No pigs in blankets

I thought we were ready for Christmas but I have just realised we have no pigs in blankets. I thought I had some frozen bought ahead but there are none in the freezer.
AIBU to send DS out for them and if he doesn't go, manage without?

🤣plasticine jibe made me laff. Ta. Need cheering up.

PayPennies · 23/12/2022 17:26

I really don’t get these posts.

“It’s Friday today. We have a big meal planned for Sunday afternoon and are missing 1 item. Should I go get that 1 item before Sunday afternoon or should I leave it?”

No? You wouldn’t post that? You wouldn’t even register that as a dilemma? Then why this thread?

surely if you figure out you’re missing something on Friday that’s needed on Sunday you either nip out to get it or you don’t?

Vicliz24 · 23/12/2022 17:27

Our M&S food is open until 11 you'll get some

PayPennies · 23/12/2022 17:27

ApolloandDaphne · 23/12/2022 17:19

You have plenty of time to go and get some.

Yes but where’s the drama in that?

Justcallmebebes · 23/12/2022 17:29

You have to get some I'm afraid. I'd be gutted at Christmas Dinner without pigs in blankets

BasiliskStare · 23/12/2022 17:29

I think this is purely down to - does the family like them ( I love them ) or are they there "just because " It will probably be the work of a moment to make up a graph or something which measures the happiness value of pigs in blankets versus the effort of going to get them . & then if anyone complains you can give them a short powerpoint presentation to explain your reasoning 😁

Personally I like them & would be sending out a search party for them or ingredients But it would not ruin my Christmas to be without.

Aprilx · 23/12/2022 17:35

It’s the 23rd, just go to the shop if you want pigs in blankets.

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 23/12/2022 17:38

YABU for considering Christmas Dinner without PIB. Frankly, I'd rather the turkey had gone missing...

courgettigreensadwater · 23/12/2022 17:51

Do you have sausages and bacon to make some? Tbf though I have double quantities of them so I would definitely have to sort it one way or t'other 🤣👌🏽

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/12/2022 17:58

😱 no pigs in blankets.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 23/12/2022 18:06

Lockheart · 23/12/2022 17:19

Buy some sausages, buy some bacon, you'll be grand.

And walk past the mountians of actual pigs in blankets that are in every food shop I've been in. I'm sure I don't live in some weird area thats the only place in the country with them for sale

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 23/12/2022 18:08

We haven't seen any this year at all. DH is bringing home cocktail sausages and rashers from the butcher so we can make our own.

I'm thinking of going mad and glazing the sausages for an initial roast, in honey and a bit of wholegrain mustard.

AnguaResurgam · 23/12/2022 18:09

We do bacon scrolls and cocktail sausages separately, as well as having pigs in blankets. As long as there's bacon on the plate somewhere, you'll be fine

Exactly, some people are funny about food shopping this week

Unless you literally have no way to access food from a shop in the next 30 plus hours how is this an issue

Shannith · 23/12/2022 18:12

Even if the are sold out just get some chipolatas and streaky bacon. I way make mine - so much cheaper and way nicer. I've got two packs of each and that will make about 48 probably with bacon left over.

Shannith · 23/12/2022 18:14

Hold together with a cocktail stick - or a top I just got on TikTok - make a paste with cornflour and use it to stick the bacon in. You won't taste it and they will stay wrapped.

The guy also drizzled them with honey when they came out of the oven - I'm doing that.

Wonnle · 23/12/2022 18:15

So what ?

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 23/12/2022 18:16

12 Chipolatas. 12 pack of Streaky bacon.
Wrap one around the other. If the sausage is on the outside, you got it wrong

VickyEadieofThigh · 23/12/2022 18:17

Oh. The. Deprivation.

PonyPatter44 · 23/12/2022 18:22

I buy pigs in blankets as soon as they start popping up in the shops regularly, and bung them in the freezer. However this can lead to the current situation in our house, where we appear to have 52 pigs in blankets... for the three of us.

I may also accidentally have bought a pack of Footlong Pigs in Blankets in Lidl this afternoon!

JaneJeffer · 23/12/2022 18:31

I couldn't find any.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 23/12/2022 18:37

If you don't manage to get some, make sure you let your guests know so they can make an informed decision about whether they still want to attend or not.

picklemewalnuts · 23/12/2022 18:39

Have you got bacon? Have you got sausages or pork mince? Make some.

I would never go out for one item (well, maybe the Turkey...!). I'd rather do without.

bellac11 · 23/12/2022 18:40

Yo have to go out for them

We have to go out for red cabbage and some pork belly bites as they werent delivered

tiggergoesbounce · 23/12/2022 18:41

Its not a christmas without pigs in blankets on our family... a big No No
