To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

I'm intrigued how you can get them to do more than one bath?

You just break them up. The normal sized ones from anywhere are meant to be used in 2 baths, at least. It says so on the information stickers in the shop!

Drop them into the bottom of an empty bath/hit them with a mug and the round ones will split along the join. If you break a bit of each half you can get 3 baths. 4 is pushing it a bit.

The Lush flat cakes you just break a bit off, they can last for 4+ baths.

Depends where they are from!

Home bargains, yes smells of granny's
Lush, a good variety

Just curious as to what a Granny smells like?

Bath bombs @nonamehere Grin

Not for me. Give me some nice salts or a bottle of bath oil any day.

I have those too. For someone who only has a bath in winter I have quite a few different things. I also like making an oat milk bath - porridge oats in a muslin bag left to float in the water. Makes a body scrub too.

Drfosters · 08/01/2023 14:41

I love bath bombs!! Then again I don’t think I have grown any older in my head since the age of 15. I was thinking other day how much I’d love some of those body shop bath pearls you used to get in the 90s.

nonamehere · 08/01/2023 14:41

But, amazingly, not all bath bombs are the same...

Badger1970 · 08/01/2023 14:42

I can't be arsed cleaning the bath with a scourer after to get rid of the crap it leaves behind.

That's definately age related Grin

RewildingAmbridge · 08/01/2023 14:44

I used a whole lush Twilight one last week I didn't realise you're meant to break them! It was lovely though. I like to combine them with l'occitane Shea/almond bath oil so you still get done bubbles. Lush also do one in a muslin with oats, Shea butter and other things that you hang on the tap while it runs, even when my skin has been really dry and sensitive it has been so soothing and moisturising.
Someone bought DS some bright red Spiderman Ives and when you look on the ingredients it's just a list of chemicals. Those are going to get lost at some point.....

OrangePomander · 08/01/2023 14:45

I hate them because I spend far too long cleaning glitter and shea butter residue out of the bath after dc have finished…
Admittedly the Bomb ones that they have smell nice, but I cba to put them in my bath too.

My dd loves them and she is 23. We bought her some from Miss Patisserie for Christmas this year and I think they are even better than the ones from Lush.

oops! I appear to have some on the way to me now. Great sale going on. Thanks for the pointer!

I used to love the way they would eventually pop between your fingers as the shell dissolved.

Needmorelego · 08/01/2023 14:48

@Drfosters I saw some bath pearls in a shop the other day ("how retro" my brain said 🤣).
Can't remember which shop unfortunately.
Possibly Savers, Poundland or One Below (trying to remember what shops I went in last week).

zingally · 08/01/2023 14:50

I used them quite often in my early-mid 20s. But in my late 30s now, and I can't remember the last time I spent my own money on one. I get the occasional one given as a gift, and I do use it, but that's about it.

Talia99 · 08/01/2023 14:51

I don’t like them (I’m not a bath person - I prefer showers) but I have always thought they are for adults not children. Don’t children prefer bubbles?

HaddawayAndShite · 08/01/2023 14:51

Oh just let people like things ffs. You don’t like them, great. You’re so mature and grown up. Not mature enough to give away something someone could have used and moved the fuck on but you enjoy your grown up baths

LolaSmiles · 08/01/2023 14:53

YABU
I don't like them, but know plenty of people who do.

There's lots of different soaps or bath soaks and you'd not start a thread about bath soaks/soap being silly for adults.

Fairislefandango · 08/01/2023 14:57

Smells of granny's what? Sorry - couldn't resist...

SomeCommonThing · 08/01/2023 15:03

I like Lush bath bombs, they often have essential oils in that are a nice treat for my skin.
We don't use the bath at all anymore, we just shower, but I do like a nice relaxing soak with a bath bomb!

Hope you like them! The box smells amazing when it arrives 🥰

KatherineJaneway · 08/01/2023 15:14

I love them but my skin is sensitive now so can't use them

kitsuneghost · 08/01/2023 15:15

YABU. 47 and love them. Can spend a small fortune on them.

Joytotheworld88 · 08/01/2023 15:17

Couldn't agree more! I get bath bombs from DHs family every Xmas/birthday. They never make bubbles, just fill the water with glitter, colours or flower petals so then I have to clean the tub after!

Rockingcloggs · 08/01/2023 15:22

If I didn't get Lush Snow Fairy bath bombs or bubble bars for Christmas each year I think I'd kick off! I love a lush bath bomb on a weekend and I don't mind the cheaper Bomb Cosmetic ones for a week day!

bluesuitcase · 08/01/2023 15:39

I love them. There is such a variety I can’t see how you can dislike them all. I like the ones from bomb cosmetics. They make my skin feel lovely so I don’t need to moisturise afterwards.

Squamata · 08/01/2023 15:39

I got given a Christmas pudding one once, looked like I'd shat the bath
