To think adults dont use “bath bombs”

I seem to get tons of them for Christmas. They always smell old fashioned and I can’t imagine anyone actually using them apart from children?! I’ve just chucked one in the bath (to get rid of it) and watched it melt away. Absolutely pointless surely?

YABU - they’re great
YANBU - they’re pointless for anyone over the age of 12

I saw bath pearls in Asda before Christmas I bought some for DD. She was a bit confused about why they didn't fizz like a bath bomb.

featheryfancy · 08/01/2023 19:28

I do!
Not the glittery sparkly ones but have chamomile and almond ones for when I want a luxurious soak as not a fan of bubble bath.

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 08/01/2023 19:36

I'm neither a bath, nor a bath bomb person, because I'd rather get in and out of a shower rapidly, and it would be inconvenient to attempt to use a bath bomb during a speedy shower.

However, I think YABU, purely on the grounds that, even if bath bombs are childish, which is by no means a universal fact, adults can also legitimately enjoy childish things, and I don't like the snobbery associated with the idea that "adults don't...".

Jules912 · 08/01/2023 19:40

I do, so long as they don't have glitter in! Who wants to be covered in glitter!? I like putting them under my back and have them fizz up.

housemaus · 08/01/2023 19:53

Love them. Although I prefer bubble bars - I can get 5 baths out of a Lush Milky Bath!

Fairislefandango · 08/01/2023 20:12

One of the things I least like about MN is the faux-confused 'I just don't understand why anyone could possibly like x' threads. The only thing you need to 'understand' is that people like different things. And actually, unless you're a complete idiot, you definitely do understand that. You just enjoy being disingenuously sneery.

StaceySolomonSwash · 08/01/2023 20:15

Love the effect but they increase my risk of thrush etc so I pass them on to other people if I'm given them.

Mum2jenny · 08/01/2023 20:17

Some I love, some I don’t.

VestaTilley · 08/01/2023 20:18

YABU. A friend of mine (37) uses them about three times a week.

StormObelisk · 08/01/2023 20:20

I love the aroma works bath bombs now and then.

Caiti19 · 08/01/2023 20:20

I think they are visually pleasing, but also a known irritant to girl's privates? So I'd argue opposite - okay for adults, but not good for some young girls.

Ffsmakeitstop · 08/01/2023 20:23

I only shower these days due to arthritis but my friend once bought me one with petals and twigs floating about. I couldn't get in it as it proper freaked me out, the thought of it touching me was horrible. I understand that's my weird issue though.

Baconand · 08/01/2023 20:23

I love them.
Alas no bath in current house 😭 which is a tragedy. Although to be fair I only had 3-4 baths a year on average so rather wasted on me really. But the fact I can’t have a bath makes me want one obviously!

They seem to be irritating to some and not others, regardless of age. I've used them with no ill effects, as did dd when she was little.

junglistmassive · 08/01/2023 20:25

I just have to look at them and I've got thrush

MotherofPearl · 08/01/2023 20:28

I prefer old fashioned bath cubes to bath bombs. Also love bath salts, especially Neals Yard ones.

I like them, my fanny has never had a problem with them

😂😂😂

You could have tied it up in something, like a bouquet garni?

louderthan · 09/01/2023 12:18

Thrush. That's all I have to say about bath bombs.

Hotpinkangel19 · 09/01/2023 12:26

thunderstruckk · 08/01/2023 14:21

😂 I have about 40 lush ones upstairs, shower melts too - shimmery shower jellies as well, body scrubs etc. I must be a huge child!!

Same!

stopthebarking · 09/01/2023 12:30

I wouldn't want them, partly because I prefer showers to baths, but plenty of adults do enjoy them. I'd probably save them and regift to someone I thought might enjoy them.

Rebel2023 · 09/01/2023 12:44

MissOldCadburys · 08/01/2023 17:34

I like them, never had any problems.
Bubble bath however always ends up in a uti.

Same. I stick to oils, salts and bath bombs and no issues

somanybooks · 09/01/2023 12:47

I love them, but not in baths. I use them in their paper bags amongst my clothes so they smell nice. My PJ drawer gives a lovely waft when I open it, and for some reason scented thick tights are nicer to put on 😆 (Yes, I know about fabric softener, but I find it unpleasant, bath bombs are far superior for scenting clothes imo).

Itsgooddaywhenyouseetworobins · 09/01/2023 12:57

I usually get one or two at Christmas - It's a nice treat tbh, except the one year the bath was dyed pink! (Not so much of a treat when you spend 20 minutes bleaching the bath!). I got a milk one once - I keep looking for them but can't seem to find one anywhere... but that was lovely. I never had anything like this when I was a kid and maybe it is childish but I sometimes like childish things! (I don't really think they are childish though!)

Oher · 09/01/2023 13:28

They gave DC a rash and stained the bath so I don’t use them. Find the whole idea weird.

Do love dead sea bath salts though
