Tory voters are hypocrites to complain about the state of the NHS

Wtf did they think they were voting for? The Tories have NEVER left the NHS in a better state when they left office than it was in when they came to power.

If you think the Labour Party understands economics, you only have to look at what Gordon Brown did, selling our gold reserves at the very bottom of the market, thanks Gordon.

Do you know how much that cost each family in the UK?
I know the LSE recently worked out that Brexit has cost each household a £250 increase in food bills alone. Although, as we know, Brexit is worth any price to its voters.

I agree, Corbyn was terrible (although I did like some of the policies). I haven't voted Labour since the Iraq war though.
Got an opinion on Johnson or Truss?
How did they do as leaders?

Johnson overspent so even though I didn’t react to partygate as many others did his spending to appease was getting stressful

No desire to have Truss but no vote. Sunak would have been my choice partly due to extra funding for social care, and he was proved right re predictions in summer.

But no I’m not so loyal as to want U.K. to do badly if Labour win, that’s madness to me. I have dc who will want to stay in all likelihood. I am not enamoured by Starmer and dislike some policies, but if they do win I hope it’s ok not worse.

Luckydip1 · 02/01/2023 19:05

@Kendodd well the Tory PM told us all to vote against Brexit at the referendum...

MarshaBradyo · 02/01/2023 19:06

In any case Labour have won my vote in the past I just don’t like the policies so far. If they were dropped and another direction taken they could have it again.

PineapplePear · 02/01/2023 19:15

Gordon Brown sold the gold cheap, costing us approx £2b. Liz Truss was PM for weeks, and her mini budget cost us £30b in damage.

Thats not to mention the billions lost due to brexit and the redlines to further inhibit trade, the covid payouts written off and dodgy deals with the likes of Michelle mone.

Bring back Gordon Brown

Plbrookes · 02/01/2023 19:21

pucellauxblanchesmains - how dishonest you are. I guess you were another one who voted Remain to keep access to cheap kitchen fitters from Eastern Europe without letting any of the "wrong type of migrant" in. But it's not racist when you do it. Right?

Plbrookes · 02/01/2023 19:23

PineapplePear - and you'd have been the first to whine about furlough and business support payments being delayed. Can't stand hypocrites like you.

At least the British public had a say in Brexit. Can't remember Brown selling off the gold being in their manifesto!

PineapplePear · 02/01/2023 19:31

Brown sold the gold to diversify our reserves, a trend most countries moved towards because gold prices had been declining for years and it was a risk. He could have off loaded in a smarter way, but it wasn’t reckless.
@Plbrookes you just fire back with generalisations, smug assumptions and insults, can’t think why you avoid facts 😂😂

MarshaBradyo · 02/01/2023 19:32

Brown has offered policies to Starmer so pp might be closer to their wish than they think

Anotherusernameanotheday · 02/01/2023 19:37

@MarshaBradyo Labour are so bad at looking to why they failed. They go on and on wah people voted Tory. Not once do they think I wonder why we did SO badly.
See that's clearly wrong.
Starmer is detested by the tiny minority of corbynite supporters that remains in the party so he's obviously doing something right. Rachel Reeves is not John Mcdonald.
Labour have promised to make brexit work. Lisa Nandy has reiterated that today.
You seem weirdly ambivalent about tory ineptitude. I guess you are fairly well off and well insulated from the effects of their policies so can fixate on other things like self ID. Labour is no doubt thrashing out a manifesto and will publicise it at a later date so you can make your mind up then.

Anotherusernameanotheday · 02/01/2023 19:39

@Plbrookes how do you feel about Albanians ?😂

I haven’t mentioned Self ID but yes I’m not voting for that. Tbh I’m not paid by the state so whether it’s Tory or Labour my income in the private sector hasn’t been impacted much, NHS has been good for us and state education too - and we use both so can compare.

Overall though my interest isn’t personal as it is re the U.K. Labour policies aren’t what I want. I could vote for them if they were. I know there’s many Labour supporters here who don’t agree but that’s fine. I’m not going to convince anyone, like I say they could well win - in which case here’s hoping it goes well.

But on they ‘have promised to make Brexit work’. What a missed opportunity, nice to promise but they could have been braver.

I will say a couple of good things about Starmer - unlike pp I do think he realises how badly Corbyn was for the party and he also wants to keep union together. Silver linings…

Babdoc · 02/01/2023 09:52

I live in Scotland. Our fully devolved NHS is run by the SNP, not the Conservatives, and it’s a disaster area. In Wales it’s run by Labour. Same result.
So no, I am not a hypocrite, thank you, OP.
Perhaps you could do a little more research before insulting people on MN?

Is it really? Not my first hand experience. And definitely not compared to my relative's experience in an English hospital.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 02/01/2023 19:57

@Plbrookes I don't care particularly about cheap kitchens, no. I think in general it's better to pay British people higher wages than import labour. But if it's a choice between European immigration and immigration from elsewhere I think the former would make more sense for us for many reasons including cultural similarities. I don't care if fake conservatives like you think that's racist! I don't think you get it- I'm not woke. There's nothing dishonest here. I just don't like conservatives in name only who hate white people to own the libs.

Plbrookes · 02/01/2023 20:05

Anotherusernameanotheday - I don't have any view on Albanians. You're another racist I guess. Shocking how many have come out of the woodwork in this thread.

Anotherusernameanotheday · 02/01/2023 20:07

Racist ? How ?

Plbrookes · 02/01/2023 20:12

pucelleauxblanchesmains - 'fake conservative' - sure that meant something to you when you typed it. I hate hypocrisy and wilful stupidity. So I don't think you've anything of value to contribute to the discussion.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 02/01/2023 20:18

@Plbrookes You were doing the classic "actually the liberals are the real racists not like me I voted for Brexit for MORE immigration" signalling that's the hallmark of people who think not wanting to pay as much tax makes them in any way conservative. And it's amusing because you clearly believe anyone who doesn't agree with you is a liberal you'll really be wounding with spurious accusations of racism rather than an actual social conservative.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 02/01/2023 20:19

@Plbrookes and this whole debate started with you trying to be clever and acting like normal people panicking about if their granny will die in a hospital corridor are probably "racist remainers" based on... What? Vibes?

Blossomtoes · 02/01/2023 20:23

WestwardHo1 · 02/01/2023 18:38

"The lefties" sounds so childish

Doesn’t it just. And as for the constant “What about Jeremy Corbyn …” when he’s not even a Labour MP any more. I bloody despair.

CookieMoolier · 02/01/2023 20:24

All going to the Tory plan to drive the NHS to collapse . Disgusting sub human b*stards.

MarshaBradyo · 02/01/2023 20:25

So people can mention those who voted Tory in last election as in op but get upset if the person who was leader for Labour at the time is mentioned

ok…

I know he was crap but collective amnesia seems preferable for Labour.

WeeWillyWinkie9 · 02/01/2023 20:28

To be fair Labour voters share that burden too given the state that Labour left it in. Both have been a shit show stripping the NHS of services and staff.

You might find this interesting. Some facts with evidence.
