It's not obligatory to leave the house every single day y'know!

It's not obligatory, but it makes life a hell of a lot nicer. I'd only spend all of Xmas day indoors if the weather was truly dreadful.

diddl · 25/12/2022 17:53

I don't think it's ever weird to go for a walk tbh.

Funkyslippers · 25/12/2022 17:56

I always go for a walk on Christmas Day. Nothing weird about it. Can't imagine why there would be

LuluBlakey1 · 25/12/2022 17:57

We walked round to PIL for lunch. MIL busy in kitchen and didn't want any help- was almost at sit down for half an hour point. DH played with DC and their toys - with his DGM watching. So FIL and I took the dogs out for an hour on the beach and came back for lunch then he and I cleared everything away. All worked out very nicely.
We have walked home, DC are having sandwiches for tea and then going to bed by 7- very tired- DH organising that. I am lying on the sofa with a gin.

EmmaStone · 25/12/2022 17:59

DH and I always go for a quick jog before breakfast on Xmas morning, and would normally like a walk too, but it's weather dependent. Today we managed our run in the only dry period of the day, and of course it's dark so early (we live very rurally, walking in the dark wouldn't be terribly interesting, and we'd have to stick to roads, which are very lot holed, so not hugely safe either (in terms of twisted ankles rather than anything else). So no post lunch walk today. We're in the car for much of the day tomorrow visiting family, so we'll both be absolutely chomping at the bit to get moving again.

Funkyslippers · 25/12/2022 18:03

Dotjones you seriously think there's a likelihood of being abused or harassed when just taking a walk on any other day of the year? Why on earth is that? I've never been myself or ever seen anyone else harassed or abused when taking a walk

LolaSmiles · 25/12/2022 18:06

I take DC and the dogs out whilst DH cooks Christmas dinner.
Everyone wins because I get some fresh air, the DC and dogs are happy, and he can cook without having everyone under his feet.

suzyscat · 25/12/2022 18:07

I always want to but don't know where people who don't own dogs find the time but I'd love to. Never do, except as a teen I'd go for a little walk with a friend.

PinkPanther50 · 25/12/2022 18:09

We’ve always gone for an afternoon walk on Christmas Day. With a dog, without a dog, with kids, with the elderly family members. Need the fresh air and to walk off the large lunch. When the kids were little it was great at running off some of their energy.

coffeepleeease · 25/12/2022 18:12

Not at all! Don't do it myself but don't this it's weird

Lannielou · 25/12/2022 18:15

2 dogs, 3 kids and me all down the beach for an hour, then home to finish dinner.

SinnerBoy · 25/12/2022 18:25

Gwdihooooo

Today is a walk round the block as the weather is shite and dh has broken his collar bone

Does he usually walk on his hands?

😀

I mean, in your opinion, sure.

Personally I love a lazy day at home where I don't have to go anywhere or do anything. I wouldn't do it everyday but once in a while or so it's lovely.

You clearly have no idea how painful movement can be with a broken collarbone!!

Crunchingleaf · 25/12/2022 19:26

By the time you get presents done with kids, visit relatives, cook and eat dinner and relax after said dinner where do people find the time for walks.
When kids are older and I no longer have elderly relatives to visit we will probably actually have the time to do it.

Cherrysoup · 25/12/2022 19:33

Usual woods walk this morning. Dogs like to be out by 10.30.

katepilar · 25/12/2022 19:44

Is someone making you think its weird?
Yes, after dark its also fine.

MassiveSalad22 · 25/12/2022 19:46

Not weird at all! Love a bit of fresh air! Can do without dogs though personally, I hate my walk being interrupted having to wait for it to come back/stop sniffing/poo 😄🎄

Eselch · 25/12/2022 19:59

I took the dog out after lunch, and 3 of the teens wanted to come too. Perfectly normal in this house. The teens love waking though and usually do a long walk every weekend!

steff13 · 25/12/2022 19:59

The wind chill here is 5°F, so we will not be walking. I'm dreading taking out the trash later, but it's trash night, so I have to. It's not weird if you want to go for a walk though.

Eselch · 25/12/2022 20:00

Oh and added bonus - DH had cleaned up from lunch by the time we got back 😄

Aquasulis · 25/12/2022 20:00

I went out for a run in the pouring rain and saw no one literally no one at midday

echt · 25/12/2022 20:02

I went for a woodland walk with DD and the dog before lunch, but this was to show her a walk she hadn't been on. It was nearly 27 degrees, so the dog chased the shade constantly and I won't do that to him again.

No it doesn’t. I find going out every day tiresome, especially on days you’re supposed to be relaxing like Christmas.

I hate going out on walks and “getting some fresh air”.

pizzaHeart · 25/12/2022 20:38

We always go for a walk on Christmas Day ( no dogs, just teen DD) We don’t go for hours usually about 30-40 minutes locally.
We went twice today - around lunchtime when it’s stopped raining and then just now to look at lights locally. It feels really nice after.
