No pigs in blankets

I thought we were ready for Christmas but I have just realised we have no pigs in blankets. I thought I had some frozen bought ahead but there are none in the freezer.
AIBU to send DS out for them and if he doesn't go, manage without?

Clearly Christmas cannot continue without Pigs in Blankets.

Whether it is unreasonable to send ds out rather depends on lots of details, but the main one being if he is U10 or not.

ChristmasJingleBalls · 23/12/2022 18:50

Just go and get some.

I buy pigs in blankets as soon as they start popping up in the shops regularly, and bung them in the freezer. However this can lead to the current situation in our house, where we appear to have 52 pigs in blankets... for the three of us.

I may also accidentally have bought a pack of Footlong Pigs in Blankets in Lidl this afternoon!

Do you think that will be enough?

I would probably need back up PIBs with my lot 😂

LubaLuca · 23/12/2022 19:06

Tesco has them in seemingly every available fridge space this morning, so I imagine there'll be plenty tomorrow.

I always assemble them myself anyway so they get their preferred sausage and bacon combo, so there's that option if you can't easily get prepared ones.

thismeansnothing · 23/12/2022 19:08

I'd have a last ditch look tommorow. Otherwise Buy some chipolatas and a pack of streaky bacon and make your own?

AmazonPrim · 23/12/2022 19:14

I thought this was going to be a joke post. Are people seriously that mad and rigid that they would consider Christmas dinner ruined without pigs in blankets?

And if you're that desperate what's the big deal about going out tomorrow and getting some yourself?

Deliveroo? Just really??? Confused

dudsville · 23/12/2022 19:15

I get it OP! Some things just say "christmas" and without it it's not the same. For me it's panettone. Last year i didn't buy any as we were always given t, but then no one gave us any and the shops sold out! I spent all year looking forward to getting panettone and have been having it daily for about a week now!

Mamette · 23/12/2022 19:19

I’ve never eaten a pig in a blanket in my life and I’m still alive.

KnottyKnitting · 23/12/2022 19:20

Do you have sausages and bacon? Could make your own?

LikeTearsInRain · 23/12/2022 19:20

Could you go and get them yourself OP?

ThisIsCringe · 23/12/2022 19:28

Oh my god! Go out and get some. We have 120 😂

Mouthfulofquiz · 23/12/2022 19:33

Chipolatas and streaky smoked bacon. Don’t buy ready made!

Runmybathforme · 23/12/2022 19:49

Don't see the problem. The shops are open tomorrow.

Xiaoxiong · 23/12/2022 19:50

Just go to the shops tomorrow! Stacked high in Waitrose today AND on a multibuy - I bought 3 packs.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 23/12/2022 19:59

I think you you should try and get some OP tomorrow - mine would not let me forget it for years to come if they were not on the table Christmas Day.

Willmafrockfit · 23/12/2022 20:00

make them
chipolatas and streaky bacon

DS2 is very clear that pigs in blankets make Christmas dinner. Nothing else matters.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/12/2022 20:06

Everyone saying get some tomorrow, you/we don't know hownfar the op's closest shop is.

If wrapping a rasher around a sausage will elevate me to the next plane of existence I’m all for it 🐖

Oysterbabe · 23/12/2022 20:28

It's only 23rd. I'm just back from the supermarket, it was empty and they had stacks of everything.

Save some for when it's a miserable day in January! Mash, veg and gravy with them
