Is anyone not ill today?

I got a chest infection after this horrible bug a couple of weeks ago. It’s never ending I have a day or two of feeling better and then something else hits me.

Every day for the past two weeks at least one of my team has called in sick.

All three kids have been up and down like yo yos. Both my sisters are struggling through colds. My dad has a chest infection. DH has been coughing through the night for weeks.

So…quick MN poll. Is anyone NOT ill right now?

OH still Well thank god I've been floored for three days norovirus, he's done all the Xmas prep, most of the shopping. We're hosting on Sunday. One family still well, but other family strep A .

What makes it worse is it's the covid free Xmas we've all been looking forward to

Highly unlikely to be norovirus with your husband not coming down with it. More likely a common old stomach bug that’s not as contagious thankfully or else he’d be spreading it all round the shops.

ThisAgainForTheMillionthTime · 22/12/2022 18:02

We are all ill, and everyone we have seen have either just got over it or have the start of it.

leithreas · 22/12/2022 18:04

I haven't been ill since before the first covid lockdown. I'm always afraid of saying it and jinxing myself though. I credit it to not being a hugger and the children being teens not little kids anymore.

HyacinthBridgerton · 22/12/2022 18:05

@Ilikewinter I think I'm like you! I have had covid (didn't even know until I tested) but I just don't really get ill. Not had a day pff sick in absolutely years and the kids are similar. Nits and bum worms 🪱 are the only reason we go to the pharmacy

GreenNewDealNow · 22/12/2022 18:06

I work with the public and wear a mask at work and I have avoided all illnesses so far this winter. I may just be very lucky but I do wonder if the mask has helped.

Hellyeahbaby · 22/12/2022 18:07

My whole household is ill, youngest has strepA, very poorly for over a week, had to take her to hospital at one point, myself and DH rotten colds/fluey, younger ds fever/cold/ fluey. And older ds has have very high fever over a week, constantly coughing, poor thing I think has pulled chest muscles, docs refuse to see him as he's 18 so an adult, say it's just flu, it will pass but im struggling with him, he has special needs, his anxiety is through the roof, at one point he was convinced he was dying.
I havnt slept really for over a week, younger 2 have vomited a few times in night from coughing so much.
My poor son (eldest) was meant to be home with us from uni but he's stayed at halls (on his own as everyone has left) as i dont want him to catch this.
Just need it to be over

Ilikewinter · 22/12/2022 16:59

Not trying to tempt fate but I've not been ill for years....I even managed to work front line throughout Covid and still not catch it!. I reckon I've got some superhuman immune system

I'm almost afraid to say it but this is also me 100%. I put it down to working in frontline healthcare for many years, I believe it has built some sort of super immune system.
I really hope we don't both get sick now! 🤞🤞

asblindasabat · 22/12/2022 18:09

Not ill myself but I probably soon will be if my in laws end up coming to mine on Xmas day as they’re loaded with the cold/stomach bug!

hippoherostandinghere · 22/12/2022 18:09

I have also never had Covid, that I'm aware of.

TheIoWfairy · 22/12/2022 18:09

Oh grief, January is going to be grim after we've swapped all our respective bugs with our nearest and dearest then put the kids back into school for a bit more contagion exchange.
Wishing everyone a healthy Christmas.

DunnoIfImOverreacting · 22/12/2022 18:11

Day 3 of Covid here. I feel like crap and have bits of me aching I wasn’t aware could ache 😳

oldtableleg · 22/12/2022 18:12

me! We all had covid a couple of weeks ago, feeling fine now 👯<- timed it right!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 22/12/2022 18:12

I’m not, but I had Covid a week and a bit ago and was more ill with that than I’ve been in a really long time.

cansu · 22/12/2022 18:14

Just started today with it. Vomiting, headache and sore throat. Feel bloody awful. Dd also same.

MonkeysNeverLie · 22/12/2022 18:16

Yep, feeling crap. We’ve had one thing after another this year, not covid here so far 🤞🏻 but feel dreadful.

WildOats5678 · 22/12/2022 16:54

It’s winter and the first winter in 2 years with no lockdown/restrictions. Nobody’s immune system is built up as we’ve not been exposed to winter colds/bugs. All this sickness is actually very normal.

But to answer your question I am currently not ill.

My workplace was open throughout and DS was only home until May 2020 then back in school. In lockdown one I was having to go to supermarkets three times as often as by the time I got there after work those at home had panic bought everything. Our immune systems are fine!

Neither of us are currently ill, no.

boboshmobo · 22/12/2022 18:17

Me ! Fingers crossed

Dhdvl · 22/12/2022 18:20

I currently have pneumonia, I’ve been ill for around 4 weeks started off with a cold, then turned into a chest infection which I just couldn’t shift after 3 lots of antibiotics I quickly went downhill and lest Thursday diagnosed with pneumonia, which has knocked it out of me completely, I’ve had to cancel your trip to Lego land which we would have done Santas grotto and be woken by elves 🙈 luckily we never told our son what we had planned, my dp has a raging cold. Honestly between the mum guilt about our son not doing a Santa grotto this year (luckily we did the polar express a few weekends ago ) and the thought of hosting everyone this Christmas I want to hide away as I feel so so ill . My dp has been amazing and has been food shopping and trying to save Christmas.

icanwearwhatiwant · 22/12/2022 18:21

I've been ill on and off all term and am just at the tail end of a cold. But today I'm feeling quite well. Fingers crossed that it lasts 😁

dolor · 22/12/2022 18:22

I'm fine.

Swapshopped · 22/12/2022 18:34

Have everything crossed that myself and DD don’t come down with the stomach bug that the rest of the house are recovering from!

RedHelenB · 22/12/2022 18:36

I've not got so much as a sniffle and am hopefully staying germ free over the Christmas period.

OldTinHat · 22/12/2022 18:39

I've not had a cold or virus or covid in, what, six, seven odd years? Maybe longer??

I now have 'the germ' as of this morning. I also have antibiotics and steroids and am feeling very miserable.

I wish I could return to the smug 'woohooo no virus here thank you!' crowd.

Meh.

rainbowandglitter · 22/12/2022 18:41

I'm not I'll and neither is anyone in my house. Fingers crossed it stays that way
