To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

Got 2 Lush ones from my son for Christmas. I love them.

Yerroblemom1923 · 08/01/2023 13:40

I love the Lush ones but not the old fashioned boring ones that great aunties enjoy.

littlegreenheart · 08/01/2023 13:40

I don't like the LUSH type but I sometimes use therapeutic ones - no artificial colour and they just smell like whatever essential oils are in them, mostly things like rosemary, lavender, lemon balm, etc.

I do think they're not a great gift unless you know that someone likes them and have an idea of their specific tastes.

SunshineClouds1 · 08/01/2023 13:41

Depends where they are from!

Home bargains, yes smells of granny's
Lush, a good variety

SproutsLCerVEGNoEgg · 08/01/2023 13:42

My Mum sent me a gorgeous looking one from overseas with my Christmas present, last year she sent the ones you put in a shower.

Shes coming up 80, so I suppose I can't expect her to remember everything, but the fact I can't be in a room with any artificial fragrance at all has been a pretty big part of my life/our travelling etc.

They're expensive, hand crafted ones too. I should have said something last year, but she doesn't usually send the same 'bits' more than once (& technically she hasn't), so I didn't.

I do have friends who appreciate them though

i think there's a big adult market for them & I can't see why you'd think they were only suitable for children?

not with adult fragrance & petals etc at £££

if I was buying for children, I'd but the ones marketed at children.

Watto1 · 08/01/2023 13:42

I was given one that looked and felt like a block of orange jelly with petals in it. It felt far too oily. I really didn’t like the feel of it. I stuck it out for a couple of minutes but then had to let the water out and have a shower instead. But the oil had made the bath so slippery I nearly did myself a mischief so I had to clean the bath. So all in all, not the relaxing experience I was hoping for!

nancydroo · 08/01/2023 13:42

It would go straight into the bin - would not even regift. Here is some tat... nope.

JamSandle · 08/01/2023 13:43

Yanbu. They don't last long and make me itchy.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/01/2023 13:45

I like them well enough. I hate cleaning the bath after so don't bother.

Oysterbabe · 08/01/2023 13:48

I don't think I've had a bath in 10 years, yanbu.

Mercurial123 · 08/01/2023 13:50

YANBU I hate them.

ConsuelaHammock · 08/01/2023 13:51

Huge waste of money imo.

My 3yo is obsessed with bath bombs! I don't really bath much since having children but I used to like the Lush ones. Not the ones with glitter in that take ages to clean off afterwards though...

I like the glitter ones as well, tho the glitter is hard to get rid of.
Although I do love to see either DH or DS go off to work with glitter in their eyebrows! 😆

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 08/01/2023 13:53

I love a bath bomb.
Stop fixating over whether its 'OK' to do as it seems too young and just enjoy it or don't. There's no issue with liking or not liking a bath bomb

Choconut · 08/01/2023 13:54

A friend bought me some, they smelt so much I felt sick even before unwrapping them.

LlynTegid · 08/01/2023 13:54

Seem something to get as a present when you either only give a token present or have no clue what to get someone.

Most adults would love the time to be able to laze in a bath regularly, I'd expect most have showers.

Willyoujustbequiet · 08/01/2023 13:56

Love them. My skin feels amazing for days after.

Have to be decent ones though.

WedonttalkaboutMaureen · 08/01/2023 13:57

YABU. I don't see why they would be any more or less pointless than putting any other kind of bubble bath, bath salts, oils etc in the bath. Any of those products can be nice or not nice, with quality ingredients or not, and smell old-fashioned (whatever that means) or... modern?

Was coming on to say exactly this. They are just one of the many options to add some scent, bubbles etc to a bath. I know loads of adults that like them and use them - and there IS obviously a market for them for adults not just kids as they sell well.

MrNorrell · 08/01/2023 13:58

They aren't something I'd ever use if I wasn't given them as presents but I don't find them as objectionable as some people on this thread do.

purplecorkheart · 08/01/2023 13:59

I don't normally get given them because it is only showers in my house. I have been offered a couple from a friend if I am going away for a weekend etc to relax. However I am afraid to accept after reading the thread here about the glitter bathbomb for the Jubilee so have always refused.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/01/2023 14:00

Love them!

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 08/01/2023 13:33

Are some of you forgetting that each bath bomb is sold to do 2 baths, some of them will do 3 quite happily?

I like some. I use them in winter baths, when the cold has sunk into my bones. I have ME/CFS so nice long baths are pretty important to me.

I'm intrigued how you can get them to do more than one bath?

walnutmarzipan · 08/01/2023 14:02

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 08/01/2023 13:27

They make me itch!

Just looking at them makes me itch

otherwayup · 08/01/2023 14:02

Majorly shite present for me, although at 52 I seem to get them a lot so accept politely.

I hate baths and if I was forced to have one, I certainly don't want half a ton of glitter and rose petals up my fanjo!

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 08/01/2023 14:03

Not for me. Give me some nice salts or a bottle of bath oil any day.
