Is anyone not ill today?

I got a chest infection after this horrible bug a couple of weeks ago. It’s never ending I have a day or two of feeling better and then something else hits me.

Every day for the past two weeks at least one of my team has called in sick.

All three kids have been up and down like yo yos. Both my sisters are struggling through colds. My dad has a chest infection. DH has been coughing through the night for weeks.

So…quick MN poll. Is anyone NOT ill right now?

Nope. Day seven of coughing non-stop and feeling like rubbish. Not covid - just this bloody awful cold thing that's going around. Feeling very sorry for myself!

WildOats5678 · 22/12/2022 16:54

It’s winter and the first winter in 2 years with no lockdown/restrictions. Nobody’s immune system is built up as we’ve not been exposed to winter colds/bugs. All this sickness is actually very normal.

But to answer your question I am currently not ill.

Fleabigg · 22/12/2022 16:54

I’m feeling great after getting over the bout of norovirus we all had a fortnight ago! That seems to have killed off all the other germs somehow. DC knackered but well. DH likewise. Lots of coughs and colds in my workplace at the moment though.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/12/2022 16:56

I'm fine, not had any sort of cold etc for ages. But dc is grown up and I work from home so I'm not exposed to much.

Mardyface · 22/12/2022 16:57

I'm sort of scared to admit I'm not ill. Although I have had a bit of a runny nose since about September.

Lolacat1234 · 22/12/2022 16:57

Nope all ill here. DD kicked it off end of November with tonsillitis that needed two sets of ABs to get rid of, DS picked up what seems like a double cold (a few days of being well in between both) then me and DD had a 24/48 hour Norovirus type thing. And to top all that off I get a call from nursery today on her last day to pick her up as she has a temp and I now have the beginnings of my sons cold too which I also think she has picked up. DP also full of cold. Just hoping we are slightly better by Xmas - a whole month of illness. And everyone I speak to, friends and colleagues, all telling the same story. It's awful.

gogohmm · 22/12/2022 16:57

Day 16 of what i thought was a cough/cold managed to give it to whole family- turns out it was strep a, both dd and dsd now on antibiotics but dp and I didn't need them

SlashBeef · 22/12/2022 16:58

I had covid then straight into strep A. It's been grand 😄 merry bloody Christmas!

Ilikewinter · 22/12/2022 16:59

Not trying to tempt fate but I've not been ill for years....I even managed to work front line throughout Covid and still not catch it!. I reckon I've got some superhuman immune system

Afolnerd · 22/12/2022 17:01

I am currently fine but with 3 ill people in the house (2xdc and dh) and half the staff at work ill I’m expecting it to hit me fairly soon. Probably on Xmas day knowing my luck!

antelopevalley · 22/12/2022 17:02

All ill here but I am worst hit.

jinglebells22 · 22/12/2022 17:03

I'm not ill in the bug sense but I've a mouth full of mouth ulcers due to stress and being run down and they do make me feel really unwell. I've had a stinking headache and swollen glands all week. Hoping I'll feel better in time for Christmas.

Ds has been complaining of sore throat and headache today which is worrying as some family he's been with have all been wiped out by this winter flu bug so I'm praying he doesn't go down with that and take us all with him!

I'm really worried this year. I think it's because of all the news stories about strep A, antibiotic shortages and strikes. It feels like a really bad time to get unwell. Also always get twitchy around Christmas because of all the effort that goes into it only to all be wasted because we're too poorly to enjoy it.

I think you need to volunteer for some testing - we need to learn from your immune system!

Crunchymum · 22/12/2022 17:07

I'm staving something off. Had sore throat and headache and sore ears but took some Vicks First Defence and it seems to have helped. Assume it will come back with a vengeance but hopefully not until after the 25th.

georgarina · 22/12/2022 17:08

I'm just coming to the end of a couple weeks of bronchitis. But we've been solidly ill since October (really bad virus, standard cold, gastric thing, and this latest cough that developed into the bronchitis).

Devoutspoken · 22/12/2022 17:09

No I'm not ill, but ill people in the house, although i rarely catch any thing

AnyFucker · 22/12/2022 17:10

I am not ill presently but I had a horrible cold 2 weeks ago

However, I have a bad back today and have been in contact covid positive folk this week so fuck knows how the next few days will go

Both Xmas and New Year were ruined by covid last year so I fully expect something to happen, tbh

GreenWheat · 22/12/2022 17:13

I am not ill, and neither is anyone in my house. We very rarely get ill though.

girlmom21 · 22/12/2022 17:14

I'm not ill. DP and the kids have had it but so far so good for me.

Eggsley · 22/12/2022 17:14

I'm probably tempting fate but I am ok at the moment. I had a horrible cold in November and then I had covid last week and was really rough with it. The DC have finally shaken off the coughs/colds they have had for weeks, but they were off school last week with coughs/colds, so have had nearly two weeks away from people/germs. DH is now ok, having had covid last week too. Everyone at work seems to be ill though. I'm hoping I don't come down with anything before Christmas.

Meeb · 22/12/2022 17:18

Ill here too unfortunately! We'd started feeling better then it's hit me like a ton of bricks over the last couple of days. Temp all over the place yesterday, aches and coughing so much that earlier it made me throw up twice and question my pelvic floor - I'd like to blame pregnancy for that but this feels pretty brutal regardless!

Buzzinwithbez · 22/12/2022 17:21

I'm fine. We had COVID last Christmas and a covid like illness the Christmas before.

I've been diligently mixing as much as I can possibly manage and I'm hoping that strategy has worked. I also eat as well as possible. I had some sort of tonsillitis thing a few weeks ago, so hopefully that's it as far as winter bugs go.

Glitterblue · 22/12/2022 17:24

We all have covid 😕

nokidshere · 22/12/2022 17:29

I'm good but everyone around me is sick constantly! DS1 has been Ill constantly since about April, colds, coughs, headaches, exhaustion, covid. All my friends have similar constant illnesses. Seems like everyone is poorly.

Yayyayitsaholiholiday · 22/12/2022 17:31

I’m too ill with flu-like symptoms to do anything and I’ve not got any Xmas gifts yet!! 😳
