I'm with you OP! A Christmas Walk is not a thing where I'm originally from, I can think of nothing worse! We're still in our pyjamas and will remain so until dinner.

You can think of nothing worse than going for a walk? How strange. We went for a country walk after lunch- it was lovely. Lots of people about enjoying themselves. I’d hate to sit in & watch TV all day.

hellycat · 25/12/2022 16:26

No it's a great idea. I went for a three miler this morning and it really cleared my head, I was going to do the same tonight but it's now pouring with rain.

It's actually a really nice day to go walking as there is so little traffic.

Pushkinia · 25/12/2022 16:29

I go for a walk any day I can (mostly weekends as work is pretty intense and I work late on 3 days out of 5). It clears my head and helps me relax, so I don’t think it’s weird at all. I went out this afternoon but met nobody else out - it was lovely!

Minimochi · 25/12/2022 16:30

We went out pretty early with DS today...to try out his new remote control monster truck. I don't want him to use it in the house because he keeps driving it into the wall when we're trying to watch TV.
There wasn't anyone else about, really. However, we are living on the outskirts of a small town and there usually aren't that many people walking along here. In general, it's quite normal here to go on a walk. (Just maybe not at 8am...)

DappledThings · 25/12/2022 16:30

I was surprised how quiet the woods round us were really. I expected to see way more people out for a walk. Only met 2 other families.

RayKray · 25/12/2022 16:42

We go for a walk every year to look at people's Xmas lights. Heading off shortly. Maybe they think we're weird 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ohnotheydidnt · 25/12/2022 16:44

We walk on the beach everyday (when there's no school and work)

You do you! It's not unusual as the beach was busy with other walkers.

Simonjt · 25/12/2022 16:44

We like being indoors, today we went on a long walk in the woods and took a picnic with us, when we got home we went for a little wild swim in the lake, perfect.

latetothefisting · 25/12/2022 16:45

I can't think of anything less weird?

I'd find people judging others for going for a walk far weirder than walkers!

TenoringBehind · 25/12/2022 16:45

We have dogs so it’s perfectly normal for us. We did a long walk this morning at a nearby country park.

Lavender14 · 25/12/2022 16:46

Love a wee Xmas day walk but we also have a dog.

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 25/12/2022 16:47

Such an English thing. We never go for walks on Christmas day here!

SaveMeCheezus · 25/12/2022 16:49

Huh? We're by the sea and there'll have been dozens of people strolling up and down the promenade today, probably more than a normal day. The only reason we haven't is because DH is full of cold.

BCBird · 25/12/2022 16:49

Not nice to walk where I live but me and mate just walked the streets for an hour and had a good catch.up.

Coxspurplepippin · 25/12/2022 16:50

It's a necessity I think, bit of fresh air and exercise either before or after a late lunch - stops everybody stagnating in front of the TV, helps stave off any bad temper.

Calphurnia88 · 25/12/2022 16:51

I have a baby who will only sleep in a moving pram so nope, not weird.

Oysterbabe · 25/12/2022 16:54

It's a complete normal thing that millions do. I absolutely fucking hate it though. SIL is obsessed with going for a walk and the suggestion makes me dissolve in a puddle of ennui.

dicdicnurse · 25/12/2022 16:54

We never did it growing up but now we have our own children it's something we try and do, just to get some fresh air. We are all covid positive this year so just walked around the block to blow the cobwebs out.

Bumply · 25/12/2022 16:55

When I'm not ill I'd often walk or volunteer at parkrun on Christmas Day.

If you'd like to have a dog to walk as an excuse take a look at www.borrowmydoggy.com/

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 25/12/2022 16:57

I'd love to but I've no idea how people find the time!

user1964097 · 25/12/2022 16:58

It turned a bit wet here so we didn't, hope to tomorrow though

We went at 10. A lot of presents had been opened, turkey was in the oven. No other food needed prepping for an hour or so. Would have just been sitting around slightly awkwardly otherwise.

Afterfire · 25/12/2022 17:03

I think Christmas Day is the one day I don’t go for a walk. The day just tends to whizz by with presents being opened, kids playing with them, late breakfast, board games and dinner etc. We generally go for a 1–2 hour walk most days, we live rurally and are surrounded by fields but today we’ve not left the house!

Deadringer · 25/12/2022 17:07

I don't think it's weird but it's the last thing I would want to do on Christmas day. I am a lazy bitch though.

mondaytosunday · 25/12/2022 17:07

I thought it was a tradition to go for a walk on Christmas Day!
