Sage green dress drama - Bride

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 19:47

Bride wants me to send a picture over of what I've chosen

I must wear a dress that's sage green. So must DD and DS (wear sage green). DD has to wear a dress but is exempt (bride's words) from wearing ballet slippers because she isn't walking yet

The men must wear any suit colour but black, with a sage green tie.

AIBU to tell her I can't find anything in my size really that's sage green? Blush

She wants me to send pictures of what I've chosen for the kids before they turn up on the day

I’m really confused….so a bride told her guests to all wear the same colour and men no black suits? What if you can’t afford a new outfit or suit, are you supposed to just not go? This is in no way real, no one in the world would be this stupid or self centred surely???? And as a guest you would absolutely know this is a ridiculous ask??

timefortinsel · 19/12/2022 22:19

I have never heard of such a ridiculous wedding in my life. "The baby is exempt from ballet shoes..." Wtf!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/12/2022 22:19

She even tried to impose her dress code on the OP's BABY!

Crazy, isn't it? You'd also need three or four of them, as babies are very likely to puke or poonami over them - and neither puke nor poo tend to come out sage green-coloured.

dapsnotplimsolls · 19/12/2022 22:21

I suspect someone has drawn Bridezilla's attention to this thread. OP might well be dis-invited!

emptythelitterbox · 19/12/2022 22:24

The dress you picked out is lovely.

I've never been
a fan of green clothing. It's triggering due to hospital trauma.

Sage green hospital walls and scrubs.

Bearnamechange · 19/12/2022 22:28

"So sorry Bridezilla, we won't be coming ; can't find anything in sage green, for me, my DD, DS and DP and there is a cost of living crisis, and Christmas, so here's a £50 book token and I hope you have a lovely day."

TrimTheTree · 19/12/2022 22:28

Ladies in dresses is still cheeky. My friend looked lovely at ours in trousers and a corset top.

Of course this has got back to her and it’s batshit. I like the premise, and it would have been fine if she just said please wear sage green if possible, but to ask to see what you’ve picked and vet your outfit and dictate a babies shoes……

Tried to find a photo of this phenomenon to see if it looks as shit as it does in my head. Maybe it's the fact it's white/cream, but this looks like a cult.

Can you Imagine the glares the man in the grey trousers would have received?!

Crumpleton · 19/12/2022 22:34

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 20:22

Love this. Can I ask, what dress size would you say she is? Very beautiful women but curious to know

Model is 5'10.5"/178cm and size UK 16/EU 44

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/12/2022 22:36

It all sounds absolutely ridiculous OP, you're a bigger and better person than I am for indulging it and caring about someone who's being so entitled and odd, she is lucky to have the friends she does.

I'm even a bit 🙄the 'ladies in dresses' dictat. It just strikes me as so bizarre to feel you can dictate what other people wear for your own whims and not account at all for their budget or even worse, what people you care about are actually comfortable in. If she needs props for colour coordinating photos she could hire a crowd insteading of making a prat of herself.

Tub of Vaseline +

Bonus points if you hurl it instead of confetti.

😂

Sundala · 19/12/2022 22:45

I would be asking the bride if everyone is wearing green. Yes a wedding invite is an invite not a summons but a specific shade of green and approval by the bride is bridezilla on a whole new level.

Pearfacebanana · 19/12/2022 22:46

Some people think green is bad luck at weddings. Tell her that ;)

BootifulLoser · 19/12/2022 22:48

Surely this isn't the first time y'all have heard of a wedding where guests were asked to wear a certain colour(s)!?! However, I thought it was supposed to be a bit of fun. Demanding to see pictures of the chosen outfits beforehand is a bit Bridezilla, I admit...
i would wear the chosen colours but decline to provide advance photos.

momtoboys · 19/12/2022 22:48

I havent read all the posts so maybe this has been asked but is she telling everyone to wear sage green and ballet slippers??

BootifulLoser · 19/12/2022 22:50

My friends had a wedding where all the guests were asked to wear white and the bride wore a scarlet red dress. The photos looked amazing!

momtoboys · 19/12/2022 22:52

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 20:44

Looks like I've been spotted. Just got a text to say the green is off!

The green is "off" as in the color isn't the correct sage green or the ridiculous request of all people with vaginas have to wear sage green is off?

momtoboys · 19/12/2022 22:52

I do love the dress you have chosen. It is lovely.

JamMakingWannaBe · 19/12/2022 22:53

I've got a great outfit for your DP/DH that keeps to the "sage green" colour scheme.

What a mess. Either she's seen this thread or been bombarded with people telling she SIBU/sending her photos of 20 different shades of green which will look shit together.

You were very kind to go along with this OP. As a pp said, it'll look worse now, with a big chunk of early shopping guests in sage, than it would have if you'd all just worn what you wanted to.

I've been to a couple of white parties and it all looks amazing until people get drunk and sloppy with their red wine/rum and coke.

EconomyClassRockstar · 19/12/2022 23:02

I bought this earlier today and love it. It's actually way more flattering in real life than on the model.

SixCharactersinSearchofanAuthor · 19/12/2022 20:27

A real (sage) green dress? That's cruel.

I think we could be friends Grin

SuKnackered · 19/12/2022 23:09

Swingwhenyourewinning · 19/12/2022 20:22

I am not paronoid I am a size 10-12 I have been bigger and that’s how it feels. They make the dress in her size and bigger obviously there is a market for them.

But how does that mean that OP is putting down women who are a similar size or bigger than she is? I genuinely don't have a clue what you're talking about. OP hasn't put anyone down at all!
