AIBU to be annoyed when a random stranger asks this question??
Wtf.

OP posts:
UsingChangeofName · 05/01/2023 23:37

YABU to ask random questions without context

Changingplace · 05/01/2023 23:39

Why would you be annoyed? It’s surely a simple yes or no, what’s the big deal?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/01/2023 23:41

Depends on the context. Are they randomly quizzing you or have you just asked them for travel/day out recommendations and they want to make sure they don't give you unfeasible suggestions for your circumstances?

OoooohMatron · 05/01/2023 23:41

It's not a question I would ask really as i assume most adults can drive. What was the context?

DomesticShortHair · 05/01/2023 23:42

Well, it would annoy me if I was asked that. But only if I was driving at the time.

theGooHasGone · 05/01/2023 23:42

I presume you don't?

Wtf.

What about that question annoys you?

TheChosenTwo · 05/01/2023 23:42

Same as @OoooohMatron - I presume most adults can drive so probably wouldn’t ever really come up in general conversation. How often are you asked and can you actually drive?!

purpleme12 · 05/01/2023 23:43

Assuming this was a friendly chat (what other situation are we talking about?!) No I wouldn't mind.
Isn't it a factual question?

caravanbuckie · 05/01/2023 23:43

I don't talk to strangers.

MammaWeasel · 05/01/2023 23:44

Why are you annoyed??

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/01/2023 23:45

I don't talk to strangers.

So you're properly acquainted with every single registered user on MN, then?! Grin

EmmaC78 · 05/01/2023 23:46

Its hardly a sensitive topic, why would this annoy you.

ilovesooty · 05/01/2023 23:46

Unless we know the context I don't see how we can comment.

I don't tend to be approached by random strangers asking me that question.

This.

Oakbeam · 05/01/2023 23:50

I think anger is a bit unreasonable. Bemused maybe.

CrunchyCarrot · 05/01/2023 23:50

A bit more context is needed, OP!

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2023 23:51

I don't know about annoyed, but I'd be puzzled if a random stranger asked this without some good reason.

HoneyDragon · 05/01/2023 23:51

caravanbuckie · 05/01/2023 23:43

I don't talk to strangers.

Except the ones on the thread 😁

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2023 23:51

What the what now.

BabyOnBoard90 · 05/01/2023 23:51

YABU.

I'm not that easily offended

Chickenkeev · 05/01/2023 23:53

I don't drive, couldn't care less if asked. Why should i unless i was imposing on eberyone else. I get a bus or a taxi.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/01/2023 23:57

I suppose it's maybe like the difference between somebody making friendly small-talk at the bus stop asking if you're local and Edward & Tubbs asking the same thing in their shop!

DixonD · 06/01/2023 00:00

Yes, unreasonable to be angry about it.

Just say yes/no.
