Genuinely now have the mindset that's it's not 'will' the NHS go under but 'when'. I'm not in the NHS though so I guess I'm asking 2 questions here....

  1. YABU the NHS will survive somehow or YANBU the NHS is going to go 100%
  1. If IANBU when? How much longer do you think we have?

It's because too many people are using it, and not enough people are contributing. I can see the NHS becoming a very basic service, closing down non life threatening departments. E.g. cosmetic surgery, allergies and skin complaints. If people want access to better health care, then they'll buy insurance and see a private consultant.

Allergies can be life threatening. No-one gets cosmetic surgery on the NHS with the exception or reconstruction after trauma or surgery.

Skin complaints can also be life destroying

Do you have allergies or skin complaints? I have both. One of my allergies is dangerous. I also have bad skin complaints. What about quality of life?

It will last as long as the people are willing to have a 3rd world country healthcare system.

for me it was already not fit for purpose 10 years ago , so I hope it officially goes asap . It’s scary not having medical care .

This pish again. The NHS has been 'on the brink of collapse' since I've been on MN, and my son is a teenager now. It's under huge pressure and there are many patients being let down but broadly, hospitals are still open and fully functioning. My mum had a superlative experience when she needed emergency gall bladder surgery two months ago. I'm so sorry others haven't had that experience but the NHS will not close this year or next, what nonsense.
