To try and pop this lump?

I’ve got a horrible lump on the back of my ear, obviously I can’t see it but DH said it looks like a massive zit. It’s about as big as an M&M - it’s getting painful now.

GP surgery is closed until 6th Jan. it doesn’t warrant an emergency appointment - I’ve got some sterile needles, should I just pop the fucker?

It's a giant blackhead (I can see it in the picture) so no don't put a pin in it just give it a gentle squeeze from as far under it as you can get

UseAMuckySock · 27/12/2022 21:36

Would a pharmacy look at it rather than the Gp? Really can’t be arsed to call the surgery 150 times only to be told that all appointments have gone for the day

I want to pop it but what if it’s a lymph node? Can anyone tell what it is?

It's a spot, this does not warrant a GP visit

incognitodorrito · 27/12/2022 21:36

i had something similar a few years ago, a lot came out, very enjoyable getting rid of the pressure !

Merryoldgoat · 27/12/2022 21:38

That’s just a spot or small cyst - Dr really not required.

AutisticLegoLover · 27/12/2022 21:38

I'm just here for the photos of the gunk once it's out.

UseAMuckySock · 27/12/2022 21:38

trying to squeeze it but it’s really hard! (As in firm)

And now it’s really hurting 😂

Take it to the pharmacy

Newlifefortyplus · 27/12/2022 21:40

Hot compress to loosen the contents and draw to a head for popping

Dondigdu · 27/12/2022 21:41

Soak it in warm water before you attempt to pop it

HyacinthBridgerton · 27/12/2022 21:41

Pop a flannel soaked in hot (as hot as you can bear) water over it for 3 mins then try again

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/12/2022 21:42

Is it under the skin, or in the cartilage? If the latter, that will hurt and likely what is inside is not all that runny, more like a stiff paste so a needle hole will not be sufficient.

I would put a hot cloth on it as long as I could stand, then stab it (or have a strong stomached person!) with a sharp clean scalpel. But I cannot leave such things be!

toomuchfaster · 27/12/2022 21:42

Don't take it to a pharmacy, we won't recommend popping it. Just use a drawing paste to bring it to a head and time will do the rest.

McDonaldsMcChanel · 27/12/2022 21:43

I used to get these behind ear lumps and was told it's fro not drying behind ear properly.

When mine popped - of its own accord - it created a kind of scab that was fun to play with afterwards.

Enjoy.

Sherbetdip123 · 27/12/2022 21:44

I had same thing on my neck which became infected last week and had to be numbed and cut into to empty it. Please don’t pop it because that puss could be infected and get into your blood stream.

ClarissaPoncissa · 27/12/2022 21:44

MrsMontyD · 27/12/2022 21:34

GP surgeries will be open tomorrow, they only close on bank holidays.

Mine is definitely closed until the 3rd January!

jannier · 27/12/2022 21:45

Pharmacy will advise you may get a drawing agent or they could recommend getting antibiotics

GodisaBC · 27/12/2022 21:52

I really wouldn’t waste the gps time for that.

DairyDiary · 27/12/2022 21:55

This is glorious

3luckystars · 27/12/2022 21:57

pull it apart rather than squeeze it

friskybivalves · 27/12/2022 22:03

Some magnesium sulphate to bring it to a satisfying poppable head, and a lot of phone battery in reserve because video-ing for the MN Masses doesn't half run through your battery.

Those are my sporner corner top tips.

rosemarysalter · 27/12/2022 22:09

Get a cotton bud, run it under the hot tap

Press on spot

Repeat. It'll eventually pop.

Tilllly · 27/12/2022 22:11

Send me your address and I'll come round and pop it

<<<rubs hands gleefully>>>

😂😂😂

More likely to get into the bloodstream if left alone.
