To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

They're horrible itchy things and stain the bath - any I get I throw out straight away

Squamata · 08/01/2023 15:40

They're just bicarb and oil, leave the bath all greasy

gamerchick · 08/01/2023 15:43

Nah, thrush. No thankyou.

Glitterblue · 08/01/2023 15:43

I love them, especially the Lush ones. Some of the Lush ones make me sleepy and are great right before bed.

pelargoniums · 08/01/2023 15:54

Recipe for a thrushy fanny and a blocked plughole; ghastly things.

I think the bath bomb audience probably coincides with the hot choc, wrist warmers, fluffy socks audience.

Silverpining · 08/01/2023 16:14

What an odd post, bath bombs aren’t for children, so it’s odd to think they’re only for kids when they’re made for and marketed for adults.

Astrabees · 08/01/2023 16:17

I love Lush bath bombs, DH gave me an enormous box from Lush at Christmas.

RealBecca · 08/01/2023 16:20

Love them and not had thrush. Stopped using them as Lush are £5 a go now and I can buy neom for £20 and get more baths

ProhibitedSteps · 08/01/2023 16:21

YANBU - One from Lush gave me such a bad UTI that I ended up admitted into hospital

Fluffygreenslippers · 08/01/2023 16:25

I love bath bombs

I'm prone to thrush and cystitis and bath bombs don't bother me. It's bloody weird how different fannies react to the same scents, stimulus. You can never be bloody certain of anything!.

RambamThankyouMam · 08/01/2023 16:55

Lush --> thrush.

Hmm I hate hot chocolate, do not own a wrist warmer - I’m not actually sure I can picture a pair! - and have only ever had fluffy socks bought for me (kept unworn at the back of the drawer… thanks SIL) but I have just had a bath with a nice vanilla scented bath bomb. Luckily, I’ve never had thrush either… depends whether you’re prone to it I assume. What is meant to block the plug hole? The ones I use all melt away to nothing!

Alittlenonsensenowandthen · 08/01/2023 16:58

Thrush bombs more like! Would love to have bubble baths or bath bombs but too risky!

bathbombaholic · 08/01/2023 17:01

😳🤣

Some of them (particularly the ones from Lush) have items embedded, like flower petals or herbs. They end up floating on the surface of the water and actually look quite nice. The problem is with draining the bath - they either end up sitting there and have to be cleaned up or, much worse, they go down the plug hole and cause a blockage.

There is probably some clever way to keep the solid additives from causing issues but I have no idea what it is. Maybe skim the top of the water with a sieve before pulling the plug?

TimeToFlyNow · 08/01/2023 17:07

I like them, my fanny has never had a problem with them

LisaD1 · 08/01/2023 17:12

I use them and love them. My DD15 and I have a basket where we keep any we are gifted and both use them. Personal choice huh.

bellabasset · 08/01/2023 17:13

I have sensitive skin so nothing smelly and I have a shower. Mine was gratefully received by a local charity.

Ludo19 · 08/01/2023 17:16

Can't use Bath bombs....they make an intimate area look like a pair of padded coat hangers so I steer well clear.

ColdHandsHotHead · 08/01/2023 17:18

back in the day, they were called 'bath cubes' and were what you gave your grandma

I'm not a fan because they are mostly cheap and horrible.

Crunchymum · 08/01/2023 17:18

My 8yo wants to go to Lush to spend her birthday money! My fanny itches at the mere thought of bath bombs.

Ludo19 · 08/01/2023 17:20

Squamata · 08/01/2023 15:39

I got given a Christmas pudding one once, looked like I'd shat the bath

🤣🤣🤣very descriptive

JaninaDuszejko · 08/01/2023 17:23

DD1 (15) is obsessed, she likes a bath after she plays football. I buy them from TK Maxx for her. Never realised the large ones were suppose to be broken up, may explain the itchy vulvas some people get if they are using too much.

MissOldCadburys · 08/01/2023 17:34

I like them, never had any problems.
Bubble bath however always ends up in a uti.
