Sage green dress drama - Bride

Bride wants me to send a picture over of what I've chosen

I must wear a dress that's sage green. So must DD and DS (wear sage green). DD has to wear a dress but is exempt (bride's words) from wearing ballet slippers because she isn't walking yet

The men must wear any suit colour but black, with a sage green tie.

AIBU to tell her I can't find anything in my size really that's sage green? Blush

She wants me to send pictures of what I've chosen for the kids before they turn up on the day

It's the 'any suit colour except black' that I don't understand... so sky blue? Pink? Brown? That's hardly going to look 'curated', is it?

Looks like I've been spotted. Just got a text to say the green is off!

I'm sorry this is hilarious😁

At least she's a repentant bridezilla! It's a stressful things to organise, I think she can be allowed a blip!

I also remember the adage that green is unlucky at weddings. But you know, once you rule out the other frowned upon colours, there aren't that many options left!

RB68 · 19/12/2022 21:41

I suspect she might have had a few "enquiries" lol. Maybe she will go with pastels But all seems a bit odd. As long as your guests make an effort who cares. Pity anyone already sorted as they will have to get another outfit now or everyone will know lol

StClare101 · 19/12/2022 21:42

I agree with the poster who said it would have looked like a bunch of marines in camouflage. There are many interpretations of sage green.

The dress you chose is lovely.

This just gets better :)

Massive no no for me . Being told what to wear as a guest at a wedding . Send your apologies and spend the money you’d have to buy a sage green dress on doing something with your family . CF

Andsoforth · 19/12/2022 21:52

Isn’t it inevitable that several of the guests will turn up in the same dress? It seems completely bonkers to me.

And different shops will use different dyes. It’s much easier to coordinate the wedding party, but there will be variations among guests. Green isn’t a colour that looks good with other greens the way blues or purples can.

She’s completely bonkers.

TheSmallAssassin · 19/12/2022 21:52

The idea that your guests are your accessories and are just there to make the pictures look good is horrible. The whole "it's your special day" thing is so self absorbed.

Galarunner · 19/12/2022 21:52

The ladies in dresses is still a bit OTT. What's wrong with a trouser suit. I know quite a few women who always wear trousers. I wore trousers to my own wedding in fact!

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 21:58

My husband is a paramedic and said 'No need to change from my shift then?' Grin

Really hoping that some of the men turn up
In clown suits

Don't be so unkind and disrespectful. This is much more in keeping.

So she's now specified that all the women must wear dresses, but has she said that men must not wear dresses? Could be interesting.

I agree, I thought the idea of a wedding was to share your day with people who are important to you. It shouldn't matter what they wear. It's as though weddings have turned into photo shoots.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/12/2022 22:03

I presume that was why she required a photo/link for her to authorise before the guest was allowed to buy it. Not only did you have to find a suitable sage green dress in your size, but one that nobody else was going to be wearing.

Was she also expecting presents as well as everybody having to buy a new particular outfit that they may never wear again, if it really isn't 'their' colour - or that the children will have outgrown before they have another occasion to wear it?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/12/2022 22:04

So all women have to wear dresses, but has she specified that they mustn't be wedding dresses....?

'Sage' isn't exactly the way I'd describe her planning processes.

Looks the same as the Simply Be dress.

UsingChangeofName · 19/12/2022 22:07

It won’t work, the bride will be bitterly disappointed when she looks down at the guests. It will look like a convention of marines in full camouflage sitting in a swamp with frogs!
Grin

Glad the colour theme is off.
Completely bonkers all round
Fortunately I don't know anyone who would try and be that controlling at their wedding but if ever I got an invitation like that the only choices would be to decline it altogether, or to just ignore it. If it were someone not particularly close, I'd probably just decline. If it were someone close then they'd be close enough for me to tell them not to be ridiculous.
I can't believe there is a poster on here asking what is wrong with the idea Shock

ScruffMuffin · 19/12/2022 22:08

Oh, please send your husband along in his scrubs, and dress the kids up as Tinkerbell and Peter Pan!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/12/2022 22:09

What's going to happen, now that a lot of guests will already have bought their outfit based on her previous regulations? Will half the guests be in sage green and the other half not? That will look.... odd.

Layersoftaytoes · 19/12/2022 22:09

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 20:22

Love this. Can I ask, what dress size would you say she is? Very beautiful women but curious to know

It says the model is wearing size 16 x

😂Serves Bridezilla right!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/12/2022 22:12

She obviously still loves sage, even though she's now felt it necessary to relax the regulations; so how about something subtly still along a complementary theme?

😂😂😂

ScruffMuffin · 19/12/2022 22:15

The whole thing is waaaay beyond normal CFery, but I seriously can't get over Bridezilla insisting on seeing the CHILDREN'S outfits before their arrival! She even tried to impose her dress code on the OP's BABY!

timefortinsel · 19/12/2022 22:17

Lucky she cancelled the sage green fiasco. I imagine she's been receiving photos, as requested, and everyone had bought one of the three or four dresses linked on here. Everyone would have looked the same! How very very weird.
