Is anyone not ill today?

I got a chest infection after this horrible bug a couple of weeks ago. It’s never ending I have a day or two of feeling better and then something else hits me.

Every day for the past two weeks at least one of my team has called in sick.

All three kids have been up and down like yo yos. Both my sisters are struggling through colds. My dad has a chest infection. DH has been coughing through the night for weeks.

So…quick MN poll. Is anyone NOT ill right now?

Im on day 8 of the cold of doom that seems to be striking everyone down at the moment - I do feel a bit better today though.

7 out of 8 people are poorly in our house.

I had a click and collect order from Asda earlier - even stood in the car park all I could hear was non stop coughing! And the two cars in the collection area both had the cold capsules they ordered missing from their orders due to being out of stock.

it’s bloody miserable!

(my dad isn’t poorly but he’s the only non-poorly person I know at the moment aside from DS who only had a mild dose of doom cold and recovered in two days!!)

I'm not ill, managed to avoid the bug that the majority of the work Xmas party came down with thankfully! Still going to the gym, work, etc, so hopefully I keep avoiding it.
Out of my family, there's only 1 ill at the moment. The rest are all okay thankfully.
Hope all feel sick better asap!

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 22/12/2022 17:35

Shoot, I meant hope all sick feel better asap 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Gluwhine · 22/12/2022 17:36

x5 in our house.

I don’t know why Lemsip and Berocca don’t buddy up and make a Christmas mulled wine version to get us through this bit of the year.

purpledalmation · 22/12/2022 17:36

The men seem ok its the women and children that are unwell

TimBoothseyes · 22/12/2022 17:38

I'm fine but DP is coming out of a cold that has seemed to last forever.

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 22/12/2022 17:40

I'm the last one standing. Everyone else with hacking coughs, Granny currently in hospital with a suspected collapsed lung. Oh, and my Mums got THE gout

VillaMaria71 · 22/12/2022 17:40

I've been ill every 3 - 4 days since mid Sep. No exaggeration at all. I work with kids who have mostly been ill also. I have never in my life been ill so frequently I broke up last Friday and thought the time away from snotty nosed children would help but then my adult dd got ill. Guess who's caught it. Yep. This is a different illness though to the rest. Very sore throat, feel rough, achy and mild fever. Have a itchy rash on both arms only. Really odd. I pray to god once this is over I can have a break from it.

euronorris · 22/12/2022 17:42

I feel like answering this will jinx me lol.

Not currently ill. Neither is DH. DD currently feeling much better, but is on a course of antibiotics for Strep A (which she came down with on Monday).

But, we've had our fair share recently with her having covid in early November, I came down with a few days later and just as I got over it, DH caught it. Then she caught another cough type virus (though thankfully mild) first week of December, and then Strep A on Monday!

Munchyseeds2 · 22/12/2022 17:43

I'm OK ...so far!

Almost everyone else in the office has been or is ill - 2 with covid this week.
Some with horrible chest infections

Peachypips78 · 22/12/2022 17:43

No one in my family has been ill this autumn/winter yet! I'm just waiting for it Shock

I am the only person on my last shift at work that didn't get Covid.

grievinggirlneedsadvice · 22/12/2022 17:46

Can we have tips from those who have amazing immune systems please?!?!

I'm just recovering from strep a, after a vomiting virus, an ordinary cold, another cough virus and sinusitis!!
The cough virus (not covid) was definitely worse than strep a although that needed antibiotics because my immune system too wrecked to handle it!

Beees · 22/12/2022 17:47

My sister is the ollnly person I know who isn't unwell.

Everyone else either has a cold, the flu, covid, D+V or the plague that seems to be going round myself included.

Never know a year like it. There's going to be a lot of cancelled plans for Christmas this year I suspect.

justasking111 · 22/12/2022 17:48

OH still Well thank god I've been floored for three days norovirus, he's done all the Xmas prep, most of the shopping. We're hosting on Sunday. One family still well, but other family strep A .

What makes it worse is it's the covid free Xmas we've all been looking forward to

Valhalla17 · 22/12/2022 17:48

I'm fine, my ds was sick last week but I managed to avoid it. Last year at Xmas was miserable as I collapsed due to anaemia, my mum was fluey so couldn't even eat any Xmas food and then the rest of got the fluey bug just in time for new year! Covid tests all negative but who knows?!

So this year I'd like to avoid things as much as possible. So am taking it easy and not letting things stress me out..when I feel run ragged, thats when I tend to get sick and my body just crashes.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/12/2022 17:49

I'm still coughing a lot. I've had enough

Sandsnake · 22/12/2022 17:51

I’m not currently, although both my immensely snotty children and what seems to be everyone in the train carriage I’m in seems to be actively trying to change that…

trader21c · 22/12/2022 17:53

Coughing, cold feeling tired unfortunately have picked up the latest lurgy going round work. Can’t stop coughing …

Leggingslife · 22/12/2022 17:56

Me. Touch wood..

Fairislefandango · 22/12/2022 17:57

I'm still not ffully back to normal after a heavy cold virus nearly 3 weeks ago. I still have an intermittent slight cough and on-and-off sore throat.

LadyMary50 · 22/12/2022 17:59

My dh is on day 6 of the chesty cough,I’ve just recovered from a bout of norovirus but now have a snotty nose and sore throat.I’m hoping it passes before 25th😔

Upsidedownagain · 22/12/2022 18:00

I just have a slight sore throat that I've had for a couple of days but it hasn't developed.... fingers crossed. Daughter who lives here has had a bad cold / flu symptoms and other relatives have had a bad sickness bug (no contact yet, thankfully).

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 22/12/2022 18:00

I have a bit of a cold which seems to kick in at night ( horrible annoying tickle etc). Also earache during the day. Found a lump in my stomach & have bleeding nearly every time I go to the loo - so lucky to get an ultrasound cancellation tomorrow, otherwise it would have been February.

Tempone · 22/12/2022 18:01

All I'll here

HaggisWurst · 22/12/2022 18:01

Me! But I'm very surprised I'm not. Toddler DS had stomach flu for a week then a 3 week cold. He was better for a few days before DH came down with a sinus/head cold (he's signed off all week). I'm 34 weeks pregnant and surprised my suppressed immune system hasn't picked these up!
