Is it awkward to date a man a lot skinnier an you?

There’s a man who Im not sure if I'm interested in or not…. He’s handsome and has a good personality.

Just don’t know though… He’s a lot skinnier than I am. I’m not overweight as such but I’m a little curvy. I have never been with a man thinner than me though so I’m just wondering if it would feel awkward especially in intimate moments. I like him but I’m worried I will end up feeling self conscious.

Am I being unreasonable to worry about this?

If you’re a “little curvy” and he’s “much skinner” than you…. Are we talking famine victim skinnier?

pearlearringgirl · 03/01/2023 16:57

Yeah he’s really skinny… Like I could probably pick him up I think he would weigh so little 🤣

I'd be worried I'd crush his ribcage!
In seriousness, it's the connection that matters, he may be physically very agile ;)

Theonewiththecandles · 03/01/2023 17:05

Honestly I think its only awkward if you make it awkward eg feeling uncomfortable about your body, trying to contort yourself into "flattering" positions when having sex.
I am most definitely fat, size 20 and short. My DH is probably at least 5 stone lighter than me and nearly a foot taller. It works just fine for us

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 03/01/2023 17:08

My DP is 9st. I'm at least 4st heavier. It doesn't seem to bother him and he's still physically stronger than I am despite it not looking that way.
I never go on top though lol.

hattie43 · 03/01/2023 17:16

I don't go for skinny men , I just don't like the look ,

Mardyface · 03/01/2023 17:18

Me & DH look like Jack Spratt and his wife. But it works pretty well in the sack and always has.

Summer2424 · 03/01/2023 17:31

Hi @pearlearringgirl my ex was really skinny compared to me, honestly it didn't matter, intimacy side of things was great 😊

BillyNotQuiteNoMates · 03/01/2023 17:33

Tbf, my ex was a LOT thinner than me. “It” worked a lot better than being with a larger man 🙈😂
Depends if you’re attracted to him or not though, and vice versa

2023willbemyyear · 03/01/2023 17:34

Ive been with a skinnier guy and it was fine. The main equipment isnt skinnier 😂

SpinningFloppa · 03/01/2023 17:36

I don’t find skinny men attractive it’s up to you though doesn’t matter how others feel

Well that is odd Op

not so much as “would you date so one skinnier than you” more “would you date a emaciated man that looks like he’s about to keel over”

LizziesTwin · 03/01/2023 17:39

With time it becomes less of a problem, I weigh the same, he’s gained at least 2 stone.

nc824 · 03/01/2023 17:42

Well so long as both a healthy size I don't think it matters who is smaller, but skinny isn't attractive in a man in my opinion.

5128gap · 03/01/2023 17:43

Unless you're exceptionally tall, as a woman who isn't OW, an adult man 'a lot skinnier' than you must be extraordinarily thin. I'm average height and not OW, and can't think of any men thinner than me, so I think I would be put off by one who was, as it would be so extreme.

GhostBridezilla · 03/01/2023 17:46

My DH is much skinnier than me. It’s all good.

Wombats67 · 03/01/2023 17:51

Yep, I'm 20kg and best part of a foot shorter than my lovely DH. I threaten divorce when he goes too skinny.

I did once dump a guy as he had a 6-pack but was very short and I felt like a hovercraft next to him but it's all ok with DH. You need to feel comfortable for a good relationship!

Rustyhandlebars · 03/01/2023 17:52

Skinny men are usually attracted to curvier women from my experience of friends . I'm very slim and I have only had chunky partners.

GoldenCupidon · 03/01/2023 17:56

Not at all awkward, I'm curvier (as a shape, whether I'm a size 10 or a 14) and always fancied tall, slim men. Works great and often it's a case of opposites attracting I think.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 03/01/2023 18:01

I only like 'em skinny. I've been porky and slim and back to porky over the years. Never made a difference really. I'm ok to go on top too. Men can be lazy buggers and never seemed to mind 😂.

ChigedyJigHeeHawHeeHawItsDominicTheDonkey · 03/01/2023 18:02

Nah. I'm 4 stone fatter than my other half!!

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 03/01/2023 18:06

just don’t snap him

GoldenCupidon · 03/01/2023 18:07

there are a lot of couples out there that look like a number 10 in silhouette, although who's the 1 and who's the 0 can vary.

Nice to see my fellow skinny lovers on here! (disclaimer, I have dated men of all shapes, it's just skinny was my "type" for years)

RambamThankyouMam · 03/01/2023 18:07

My DH is very lithe whereas I'm, eh, what you might call Rubenesque. It's never been an issue for us. If the chemistry is there!

PaperMonster · 03/01/2023 18:10

OH is skinny. I do miss a chunkier bloke.
