used. DD gets eczema so I wouldn't let her use them instead either

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2023 14:28

I love lush bath bombs. Not any with plastic glitter in them, but anything that does fizzy fun things with colours and smells. Sakura is my favourite.
But they are so expensive, I can't bring myself to spend the ££ on them.

LittleBearPad · 08/01/2023 14:28

walnutmarzipan · 08/01/2023 14:01

I'm intrigued how you can get them to do more than one bath?

So am I? Once they fizz I doubt they’d dry very well?

Lairymary · 08/01/2023 14:36

Bomb cosmetics are my favourite. I just avoid ones with glitter and petals otherwise its a nasty workout scrubbing the tub after a nice relaxing bath. I have a big bowl of them and they make my bedroom smell amazing.
